The 6 Best Bagless Vacuum Cleaners of 2026

The Dyson V15 Detect is the best overall bagless vacuum in this guide, but a corded Dyson upright, Miele cordless, Shark mid-range model, or budget Tineco and Wyze may fit your home better.

Short answer: The Dyson V15 Detect is the best all-around bagless vacuum in this group. It combines strong pickup on bare floors and carpets, effective pet-hair cleaning, good particle filtration, and automatic suction adjustment in a cordless design. For larger homes, heavy carpet, or uninterrupted cleaning, the corded Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra is the better choice.

There is no single best bagless vacuum for every home. Cordless sticks are easier to carry and store, but their dust bins are smaller and their runtime depends on power mode. Corded uprights are heavier and less convenient for quick jobs, but they do not run out of battery and generally hold more debris.

This guide uses performance findings attributed to RTINGS, which says it has tested more than 110 vacuums across debris pickup, air quality, design, build quality, maneuverability, and price. Manufacturer specifications are identified separately. The writer has not personally tested these six models.

Best bagless vacuums at a glance

Model Format Best for Independent test summary Runtime or power Capacity and weight Main drawback
Dyson V15 Detect Cordless stick Best overall Strong bare-floor and carpet pickup, pet-hair cleaning, filtration, and automatic suction adjustment, according to RTINGS Up to 60 minutes; maximum-power runtime is much shorter 0.2-gallon bin; 6.8 pounds listed Small bin and premium pricing
Miele Duoflex HX1 Cordless stick Build quality and filtration Better assessed build quality and air-quality performance than several cheaper alternatives; weaker pickup than the Dyson on larger debris Cordless; check the exact regional configuration Capacity and weight vary by configuration Lower single-pass pickup on large debris and carpets
Shark Stratos Cordless IZ862H Cordless stick Best mid-range option Strong bare-floor pickup, adequate carpet performance, good air quality, and useful under-furniture maneuverability Cordless; runtime varies by mode and floorhead Heavier and bulkier floorhead than the lightest sticks Twin-brushroll head is harder to maneuver in tight spaces
Tineco PURE ONE S11 Cordless stick Best budget option Lightweight, good on bare floors, adequate on carpets, but less effective with pet hair on carpet Up to 40 minutes according to Tineco; just under 45 minutes in RTINGS’ assessment context 0.6-liter bin; detachable 2,500-mAh battery Less robust-feeling body and weaker carpet performance
Wyze Cordless Vacuum S Cordless stick Best cheap option Lightweight and reasonably capable on low-pile carpet, but weaker across other floor surfaces Up to 40 minutes Eco, approximately 23 Medium, and 10 Turbo according to Wyze 0.7-liter dust cup; 2.8-pound main unit Limited accessories and long charging time
Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra Corded upright Large homes and pet owners Strong pickup across surfaces, excellent pet-hair pickup, good particle filtration, and a much larger bin Corded; no battery limit 1.2-liter bin; just under 18 pounds fully loaded Heavy, bulky, noisy, and requires manual cord rewinding

Pickup and air-quality descriptions above summarize RTINGS’ testing of the identified models. Runtime, capacity, and weight figures are manufacturer specifications unless an independent assessment is specifically noted. Product bundles and regional versions can differ.

Our six picks

1. Dyson V15 Detect — Best overall bagless vacuum

The Dyson V15 Detect is the strongest all-around choice when you want cordless convenience without giving up much cleaning performance. RTINGS reports strong debris pickup on both bare floors and carpets, effective pet-hair cleaning, good particle filtration, and automatic suction adjustment through surface detection.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Its equipment also makes it more versatile than a basic stick vacuum. Dyson lists three cleaning modes, a dust-illumination cleaner head, and a hair-screw tool on the relevant configuration. The dust illumination can make fine debris easier to see on hard floors, while the hair-screw tool is intended for upholstery and other smaller surfaces where pet hair collects.

Dyson lists up to 60 minutes of runtime, a listed weight of 6.8 pounds, and a 0.2-gallon dust bin. The phrase up to matters: the headline figure does not mean 60 minutes of high-power carpet cleaning. Boost mode uses substantially more battery, and runtime also changes with the floorhead, surface, battery condition, and selected power setting.

Best for: Mixed flooring, pets, apartments, and shoppers who want the broadest combination of cordless maneuverability and cleaning ability.

Watch-outs: The bin is small compared with an upright, the assessed build quality is only average, and Boost mode sharply reduces runtime. It is also a premium purchase, so it makes most sense when you will use the vacuum frequently enough to value its extra tools and automation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

2. Miele Duoflex HX1 — Best upper-mid-range cordless bagless vacuum

The Miele Duoflex HX1 is the better fit for shoppers who place more value on a solid-feeling cordless design and air-quality performance than on the highest possible debris-pickup scores. RTINGS gives it stronger assessed build quality and air-quality performance than several less expensive alternatives.

That does not make it the most powerful vacuum in this group. RTINGS reports that its weaker motor produces lower single-pass pickup than the Dyson V15 Detect, particularly when dealing with larger debris and carpets. If you routinely collect cereal, grit, or substantial pet hair from carpet, the Dyson’s stronger cleaning performance is the safer choice.

The Duoflex HX1 is more appealing in a smaller home or apartment, where easy storage, maneuverability, and filtration can matter more than clearing large areas of carpet as quickly as possible. The available evidence supports a higher RTINGS build-quality score; it does not establish a guaranteed longer lifespan or prove that the vacuum will outlast every competitor.

Best for: Smaller homes and apartments where maneuverability, perceived construction quality, and air-quality performance are priorities.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Watch-outs: Expect weaker pickup than the Dyson on larger debris and carpet. Confirm the exact regional model and included accessories before ordering, since package contents can vary.

3. Shark Stratos Cordless IZ862H — Best mid-range bagless vacuum

The Shark Stratos Cordless IZ862H occupies the practical middle ground between inexpensive cordless sticks and premium flagships. RTINGS categorizes it as its best mid-range bagless vacuum, reporting strong bare-floor pickup, adequate carpet performance, good air-quality results, and useful maneuverability features.

Rank #2
Dyson V15 Detect™ Origin Cordless Vacuum
  • Powerful and intelligent for whole-home deep cleaning. Reveals invisible dust.
  • 100% more power.¹ 60 minutes of run time.²
  • Power trigger helps maximize energy efficiency, only using power where you need it.
  • Intelligently adapts power based on debris detected and floor type. LCD screen shows total picked-up particles on-screen as you clean.³ Also displays power mode, maintenance alerts, and remaining run time to the second.
  • 2 Advanced cleaner heads. The Fluffy Optic cleaner head reveals invisible dust. Gentle on hard floors but tough on dirt. The Digital Motorbar cleaner head deep cleans all floor types and de-tangles long hair and pet hair as you clean.

Its hinged wand is particularly helpful when cleaning beneath furniture without fully bending down. The dirt sensor can also adjust suction automatically. However, RTINGS notes that the sensor does not respond consistently to every floor-type change, so automatic adjustment should be treated as a convenience rather than a guarantee of optimal suction on every surface.

The twin-brushroll floorhead is another trade-off. It can improve the vacuum’s versatility, but the head is harder to maneuver in tight spaces than a simpler, narrower design. RTINGS also notes that the brushroll is not removable, which makes deep cleaning or removing wrapped hair less convenient.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best for: Homes with hard floors, carpets, and everyday pet-hair cleanup where a mid-range cordless vacuum is preferred.

Watch-outs: The floorhead is relatively bulky, the dirt sensor can be inconsistent when surfaces change, and the non-removable brushroll complicates maintenance. Make sure a listing identifies the IZ862H configuration rather than a similarly named Stratos variant.

4. Tineco PURE ONE S11 — Best budget bagless vacuum

The Tineco PURE ONE S11 is the budget pick for shoppers who want a lightweight cordless vacuum with automatic suction adjustment. RTINGS found it easier to maneuver than the heavier Shark Stratos, with good bare-floor pickup and adequate carpet performance.

Tineco’s specifications list a 0.6-liter dustbin, a detachable 2,500-mAh battery, an LED display, four-stage sealed HEPA filtration, and iLoop dirt sensing that automatically adjusts suction. Those features give the S11 a more sophisticated control system than its price category might suggest.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There are meaningful limits. RTINGS reports weaker pet-hair performance on carpet and a less robust-feeling body than the more expensive choices. Tineco lists up to 40 minutes of runtime, while RTINGS assessed just under 45 minutes in its testing context. Those figures are not contradictory guarantees: test conditions, modes, attachments, and reporting methods differ. More importantly, neither figure should be interpreted as maximum-suction runtime for a whole home.

S11 packages can include different attachments and floorheads. Compare the exact bundle before buying, especially if you need a motorized brush, upholstery tool, or additional battery.

Best for: Budget-conscious apartment dwellers who want low weight and automatic dirt sensing.

Watch-outs: Carpet and pet-hair performance is below the premium models, the body feels less substantial, and package contents vary.

5. Wyze Cordless Vacuum S — Best cheap bagless vacuum

The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S makes the most sense when the purchase price and low weight matter more than broad floor-surface performance. RTINGS recommends it as its best cheap bagless vacuum, particularly when it is available below its usual retail price.

RTINGS found it lightweight and reasonably capable on low-pile carpet, but weaker on other floor surfaces. It also has thin-feeling construction and a limited accessory package. That combination makes it a sensible tool for quick cleanups rather than a strong choice for a large, carpet-heavy home or demanding pet-hair workload.

Rank #3
Dyson V15 Detect Total Clean Extra (Renewed Premium)
  • Pioneering Dyson technology, refurbished by our dedicated team of experts. Inspected, tested, and renewed. Guaranteed to our uncompromising standards.

Wyze lists the main unit at 2.8 pounds, with 100 air watts or 20,000 Pa of turbo suction, a 0.7-liter dust cup, an interchangeable battery, and an LED screen. Its runtime figures are approximately 40 minutes in Eco, 23 minutes in Medium, and 10 minutes in Turbo. Therefore, a claim of 40-minute runtime describes the lowest-power mode, not sustained Turbo cleaning.

RTINGS reported more than 40 minutes of maximum runtime in its own testing context, but the manufacturer’s mode-specific figures are more useful for planning actual cleaning. Charging time is relatively long, so an extra battery may be worth considering only if the exact model and accessory compatibility are confirmed.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best for: Small apartments, stairs, quick messes, and shoppers who want the lightest, least expensive option in this shortlist.

Watch-outs: It is the least versatile across floor surfaces here, includes fewer accessories, has lightweight construction, and takes a long time to charge.

6. Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra — Best corded upright bagless vacuum

The Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra is the right choice when cordless convenience is less important than uninterrupted power, larger capacity, and pet-hair performance. RTINGS reports strong debris pickup across surfaces, excellent pet-hair pickup, good particle filtration, and a 1.2-liter dust bin that is substantially larger than the bins on typical cordless sticks.

The dedicated pet-grooming tool and upright format suit homes with multiple pets or significant carpet. Because the machine is corded, you can continue cleaning without stopping to recharge or swapping batteries. That advantage becomes more important in larger houses, where a cordless stick may require several charging cycles or a second battery.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The cost is portability. RTINGS reports a fully loaded weight of just under 18 pounds. It is also bulkier and noisier than the cordless models, less convenient for a few crumbs or a single stair, and uses manual cord rewinding. Consider the available storage space and the amount of lifting required before choosing it over a stick vacuum.

Best for: Larger homes, carpet-heavy rooms, pet owners, and anyone who prefers corded cleaning without battery limits.

Watch-outs: It is heavy, bulky, louder, and less convenient for spot cleaning. Its strengths are capacity and sustained cleaning, not portability.

How to choose the right one

Start with the corded-versus-cordless decision

A cordless stick is usually the better daily tool for apartments, stairs, kitchens, and quick cleanups. It is easier to grab, carry, and store, but the dust cup fills sooner and the vacuum’s usable cleaning time depends on the power mode.

A corded upright is more appropriate for a larger home, extensive carpeting, or a user who wants to clean continuously. The Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra is the only corded model in this selection, and its nearly 18-pound loaded weight is an important part of the decision rather than a minor inconvenience.

Match the vacuum to your floors

  • Mostly bare floors: The Dyson V15 Detect, Shark Stratos, and Tineco PURE ONE S11 all have strong or good bare-floor results in the cited RTINGS assessments.
  • Mixed floors: The Dyson V15 Detect is the broadest cordless choice, while the Shark Stratos offers a less expensive middle ground.
  • Carpet-heavy rooms: Favor the Dyson V15 Detect for cordless cleaning or the Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra if you can accept an upright’s weight and cord.
  • Low-pile carpet and light-duty cleaning: The Wyze Cordless Vacuum S can be adequate, but it is not the most versatile option on this list.

Consider pet hair separately from ordinary debris

Pet-hair performance is not the same as general floor pickup. RTINGS reports effective pet-hair cleaning for the Dyson V15 Detect and excellent pet-hair pickup for the Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra. The Tineco PURE ONE S11 is less effective with pet hair on carpet, and the Wyze is a weaker choice when a home has demanding pet-hair needs.

Rank #4
Dyson V15 Detect Plus Cordless Vacuum, Illumination Reveals dust, 240AW, 3 Power Modes, Up to 60 Minutes,² Deep Cleans Hard Floors and Carpets, Detangles pet Hair, Converts to Handheld
  • 2 Advanced cleaner heads and 4 attachments to clean up high, down low, and everywhere in between. Plus wall dock and charger.

Also check the floorhead and tool design. The V15 Detect’s hair-screw tool and the Ball Animal 3 Extra’s dedicated pet-grooming tool can be useful, but included attachments depend on the exact package. Do not assume that a similarly named model includes the same tools.

Do not compare runtime numbers without comparing modes

Vacuum makers normally publish an up to figure under favorable conditions. Actual runtime changes with suction mode, floor type, motorized attachments, battery age, and whether the vacuum is working against carpet.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Dyson V15 Detect: Dyson lists up to 60 minutes, but Boost mode reduces runtime sharply.
  • Tineco PURE ONE S11: Tineco lists up to 40 minutes; RTINGS assessed just under 45 minutes in its test context.
  • Wyze Cordless Vacuum S: Wyze lists approximately 40 minutes in Eco, 23 minutes in Medium, and 10 minutes in Turbo.

For a larger home, a corded upright or a cordless model with a confirmed spare-battery option is usually more practical than relying on the headline maximum.

Take dust-cup size seriously

Bagless vacuums avoid the recurring purchase of disposable bags, but their dirt compartments must be emptied and their filters maintained. The cordless models generally hold less debris: Dyson lists a 0.2-gallon bin for the V15 Detect, while Tineco lists 0.6 liter and Wyze lists 0.7 liter. The Ball Animal 3 Extra’s listed 1.2-liter bin is better suited to longer cleaning sessions and homes with pets.

A small bin is not automatically a problem in an apartment, but it becomes frustrating when cleaning multiple carpeted rooms or collecting substantial pet hair. Empty the cup before it reaches its maximum line so airflow and pickup are not unnecessarily compromised.

For allergies, look beyond the word HEPA

Bagless vacuums can release dust while the cup is emptied. That makes filtration, sealing, and emptying behavior important for allergy-sensitive users. RTINGS independently reports air-quality results for the tested models, which is more informative than treating every manufacturer filtration statement as equivalent.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For example, Shark says its Anti-Allergen Complete Seal with HEPA filtration traps 99.99% of dust and allergens under a specified ASTM F1977 particle test. That is a claim under a particular test method and should not be read as a guarantee of universal allergen removal in every home. Tineco lists four-stage sealed HEPA filtration for the PURE ONE S11, while RTINGS reports good air-quality results for the Shark Stratos and good particle filtration for the Dyson V15 Detect.

If allergies are a primary concern, choose the model with the strongest independent air-quality evidence that also fits your cleaning needs, empty the bin carefully, and follow the manufacturer’s filter-maintenance instructions. No vacuum eliminates all airborne allergens from a room.

Bagless vacuum maintenance that prevents common problems

  1. Empty the dust cup before it is packed full. If possible, empty it outdoors or into a sealed trash container. Move slowly to reduce the dust cloud.
  2. Turn the vacuum off before clearing blockages. Check the floorhead, wand, inlet, and dust-cup path for hair or debris.
  3. Inspect the brushroll regularly. Hair buildup can reduce agitation and increase resistance. The Shark Stratos’ non-removable brushroll makes this task less convenient than on designs with an easily removable roller.
  4. Clean or replace filters exactly as the manual specifies. Do not install a filter that is not explicitly compatible with the model and revision. If a filter is washable, let it dry completely before reinstalling it; a wet filter can cause problems.
  5. Plan for battery ownership. Cordless batteries eventually lose capacity. Before purchasing a replacement battery or charger, verify the exact model number, voltage, connector, and regional version.
  6. Check attachments before ordering. S11 packages and other product bundles can differ. A tool that fits one revision or bundle may not fit another.

For maintenance purchases, use model-specific replacement filters and batteries only after confirming compatibility with the exact vacuum. The same brand name does not establish that an accessory fits every model.

Price and availability

Prices, discounts, stock, and bundle contents change frequently. This guide does not publish fixed prices because a temporary sale or an out-of-stock listing can make a recommendation misleading by the time it is read. Check live retailer data immediately before publication or purchase, and compare the exact model number rather than a broad product family.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Be especially careful with listings that use a familiar name but substitute another configuration. For this guide, the relevant identifiers include the Shark Stratos Cordless IZ862H and the Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra. For the Tineco PURE ONE S11 and Wyze Cordless Vacuum S, confirm the included battery, floorhead, and accessory set.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are bagless vacuums better than bagged vacuums?

Neither design is universally better. Bagless vacuums avoid buying disposable bags and let you see when the dirt compartment needs emptying, but emptying the cup can release dust and filters require regular maintenance. Bagged models generally contain collected debris more cleanly during disposal. For allergy-sensitive users, compare filtration and emptying behavior rather than choosing solely by format.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Which bagless vacuum is best for pet hair?

The Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra is the strongest choice here for corded pet-hair cleaning, while the Dyson V15 Detect is the best cordless option. RTINGS reports excellent pet-hair pickup for the Ball Animal 3 Extra and effective pet-hair cleaning for the V15 Detect. The Tineco PURE ONE S11 and Wyze Cordless Vacuum S are less suitable for demanding pet hair on carpet.

Are these vacuums suitable for concrete or construction dust?

No. These are household vacuums, not a substitute for a wet/dry shop vacuum or dust extractor selected for construction materials. Fine concrete, masonry, and similar dust can require equipment with specific filtration, collection, and jobsite-safety features. Follow the tool manufacturer’s instructions and applicable workplace requirements.

Can a cordless vacuum really run for 40 or 60 minutes?

It can under the manufacturer’s stated conditions, usually in a lower-power mode and with a particular floorhead or attachment. It should not be assumed that the same figure applies to Turbo or Boost cleaning on carpet. For example, Wyze lists approximately 40 minutes in Eco but 10 minutes in Turbo, while Dyson’s V15 Detect figure is up to 60 minutes rather than a guaranteed high-power runtime.

Which model is best for allergy sufferers?

Prioritize independent air-quality performance, sealed filtration, and a dust cup that can be emptied carefully. The Dyson V15 Detect has good particle-filtration results in RTINGS’ assessment; RTINGS also reports good air-quality results for the Shark Stratos, and Tineco lists four-stage sealed HEPA filtration for the PURE ONE S11. These features can reduce airborne dust but do not guarantee complete allergen removal.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Buy the Dyson V15 Detect for the best overall cordless performance, the Dyson Ball Animal 3 Extra for sustained corded cleaning and pet hair, or the Tineco PURE ONE S11 for a lighter budget option. Choose the Wyze only for basic, low-cost cleaning, and select the Miele or Shark when their specific strengths—air quality and build feel for the Miele, or mid-range versatility for the Shark—matter more than getting the highest pickup results.
