If your TOTO WASHLET will not turn on, spray, or heat, start with the basics: check power, the water supply and shutoff valve, sensor detection, the filter, and temperature or energy-saver settings. First find the model number and use that model’s manual for button sequences, indicator meanings, filter instructions, and resets; instructions differ across WASHLET models. If water is leaking, close the shutoff valve before troubleshooting.
Before troubleshooting, identify your WASHLET model
Find the model number on the unit or its documentation, then consult the matching TOTO manual. The official manuals use symptoms such as “Doesn’t work at all,” “Water will not spray,” and “The water pressure is low,” but their controls and troubleshooting instructions are not interchangeable. Do not rely on a button sequence, light pattern, filter name, or reset procedure from a different model.

The steps below are basic checks reflected in TOTO manuals. When a check involves removing a part, reseating the unit, or handling a connection, follow the instructions for your model rather than improvising.
WASHLET doesn’t work at all
- Check whether household power is out or the circuit breaker has tripped.
- Confirm the unit’s power control is on and check its power indicator. Use the manual to interpret the indicator; meanings vary by model.
- If the manual for your model lists it as a possible cause, check that the main unit is secured correctly to its mounting plate or base plate. Follow its reseating instructions.
TOTO’s C110 and C200/A200 manuals include incorrect seating on the base plate among possible causes. Do not assume this check or its procedure applies to every WASHLET.

Water will not spray or the pressure is low
- Confirm that household water service is available and that the shutoff valve is open. If the valve is closed, open it as directed for your installation.
- Sit in the position described in the manual so the seat sensor can detect you. A feature may not start if the sensor does not detect a user.
- If spray is weak, check the water-pressure setting using your model’s controls.
- Inspect and clean the water filter or filter valve as directed in the manual. TOTO uses different names for these parts across manuals, including “water filter with drain valve,” “water filter drain valve,” and “feed water filter.”
If cleaning does not resolve the problem, identify the exact model and part number before obtaining a replacement filter. Filter fit is not universal.
Wash or dryer will not activate, or stops during use
Check the sensor area and your position before assuming the unit has failed. Depending on the model, posture, dust, water, clothing, or a cover over the sensor area can interfere with detection. Clear obstructions and follow the manual’s instructions; do not bypass or defeat a seat sensor.

- The SW573/SW574/SW583/SW584 manual describes a safety stop after continuous sitting for two hours or longer. It also gives five minutes for continuous rear/front wash and ten minutes for drying.
- The C200/A200 manual says rear/front spray automatically stops after five minutes and warm-air drying after ten minutes.
These times apply to the functions and models named in those manuals, not to every WASHLET. Check your manual before treating a stop as a fault.

Cleansing water or the seat feels cold
Check the water or seat temperature setting, as applicable, and whether energy-saver mode is active. On some models, an illuminated energy-saver indicator means the seat temperature is reduced or a heater is off. A TOTO manual also notes that low incoming-water or bathroom temperature can make the initial spray feel cool.
Controls and heating behavior depend on the model. Use its manual to adjust settings and understand when a temperature change should take effect; there is no single wait time that applies to all WASHLET units.

Water is leaking
Close the shutoff valve if you see a leak, then follow the matching manual’s instructions for the affected connection. Tightening directions are connection-specific: the C200/A200 manual distinguishes a hand-tightened water-supply hose connection from other nuts for which an appropriate tool may be used. Do not apply tools where the manual specifies hand-tightening. If the leak continues, seek repair rather than continuing to tighten connections.
When basic checks do not solve the problem
TOTO manuals advise checking common causes before requesting repairs. If the power, water, sensor, filter, and temperature checks relevant to your model do not resolve the symptom—or a leak persists—contact the installer, seller, or TOTO service channel identified in that manual. Provide the model number and describe the symptom and checks already completed.
Model-specific drainage timing in the manuals
Drainage procedures are not general-purpose resets. The C110 manual gives approximately two minutes for nozzle flow during its drainage and resupply procedure, and describes a roughly three-minute full drain from the main unit. These figures apply to that manual’s procedure; use it only if you have the covered model and follow its full instructions.
