Tiffany-style describes the shade’s appearance, not whether a fan can tolerate moisture; for a bathroom or shower location, use only a model expressly marked for that application. A ceiling fan circulates room air, while a bathroom exhaust fan removes moisture from the building.
Specifications vary by model and market. For example, the TAL Savona is listed for rooms up to 20 by 20 feet, while Westinghouse’s Comet specification recommends rooms up to 36 m² and describes a 230 V / 50 Hz product. Check the model number, current manual, and electrical compatibility before buying.

What “Tiffany-Style” Means
“Tiffany-style” is a product-design label, usually referring to decorative glass or glass-look shades. It does not establish the fan’s location rating, room-size suitability, light output, or installation requirements. TAL describes the Savona’s light kit as art deco Tiffany glass, and Westinghouse describes Tiffany bowl glass on the Comet. Those descriptions are not moisture approvals.
When comparing a Tiffany style ceiling fan with light, start with the manufacturer’s specifications rather than appearance alone. Identify the exact model and revision, then confirm its recommended room size, blade span and clearance, support instructions, location rating, lamps or LED kit, and controls.

Compare These Documented Models
The details below are manufacturer or retailer specifications, not independent performance tests. Product listings and revisions can change, so verify the current documentation before purchase.

|---|---|---|---|

Five plywood blades; interior-use design. | Integrated pan-style light kit with E26 socket and LED bulbs; three speeds, reversible control, handheld remote. 4-inch and 6-inch downrods included. | TAL’s page also identifies a discontinued variant with E12 sockets. Choose for the Room, Not Just the Shade
Dining Rooms and Breakfast Areas
A decorative fan can suit a dining room or breakfast area when its room recommendation, blade clearance, light output, and controls fit the space. Check that it will not conflict with pendants, cabinetry, doors, or seating. If adjustable light matters, confirm that the supplied lamps or light kit and the control are actually dimmable; do not assume that a decorative fan supports dimming.
Bedrooms
For a bedroom, check the model’s room recommendation, speed settings, control arrangement, and any available noise or airflow specifications. Do not assume that a motor type or Tiffany-style shade guarantees quiet operation. If the fan will provide the main room light, verify the light-kit details and plan separate reading or task lighting if needed.
Kitchens and Kitchen-Adjacent Spaces
A fan may work in a kitchen or nearby sitting area if the exact model’s location rating and installation instructions allow it. Check placement against cabinet doors, range hoods, pendants, and appliance doors. Keep a decorative shade out of likely grease exposure where practical, and consider whether its surfaces can be cleaned as the manufacturer directs.
A ceiling fan is not a range hood or exhaust system. It circulates air; it does not perform the job of ventilation intended to remove cooking contaminants from the home.
Bathrooms and Bath-Adjacent Spaces
Do not choose a fan for a tub or shower area based on its appearance, an “indoor” description, or the fact that it is in a bathroom. The Visual Comfort & Co. installation guide says: “If this unit is to be installed over a tub or shower, it must be marked as appropriate for the application.” That is guidance for the cited product; follow the exact fan’s instructions and applicable local codes.
Even outside direct tub or shower exposure, check the selected model’s location rating against the actual conditions. A ceiling fan moves air around the room but does not remove moisture. For that function, use a correctly selected and installed bathroom exhaust fan.
As an example of a separate ventilation product, Broan-NuTone lists its AE110L exhaust fan with light at 110 CFM and 1.0 sone. The manufacturer says that this specific model is UL-listed for use over a tub or shower when connected to a GFCI-protected branch circuit and ceiling-mounted. Those figures and conditions apply to the AE110L, not to ceiling fans generally.
Check the Light and Bulbs
“With light” does not mean that every model uses the same bulb, includes bulbs, or has a replaceable LED module. Read the exact model’s light-kit details. For instance, Westinghouse specifies three E14 lamps up to 60 W each for the Comet, not included; the retailer listing for the Jalev specifies six E12 sockets with a 25 W maximum per bulb. These are different products, not interchangeable rules.
- Confirm the lamp base and maximum wattage for the exact model.
- Check whether bulbs are included or must be purchased separately.
- Verify whether dimming is supported and whether the selected control is compatible.
- For integrated LEDs, check the manual for replacement and service information.
Decorative glass can tint or reduce light reaching the room. Check the manufacturer’s light specifications and consider other room lighting rather than relying on a product photo to judge brightness.

Mounting, Support, and Clearance
Follow the selected fan’s installation manual and local requirements. The Visual Comfort & Co. 2025 installation guide calls for qualified installation in accordance with applicable codes, a fan-support-rated outlet box or support, and at least 7 feet from the floor to the blade’s trailing edge. These are instructions for that guide’s fan; check the exact product documentation rather than treating them as a universal substitute for local rules.
Before ordering, check the ceiling height, mounting method, included or required downrod, blade path, and the support available above the ceiling. An existing light-fixture box is not automatically suitable for a ceiling fan. If support, wiring, switching, or clearances are uncertain, consult a qualified installer.

Practical Buying Checklist
- Record the exact model number and revision.
- Check the manufacturer’s room recommendation and fan diameter for that model.
- Measure ceiling height and verify mounting options, downrod, and blade clearance.
- Confirm the required fan-rated box or structural support in the installation manual.
- Check the location rating and any express tub or shower approval; do not infer approval from “Tiffany-style” or “indoor.”
- Verify lamp base, maximum wattage, bulb inclusion, light controls, and dimming compatibility.
- Confirm the fan’s voltage and frequency match the electrical service where it will be installed.
- Review current manuals, warranty terms, and availability of replacement parts before purchase.
Installation and Maintenance
Have the fan installed by a qualified person when the manual requires it or when support, wiring, controls, location rating, or clearance is unclear. Follow the manufacturer’s assembly and maintenance instructions. Inspect accessible hardware as directed, and stop using the fan if it develops unusual movement or noise until it has been checked.
Bottom Line
The right Tiffany-style fan is the model whose documented room recommendation, light and bulb details, controls, support requirements, and location rating fit the intended space. Treat bath and shower placement as a specific approval question, not a styling choice, and use a separate exhaust fan when the goal is moisture removal.
FAQ
What size Tiffany ceiling fan do I need for my room?
Use the room recommendation for the exact model rather than applying a universal size chart. For example, TAL lists the 52-inch Savona for rooms up to 20 by 20 feet, while Westinghouse recommends up to 36 m² for its 132 cm Comet.
Can I put a Tiffany ceiling fan in a bathroom?
Only if the exact fan is marked and approved for the intended location, and its installation instructions and local codes allow it. Do not assume an indoor or Tiffany-style label permits tub or shower installation. A ceiling fan circulates air; it does not replace bathroom exhaust ventilation.

Do Tiffany ceiling fans come with lights?
Some documented models have a light kit, but details vary. Check whether the exact model includes bulbs, uses replaceable lamps, or has an integrated LED kit.
What bulbs does a Tiffany ceiling fan use?
It depends on the model. Westinghouse specifies three E14 lamps up to 60 W each for the Comet, while the Jalev retailer listing specifies six E12 sockets with a maximum of 25 W per bulb. Verify the current manual for the model you are considering.
Does a ceiling fan remove bathroom moisture?
No. A ceiling fan circulates room air; a bathroom exhaust fan vents air from the room. Broan-NuTone lists its separate AE110L exhaust fan with light at 110 CFM and 1.0 sone, with conditional tub-or-shower approval when GFCI-protected and ceiling-mounted.
