1. nutribullet Ultra: Best personal blender overall
The nutribullet Ultra Personal Blender is the strongest general-purpose choice for people who mainly make smoothies, shakes, and small servings.
#1 Best Overall
- A 1200-watt motor makes the Ultra our most powerful single-serve blender. It’s also our quietest, with a specialized design that produces lower-frequency sound.
- A streamlined profile takes up minimal space on the kitchen counter and brings innovative design into your home.
- A glow interface illuminates two blending options as soon as your cup meets the power base. Choose the full circle for the automated smoothie cycle, or the pulse circle for hands-on control.
- Our blending cups are now made with Tritan Renew, a durable material made with 50% certified recycled content. They’re also BPA-free, shatter-resistant, and dishwasher-safe. Learn more about Tritan Renew here: nutribullet.com/sustainability.
- The Rapid Extractor Blade is equipped with a stainless-steel platform and titanium coating to increase longevity and reduce blending time. Each blade comes with a 5-year limited warranty (visit nutribullet.com/warranty for details).
Bon Appétit named it the best personal blender overall after testing 12 models. In that publication’s testing, it produced smooth results with fibrous kale, frozen fruit, and almond milk, and made smooth pesto in 30 seconds. Those are the publication’s reported test results—not tests conducted by this site.
Nutribullet’s official specifications list a 1,200-watt motor, a rapid extractor blade, 24- and 32-ounce cups, and two to-go lids. The manufacturer also calls it its quietest single-serve blender yet and says the cups are made from Tritan Renew. Those noise and material descriptions are manufacturer claims, not independent performance measurements.
Why it stands out
- Strong choice for frozen fruit, leafy greens, protein powder, and daily smoothies.
- Offers more than one cup size for different single-serving needs.
- Includes to-go lids, so the blending vessel can serve as a travel cup.
- Its performance case is supported by independent testing, not just the motor rating.
Limitations: The cups still impose a strict small-batch limit, and this is not the right appliance for hot liquids or family-size recipes. A 1,200-watt rating is only one specification; it does not guarantee better results in every recipe.

2. Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO: Best for thick mixtures and versatility
The Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO is the best pick for readers who want to make more than drinkable smoothies. It is especially useful for thick smoothie bowls, nut butter, frozen desserts, and dense spreads.
RTINGS ranks it as its best personal blender after testing 40 personal blenders within a larger database of more than 135 blenders. Its reported strengths include very smooth single-serving smoothies, effective ice handling, dishwasher-safe components, automatic programs, and resealable drinking lids.
The key extra is the smoothie-bowl vessel. It has a built-in rotating arm that helps move thick mixtures toward the blades, reducing the need to stop and scrape the sides. Ninja’s official information for the closely related Foodi smoothie-bowl and nutrient-extractor configuration lists a 1,200-peak-watt motor, 24-ounce cups, a 14-ounce bowl with built-in tamper, and Auto-iQ programs for smoothies, extraction, bowls, and spreads.

Best for: Smoothie bowls, nut butter, frozen desserts, thick spreads, and hands-off automatic programs.
Limitations: It is more complicated to store than a basic drink-only blender, and its extra vessel and accessories may cost more than a simpler personal blender.
3. Beast Mighty 850 Plus: Best premium compact design
The Beast Mighty 850 Plus is a strong alternative for design-conscious shoppers who value vessel options and a compact footprint.
Recommended Free Tools
Good Housekeeping named it its best overall personal blender after testing more than 30 personal blenders. The model has an 850-watt motor, three vessels, and several drinking, storage, and straw accessories.
Beast lists a 26.5-ounce total vessel volume, but the official blending capacity is 21 ounces. That distinction matters: the larger number describes the vessel’s total size, not necessarily the amount you should blend. The manufacturer also lists two settings, stainless-steel blades, BPA-free Tritan vessels, a two-year warranty, and dimensions of approximately 4.13 by 4.13 by 15 inches.
Its ribbed vessels and minimalist appearance give it a more design-forward feel than many bullet blenders. However, do not assume that its appearance or 850-watt rating makes it the strongest performer. RTINGS found it quieter and visually distinctive but less effective than the Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO at producing smooth results with fibrous ingredients.
Best for: Compact kitchens, attractive countertop appliances, smoothies, dressings, dips, and users who want multiple drinking and storage vessels.
Limitations: Its practical blending capacity is 21 ounces, not the full 26.5-ounce vessel volume, and it is not the top choice for the smoothest fibrous-ingredient blends.

4. Ninja Nutri-Blender Pro with Auto-iQ BN401: Best smoothie-focused value
The Ninja Nutri-Blender Pro with Auto-iQ BN401 is the sensible value choice for people who mainly make smoothies and protein shakes.
RTINGS rates it as its best upper-mid-range personal blender. In its testing, the BN401 made smooth blends from difficult ingredients such as spinach and pineapple, handled a few ice cubes, and included two 24-ounce jars with spout lids. Its automatic programs can run a blending cycle without requiring constant button-holding.
Ninja identifies the model as a single-serve blender with two functions and dishwasher-safe containers, lids, and blades. The spout lids are useful for taking a finished shake to work, the gym, or a job site.

Best for: Smoothie and protein-shake drinkers who want strong results and travel-ready cups without paying for the DUO’s thick-mixture accessories.
Limitations: It is less versatile than the Foodi Power Nutri DUO, particularly for thick bowls, nut butter, and other dense mixtures.
5. Ninja Blast Max: Best cordless personal blender
The Ninja Blast Max Portable Blender BC251 is the right choice when you need to blend away from a wall outlet. It is aimed at commuters, gym users, office workers, travelers, and anyone who values mobility more than maximum sustained power.

Good Housekeeping named it its best portable personal blender in its 2026 testing roundup. Ninja’s official information describes a cordless design with an 11.1-volt rechargeable base, a 22-ounce twist-and-go vessel, a sip lid, a carrying handle, three settings, and a removable vessel that can be used without carrying the motor base. Ninja also describes the vessel as leakproof and designed to crush ice and frozen fruit.

- Full-kitchen prep, one motor base Operate a personal blender, a food processor, and a coffee & spice grinder, all from the same Ultra Motor Base.
- Personal Blender. Two Tritan Renew blending cups and the ultra-durable Rapid Extractor Blade allow you to make delicious smoothies and more.
- Food Processor. Quickly chops, slices, and shreds a wide array of ingredients for unlimited culinary creations.
- Coffee & Spice Grinder. Efficiently grinds coffee beans, spices, and herbs for superior flavor and potency.
- Blending, illuminated. A glow interface illuminates two blending options as soon as your attachment meets the Motor Base. Choose the full circle for the automated cycle, or the pulse circle for hands-on control.
A SharkNinja product page lists model BC251NV at $99.99 when accessed and gives it a one-year limited warranty. Because price, stock, colors, bundles, and regional model numbers can change, verify those details before publication or purchase.
The newer Blast Max should not be confused with the smaller Ninja Blast. Food Network’s testing summary described the standard Blast as an 18-ounce USB-C-compatible model that made smoothies in 30 seconds or less, with a leakproof sip lid and carrying handle. The Blast Max is a larger, newer model with different specifications.
Best for: Blending at offices, gyms, campsites, while traveling, or anywhere an outlet is inconvenient.
Limitations: Cordless operation brings trade-offs in charging, runtime, capacity, and sustained power. Choose it for convenience and portability—not because it universally outperforms the corded models above.
Corded or cordless: which type should you buy?
| Choose a corded blender if… | Choose a cordless blender if… |
|---|---|
| You regularly blend frozen fruit or leafy greens. | You often blend at a gym, office, campsite, or while traveling. |
| You want more sustained power for repeated batches. | There may be no convenient wall outlet. |
| The blender will live on a kitchen counter. | A removable drinking vessel and carrying handle matter more than maximum capacity. |
| You want the broadest choice of cups and accessories. | You accept charging and runtime limits in exchange for portability. |
For most home users, a corded model is the better default. A cordless model is a portability solution, not automatically an upgrade in blending performance.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose a personal blender
1. Start with the recipes you actually make
- Smoothies and protein shakes: Look for a corded model with a travel lid and enough capacity for your normal serving.
- Leafy greens and frozen fruit: Favor sustained corded power and independent evidence of smooth results.
- Smoothie bowls and nut butter: Choose a model with a dedicated thick-mixture vessel or tamper, such as the Foodi Power Nutri DUO.
- Dips, dressings, pesto, and small sauces: Vessel shape, easy cleaning, and small minimum quantities may matter more than the largest wattage number.
- Travel and commuting: A cordless model with a secure sip lid and carrying handle may be worth the performance trade-off.
2. Treat wattage as a clue, not a performance score
Motor ratings are not directly comparable across brands or product categories. The nutribullet Ultra’s 1,200-watt rating and the Ninja DUO’s 1,200-peak-watt rating are not, by themselves, proof that either will outperform every 850-watt or cordless model in every task. Blade design, vessel shape, ingredients, program timing, and the amount of liquid all affect results. The more useful evidence is independent testing with the foods you plan to blend.
3. Check usable capacity, not just the largest number
Manufacturers may list total vessel volume separately from recommended or official blending capacity. The clearest example here is the Beast Mighty 850 Plus: its vessels total 26.5 ounces, but its listed blending capacity is 21 ounces. Also check whether the stated capacity is for the blending cup, a drinking cup, or an accessory bowl.

4. Confirm what is in the box
Compare the exact model number, not just the product family. Check for blending cups, bowl vessels, travel or spout lids, storage lids, carrying handles, and any tamper. This is particularly important with Ninja Foodi Power Nutri products, whose related configurations can include different accessory bundles.
Best Value
- HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE: The original nutribullet has everything you need to take that first step toward a healthier lifestyle
- NUTRITION IN NO TIME: Effortlessly blend fruits, vegetables, liquids and so much more into nutritious smoothies, simply and deliciously delivering key nutrients to your body
- POWERFUL MOTOR: 700 peak watts of power in the original nutribullet blender turns anything from strawberries to spinach into smooth, sippable nutrition
- ESSENTIAL DESIGN: Simple, intuitive design makes this a device you'll use every day. Just push, twist and blend. Yes, it's that easy
- CLEANS LIKE A DREAM: Simply twist off the blades, rinse with soap and water, and put the cups on the top rack of the dishwasher. That's health without the hassle
5. Check cleaning and replacement support
Dishwasher-safe parts can make a personal blender much easier to live with, but confirm which parts qualify: cup, lid, blade assembly, or bowl. If you are replacing a lost or worn component, match the replacement part to the exact model number. A replacement cup or blade for a related Ninja system should not be assumed to fit the DUO you own.
What personal blenders are not good at
- Hot liquids: Do not blend hot ingredients unless the specific manufacturer’s instructions explicitly allow it. Personal-blender cups are generally intended for cold or room-temperature preparations.
- Large batches: A personal cup is not a practical substitute for a full-size pitcher when serving several people.
- Extensive food processing: These appliances can handle small sauces, dips, dressings, and similar jobs, but they are not full food processors.
- Long continuous operation: Small motors and cordless batteries are not intended for unlimited repeated blending. Follow the manual’s cycle and cooling guidance.
Our methodology
Our recommendations are based on current independent testing from established review labs and publications, cross-checked against official product specifications, included accessories, warranties, and current U.S. availability. The evidence includes RTINGS testing of 40 personal blenders, Good Housekeeping testing of more than 30 personal blenders, Bon Appétit testing of 12 models, Food Network’s real-home-kitchen testing, and Consumer Reports’ 2026 lab-tested roundup.
“Tested” in this article refers to the named publications’ testing. This site did not independently test these blenders. Prices, stock, colors, retailer bundles, warranties, and model identifiers can change, so verify those details immediately before purchasing.
Which personal blender should you buy?
Buy the nutribullet Ultra if you want the best all-around corded personal blender for smoothies, shakes, frozen fruit, and greens. Choose the Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO if thick bowls, nut butter, and automatic programs justify its extra accessories. Pick the Beast Mighty 850 Plus for its premium compact design and vessel selection, or the Ninja Nutri-Blender Pro BN401 for a smoothie-focused value option. If you need to blend without an outlet, the Ninja Blast Max is the most appropriate choice—but accept the capacity and battery compromises that come with cordless convenience.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you blend hot liquids in a personal blender?
No. Personal blenders are generally designed for cold or room-temperature ingredients. Do not blend hot liquids unless the specific manufacturer’s instructions explicitly permit it. Hot contents can create pressure and may damage or overflow a personal-blender cup.
Are cordless personal blenders as good as corded models?
A corded model is usually better for frequent home use, frozen fruit, leafy greens, and repeated blending because it can provide more sustained power. A cordless model is better when you need to blend at a gym, office, campsite, or while traveling.
Can I use replacement cups or blades from another Ninja blender?
Check the exact model number and the manufacturer’s compatibility information. Cups, lids, bowls, and blades from related product families are not automatically interchangeable.

Personal blenders are best for single servings and small portions. For family-size smoothies, hot soup, large batches, or extensive food processing, use a full-size blender or food processor.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The nutribullet Ultra is the best personal blender for most smoothie drinkers, the Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO is the most versatile for thick mixtures, and the Ninja Blast Max is the best choice only when cordless portability is the priority.
