Lesprom Network reported that the price of lumber exported from the United States to Mexico fell 5% in August 2026. Its available excerpt does not show whether that change is month over month or year over year, and it does not provide the underlying price or calculation method. The figure is therefore a reported market update, not a fully specified price benchmark.

What the August report says

In a report published October 6, 2026, Lesprom Network said U.S. lumber export prices to Mexico dipped 5% in August 2026. The comparison period is not identified in the available excerpt, so the decrease should not be labeled either monthly or annual. The excerpt also does not state a price per unit, lumber grade, species, or trade-data calculation method. Lesprom Network

Export volume also rose, but the unit is missing

The same Lesprom excerpt reports that export volume increased 2% year over year and shows a truncated quantity beginning “119.3 thousand.” The excerpt does not preserve the unit, so that figure cannot safely be converted into board feet, cubic meters, or another measure. Nor does it provide enough detail to connect the volume change to the reported price movement.

Why the July BLS figure is not a direct comparison

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a 0.3% increase in its broad U.S. export price index for Mexico in July 2026. That is a destination-level index, not a lumber-specific measure, and it covers a different month from Lesprom’s August lumber report. It neither confirms nor contradicts the reported lumber-price decrease. BLS, U.S. Import and Export Price Indexes

What builders and buyers should take from it

The report signals a decline in a stated export-price measure, but it does not establish how that measure maps to lumber purchased for a construction project. It supplies no domestic retail price, grade or species detail, shipment terms, or comparison basis. Buyers assessing a quote should compare the same product specification, delivery terms, and date across suppliers rather than treating the 5% figure as a forecast or a change in local lumber prices.
