For portability, choose an Eastman Outdoors Kahuna model; for a fixed commercial-style station, choose the Cooking Performance Group WOKR13L. The deciding factors are flame geometry, wok stability, control, fuel setup, and outdoor safety—not BTU alone.
Restaurant-style stir-frying starts with the right burner geometry, not the biggest number on the box. A dedicated outdoor wok burner should put concentrated heat beneath the wok’s curved base, hold the wok securely, provide useful flame control, and stand steadily in an open outdoor area. For maximum published output, the Concord Professional 16-inch Stronghold Wok Burner is the leading choice in this comparison. The Eastman Outdoors Kahuna line is better for portability, while the Cooking Performance Group WOKR13L is the closest match for a fixed commercial-style wok station.
If you are shopping across several brands rather than choosing from this shortlist, begin with the outdoor wok burner category—but compare the wok support, regulator, footprint, and installation requirements as carefully as the BTU rating.
Scope of this comparison: The recommendations below are based on published manufacturer specifications, product design, and stated use cases. They are not claims of independent side-by-side testing, guaranteed wok hei, or a fixed cooking time or propane consumption rate.

Quick picks
| Burner | Published output | Wok-support design | Portability and setup | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Concord Professional 16-inch Stronghold | Up to 270,000 BTU | Cast-iron banjo burner, removable wok ring, wide windscreen | Heavy-duty outdoor frame; stainless version is listed at 16 × 16 inches and 28 pounds | Maximum output and a purpose-built wok configuration |
| Eastman Outdoors Kahuna | About 45,000–55,000 BTU across the line | Wok brackets; adjustable or removable legs depending on model | Portable propane system designed for storage, camping, patios, and tailgating | Portable wok cooking and smaller outdoor spaces |
| Cooking Performance Group WOKR13L | 95,000 BTU | 13-inch wok ring, 18-tip duck-jet burner, adjustable valve | Freestanding stainless range; 3/4-inch liquid-propane connection and professional installation | A permanent or semi-permanent commercial-style station |
| GasOne B-5450 | 200,000 BTU | Cast-iron burner; wok support must be confirmed for the specific setup | High-pressure propane cooker; 16 × 16 × 12.25 inches and 25 pounds as listed | One versatile cooker for woks, pots, boiling, frying, and brewing |
| Bayou Classic KAB4 | 180,000 BTU | 10-inch cast-iron banjo burner with a 16-inch cooking surface | Welded steel frame, hose guard, 30-PSI adjustable regulator, and 48-inch braided LPG hose | Large-batch cooking, stockpots, boils, brewing, and occasional wok use |
Important: These are published maximums or product-family ranges, not a standardized measure of the heat that reaches food. A 200,000-BTU flat-pot cooker can be less effective for a round-bottom wok than a lower-output burner with a well-designed wok ring.
What makes a burner good for restaurant-style stir-fries?
Restaurant-style wok cooking depends on rapid heat recovery. The burner needs enough output to bring the wok back to temperature after cold ingredients are added, but it also needs to deliver that heat in a useful pattern. The relevant questions are:
#1 Best Overall
- Concord's commercial grade full stainless steel frame wok burner features an enamel coated built in wok mount. Wok sits directly on top which allows for easy tossing and flipping motion when you stir fry.
- Commercial grade 16 gauge stainless steel makes this wok station corrosion resistant and perfect for your outdoor kitchen, asian kitchen, or food truck. A stainless steel lid is included to cover the wok range (burner area) when not in use.
- This wok range connects to propane only and includes a regulator hose for the connection. This wok stove also features a lower shelf for easy storage of your sauces and accessories.
- Our wok range features 4 brass nozzles strategically angled to give the flame a "Vortex" effect, thus the Vortex Burner. This allows the heat to continualously spin and centralizes the heat to your wok, creating maximum wok hei effect.
- Size: 17.75" Wide x 19.75" Depth. 32" Height. Mount adds another 2.5" height. Total Weight: 37 LBS. IMPORTANT NOTES: This is a manual ignition burner (No auto igniter) and works with PROPANE ONLY
- Where does the flame contact the wok? A ring or recessed support that places heat beneath the curved bottom and lower sides is more wok-oriented than a broad, flat grate designed mainly for stockpots.
- Can you control the flame? Maximum output is useful for preheating and recovery, but an uncontrollable flame can scorch aromatics, burn sauces, or make small portions difficult to manage.
- Does the wok stay stable? A round-bottom wok should sit in a properly sized ring or bracket. If it rocks, cooking becomes unsafe and tossing becomes impractical.
- Can the burner cope with outdoor conditions? Wind protection, a broad base, suitable leg height, and a level surface all affect real-world performance.
- Does the fuel system match the burner? The regulator, hose, or fixed gas connection must be compatible with the exact model. Never assume that a hose or regulator from another cooker is suitable.
High BTU can help with fast recovery, but it does not automatically create wok hei or guarantee restaurant results. Wok shape, batch size, ingredient moisture, preheating, tossing technique, and the burner’s flame pattern also matter.
1. Concord Professional 16-inch Stronghold: best for maximum output
The Concord Professional 16-inch Stronghold is the clearest choice for a buyer whose first priority is maximum published heat from a wok-focused outdoor setup. Concord lists output of up to 270,000 BTU from a cast-iron banjo burner. The unit also includes a removable wok ring and a wide windscreen, two features that matter more to wok cooking than the output figure alone.
The powder-coated steel frame is intended for demanding outdoor cooking, including commercial-style stir-frying, food trucks, street-vendor work, brewing, and other large-batch applications. Concord lists the stainless-steel version at a 16 × 16-inch footprint and 28 pounds, so this is portable in the sense that it can be moved, but it is not a lightweight camping stove.
Why it stands out
- Highest published output among the options compared here.
- Purpose-built removable wok ring rather than relying only on a flat pot grate.
- Wide windscreen helps shield the flame from outdoor conditions.
- Heavy-duty format is appropriate for large woks and repeated cooking sessions.
Trade-offs
The 270,000-BTU figure is a ceiling, not a promise that every wok, regulator, propane tank, or outdoor location will deliver the same cooking result. The burner is also heavier and more demanding of its placement than a small portable cooker. Confirm the exact Stronghold configuration, included hose and regulator, fuel requirements, and cooking height before ordering. Concord’s basic Banjo Burner information identifies an included 20-PSI regulator, hose, and connector, but accessories can vary by product configuration; do not assume those details apply unchanged to every Stronghold listing.
Choose it if: you want a dedicated, high-output outdoor wok setup and have a stable open-air location for a relatively heavy burner.

The Eastman Outdoors Kahuna line is the better fit when the burner must be stored, transported, or used in more than one location. Eastman presents the Kahuna burners as portable outdoor propane cooking systems and describes models with adjustable or removable legs and wok brackets. The product family is listed in the approximate 45,000–55,000-BTU range, with the Big Kahuna positioned for larger woks and pots.
That output is lower than the headline figures of the Concord, GasOne, and Bayou Classic models, but portability is a separate buying criterion. A burner that is easy to set up at a patio, campsite, or tailgate may be a better purchase than a heavier commercial-style unit that remains in storage.

Why it stands out
- Portable format for patios, camping, tailgating, and limited storage.
- Wok brackets and adjustable or removable legs can make the setup more adaptable than a basic flat-top cooker.
- Eastman also sells carbon-steel wok kits, which may simplify assembling a compatible cooking system.
What to verify before buying
The Kahuna name covers more than one configuration. Verify the exact model number, published BTU rating, included regulator, hose connection, leg arrangement, and whether the wok support is included or optional. The broad product-family description is not enough to create a reliable model-by-model specification table.
Choose it if: you need a propane wok burner that can be moved and stored easily, and you are willing to trade some maximum output for portability.

Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstall3. Cooking Performance Group WOKR13L: best commercial-style range
The Cooking Performance Group WOKR13L is not a tabletop camping burner. It is a freestanding liquid-propane wok range intended for food-service environments such as restaurants, buffets, Japanese steakhouses, and catering.
Its listed output is 95,000 BTU, produced by an 18-tip duck-jet burner beneath a 13-inch wok ring. It also has an adjustable valve, stainless-steel construction, a drip pan, and adjustable legs. The product information lists the unit as ETL listed.
This combination makes the WOKR13L especially interesting for a buyer who values a stable working height and wok-specific burner arrangement over the largest possible BTU number. Its 95,000 BTU output is lower on paper than the 180,000-, 200,000-, and 270,000-BTU alternatives, but a focused jet arrangement and dedicated ring can be more useful than raw output from a general-purpose cooker.
Installation matters
The WOKR13L requires a liquid-propane connection and professional installation of its 3/4-inch gas connection. It should not be treated as an appliance that can simply be placed on a patio and connected to any available hose. Check local fuel, fire, building, and commercial-equipment requirements, and have the installation completed by a qualified professional.

4. GasOne B-5450: best versatile high-heat alternative
The GasOne B-5450 is a high-pressure propane cooker rather than a wok-specific appliance. GasOne lists a 200,000-BTU output, a cast-iron burner, an adjustable regulator, and dimensions of 16 × 16 × 12.25 inches. Its listed weight is 25 pounds.
Its intended uses include heavy pots, backyard frying, boiling, brewing, and general outdoor cooking. It can work for wok cooking when the wok is stable and properly supported, but the official product description does not establish that it includes a dedicated wok ring or that it is optimized for a curved wok base.
When it makes sense
The B-5450 is a sensible choice for someone who wants one high-heat propane cooker for several jobs. It has enough published output for demanding outdoor cooking, and its adjustable regulator can provide more flexibility than a fixed-output burner. However, do not buy it on BTU alone if stir-fries are the main reason for the purchase. Confirm the grate or support arrangement with the seller and use only a stable, compatible wok support.
Choose it if: you need a general-purpose high-output cooker for woks, stockpots, boiling, frying, or brewing and can solve the wok-support question safely.
5. Bayou Classic KAB4: best banjo alternative for large batches
The Bayou Classic KAB4 is a 16-inch banjo cooker designed primarily for large-batch cooking rather than as a dedicated wok range. It has a 10-inch cast-iron banjo burner with a listed output of 180,000 BTU, a 16-inch cooking surface, a welded steel frame, and a hose guard.
Bayou Classic lists a 30-PSI adjustable regulator and a 48-inch stainless-braided LPG hose. Those are useful published specifications, but the regulator pressure and hose connection still need to match the exact cooker and propane supply. The KAB4 is aimed at boiling, steaming, stockpots, seafood boils, and other large-batch tasks, so a wok user should confirm whether the supplied cooking surface accepts the intended wok securely.
Choose it if: you want a robust banjo cooker that can handle a wok occasionally but will spend at least as much time on stockpots, boils, steaming, or brewing.

How much BTU do you need?
There is no single BTU number that guarantees restaurant-style stir-fries. Use the published output as a screening specification, then examine the burner geometry and support.
| Published output range | What it generally suggests | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| About 45,000–55,000 BTU | A practical portable range for patios, camping, tailgating, and small-to-moderate wok loads | It does not prove that every Kahuna model has the same performance or that it will recover heat as quickly as a larger burner |
| About 95,000 BTU | A substantial output for a dedicated, commercial-style wok station when the flame pattern and ring are well matched | It does not automatically outperform a higher-output burner in every cooking situation |
| About 180,000–200,000 BTU | High heat for large pots, boiling, frying, brewing, and wok cooking when the support is appropriate | It does not make a general-purpose flat-pot cooker a dedicated wok burner |
| Up to 270,000 BTU | Maximum headroom for high-output outdoor cooking and rapid recovery | It does not guarantee wok hei, faster cooking in every setup, or better results if the flame misses the wok |
A very high-output burner can also make control more difficult. Start with a manageable flame, preheat carefully, and avoid assuming that full power is the correct setting for every ingredient or wok size.
Wok rings, wok shape, and stability
Round-bottom woks
A round-bottom wok normally requires a ring or bracket that supports the curved sides without allowing the wok to rock. The ring should keep the wok centered over the burner and leave the flame aimed at the lower bowl rather than forcing the wok to sit too high above the heat.
The Concord includes a removable wok ring, and the Eastman Kahuna line uses wok brackets on some configurations. The WOKR13L includes a 13-inch wok ring. With the GasOne and Bayou Classic cookers, verify the support arrangement rather than assuming that a large cooking surface is automatically suitable for a round-bottom wok.
Recommended Free Tools
Flat-bottom woks
A flat-bottom wok can sit on a broader grate, which may make it easier to use on a general-purpose cooker. That does not eliminate the need to check stability, clearance, and flame direction. A broad flat burner designed for stockpots may concentrate heat in a different area from a burner intended to wrap around the lower sides of a wok.
Do not improvise the support
Do not balance a wok on loose bricks, random grates, or an ill-fitting ring. If the manufacturer does not specify that the supplied surface supports your wok, obtain a compatible support or choose a burner designed for that wok style. The support must remain stable while the wok is full and while food is being stirred or tossed.

Best Value
- 54,000 BTU Powerful Output: The burner delivers powerful 54,000 BTU output for rapid heating. Made of cast iron, the burner ensures durability, making this outdoor wok burner suitable for authentic stir frying, pan frying, stewing and more
- User-friendly Operation: Equipped with electronic ignition, the wok set ensures quick start-up and easy flame control. The height of supporting legs can be adjustable, allowing you to quickly adapt the height to different cookware, such as cast iron griddle, wok, turkey fryer burner and so on
- High-Performance Wok Structure: This outdoor wok accommodates outdoor cooking and family gatherings. The arc-shaped body of wok enables even heating, while the enlarged deep design accommodates batches of stir-fry. Coated with a black high-temperature spray, it boasts an attractive appearance and durability while effectively resisting rust and corrosion
- Stable Support System: Designed with a wok ring and slots, the outdoor wok station fits round-bottomed woks, enhancing stability during cooking. When you use the wok station, the foot pads keep the stove stand more stable, providing a safer and more secure cooking experience
- Easy to Clean and Assemble: The wok features a smooth, rustproofing surface that makes cleaning easy and ensures long-term use. You can set up the wok set in about 15 minutes with the pre-drilled parts and clear instructions
- Confirm the fuel. Make sure the burner is designed for the propane or LPG supply you plan to use. Do not convert a cooker or change its orifice without approved instructions and qualified help.
- Identify the connection type. The WOKR13L uses a 3/4-inch gas connection and calls for professional installation. That is fundamentally different from a portable cooker supplied with a hose for a propane cylinder.
- Check what is included. Confirm whether the exact listing includes the regulator, hose, connector, wok ring, legs, and windscreen. Product-family pages and marketplace listings may show different bundles.
- Match pressure and fittings. The Bayou Classic KAB4 lists a 30-PSI adjustable regulator. Concord’s basic Banjo Burner information lists a 20-PSI regulator, hose, and connector. GasOne lists an adjustable regulator. Those figures are not interchangeable instructions; use the pressure range and fittings specified for the exact burner.
- Inspect connection components. Hose and regulator condition is safety-critical. Outdoor gas-appliance recalls have included regulator and hose failures that can create fire hazards. Replace damaged or recalled parts with compatible components rather than taping, splicing, or adapting them.
- Follow the manual before lighting. Set the burner on the required surface, connect the fuel exactly as directed, and use the manufacturer’s lighting and shutdown procedure.
Outdoor propane wok-burner safety
Warning: Use propane wok burners outdoors only. Never operate one inside a home, garage, tent, enclosed patio, or other poorly ventilated space. Carbon monoxide can build up quickly and become fatal, even when there appears to be ventilation.
Outdoor cooking appliances also produce open flames, intense radiant heat, and hot grease. Use these precautions:
- Place the burner on a level, stable surface in a genuinely open-air location.
- Keep combustible materials, structures, overhangs, and roofed areas at the clearance specified by the exact manual and local rules. As a concrete example, a King Kooker manual requires outdoor use, prohibits use under an overhang or roof, and calls for at least 10 feet of clearance on all sides. Treat that as a model-specific requirement, not a universal substitute for reading your burner’s manual.
- Keep children and pets away from the burner and propane connection.
- Wear protective footwear and heat-resistant gloves or mitts when handling a hot wok, ring, drip pan, or burner components.
- Do not leave the cooker unattended while it is lit.
- Shut the burner off when cooking is complete and follow the manual’s instructions for closing the fuel supply.
- Do not use a windscreen or enclosure in a way that restricts ventilation or traps heat around the propane cylinder.
- For a commercial or fixed installation, confirm the applicable local fire, fuel, building, and equipment requirements before installation.
Relevant safety standards and codes include ANSI Z21.58b/CSA 1.6 for outdoor cooking gas appliances and NFPA 58 for propane systems, but the existence of a standard does not prove that every burner on this list is certified to it. Check the exact model documentation for certification and listing details. The WOKR13L is described as ETL listed; that fact should not be generalized to other Cooking Performance Group models or to the rest of this comparison.
Which burner should you buy?
- Choose the Concord Stronghold if maximum published heat, a removable wok ring, and a wide windscreen matter more than low weight or compact storage.
- Choose the Eastman Kahuna if you need a portable propane system for patios, camping, tailgating, or frequent storage. Verify the exact model’s accessories and specifications.
- Choose the Cooking Performance Group WOKR13L if you want a stable, freestanding wok range and can arrange professional liquid-propane installation.
- Choose the GasOne B-5450 if you need a high-output cooker for several outdoor jobs and can confirm a safe wok-support solution.
- Choose the Bayou Classic KAB4 if large pots, seafood boils, brewing, steaming, or stockpots are as important as occasional wok cooking.
When two burners appear close on paper, prefer the one that fits your wok securely, places the flame under the curved base, gives you usable control, and matches your fuel connection without improvised parts.
Final buying checklist
- Is the burner propane/LPG-powered in the configuration you are buying?
- Is the published BTU rating for the exact model rather than a product family?
- Does it include a wok ring or bracket, or will you need a properly sized accessory?
- Will your round-bottom or flat-bottom wok sit level and remain stable when full?
- Are the regulator pressure, hose length, fittings, and tank connection compatible?
- Are the burner’s footprint, weight, leg height, and cooking height suitable for your location?
- Does the windscreen protect the flame without enclosing the appliance?
- Is the burner approved for the intended outdoor use, and does the manual specify clearance or installation requirements?
- Can you obtain compatible replacement hoses, regulators, rings, and other wear parts?
- Have you checked local rules if the burner will be used for catering, commercial cooking, or a fixed installation?
Frequently Asked Questions
How many BTUs should an outdoor wok burner have?
There is no universal BTU requirement for restaurant-style wok cooking. About 45,000–55,000 BTU can suit a portable setup, while 95,000 BTU is substantial for a dedicated range and 180,000–270,000 BTU provides more high-heat headroom. The burner’s flame pattern, wok support, control, wind protection, and batch size matter just as much.
Can I use a turkey-fryer or banjo cooker for wok cooking?
Yes, but only if the wok is held securely and the support is compatible with the wok’s shape. The GasOne B-5450 and Bayou Classic KAB4 are general-purpose high-output cookers, not automatically dedicated wok burners. Confirm the grate or add a manufacturer-approved, properly sized wok support.
Do I need a wok ring for an outdoor burner?
A round-bottom wok normally needs a stable wok ring or bracket. A flat-bottom wok may work on a broad grate, but you still need to confirm stability and make sure the flame contacts the wok appropriately. Never balance a wok on loose or improvised supports.
Can I use an outdoor wok burner in a garage or covered patio?
No. Propane wok burners must be used outdoors in an open-air location. Never use one inside a home, garage, tent, enclosed patio, or other poorly ventilated area because of carbon-monoxide and fire risks.
Which outdoor wok burner is closest to a restaurant wok range?
The WOKR13L is the commercial-style option in this comparison. It is a freestanding liquid-propane wok range with a 13-inch wok ring, 18-tip duck-jet burner, adjustable valve, stainless-steel construction, and a listed 95,000-BTU output. Its 3/4-inch gas connection requires professional installation.

The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The Concord Stronghold is the strongest fit for maximum-output, wok-focused outdoor cooking; the Eastman Kahuna is the practical portable choice; and the Cooking Performance Group WOKR13L is the best commercial-style station. GasOne’s B-5450 and Bayou Classic’s KAB4 make more sense when you want one high-heat cooker for woks plus broader outdoor cooking. In every case, match the support and fuel system to the exact wok and burner—BTU alone does not make a restaurant-style stir-fry.
