How to narrow the palette for your project
Start with the room’s role and the effect you want, then compare undertones and depth against the permanent finishes. The ten options are not interchangeable neutrals: they span pink-leaning off-white, blue-leaning off-white, violet gray, green-gray, blue-gray, warm black, and brown-based red.
- For trim and millwork: White Heron is the list’s specific trim recommendation. Check it beside the wall color and existing trim before using it throughout.
- For cabinetry or built-ins: Wolf Gray is suggested for these surfaces. Its pronounced blue undertone makes surrounding counters, flooring, and hardware especially important to assess together.
- For a quiet bedroom or bath: White Opulence and Excalibur Gray are the article’s room-specific suggestions; Moonshine and Silver Marlin are also listed for bedrooms or bathrooms.
- For a small, high-impact room: Black Beauty is proposed for a powder room, entry, or den. Caliente is another option when the goal is a strong accent or more expansive color statement.
- For a living area or exterior: Silver Marlin is suggested for living rooms; Sharkskin is the shade in this selection mentioned for possible exterior use.
These are placement suggestions, not guarantees of how a color will look in a particular building. Light, nearby surfaces, and sheen can change the impression of a painted surface.
Sample before committing to the full job
Compare physical samples in the intended room, at different times of day, and against the actual flooring, counters, trim, and furnishings. Benjamin Moore’s official U.S. site lists interior paint, color samples, peel-and-stick samples, painting tools, and color tools, and cautions that screen and printer representations may vary from actual paint color. A color shown on a phone or printed swatch is therefore a guide, not a substitute for viewing a sample in the project space.

What “top 10” means here
The ten colors are the choices featured in a specific 2024 editorial article, with recommendations and descriptions attributed to Magno. MyDomaine does not provide a ranking methodology, consumer poll, or test establishing these as the definitive ten modern colors. Its observations about whites and grays gaining favor are also from that 2024 article, not a current market statistic or a 2026 forecast. Treat the selection as a palette of ideas to evaluate against your project—not a popularity list.
