The Chefman Obliterator is the best budget blender overall. It is the most versatile of these four tested-and-reviewed models, handling smoothies, fibrous ingredients, ice, soups, and thick mixtures better than the alternatives. For a quieter kitchen, choose the BLACK+DECKER; for soup, the nutribullet; and for frozen drinks, the Ninja.
Short answer: The Chefman Obliterator is the best budget blender overall because it is the most capable across smoothies, fibrous produce, ice, soups, nut butter, hummus, and other thick mixtures. Choose the BLACK+DECKER Quiet Blender with Cyclone Glass Jar if lower noise and a glass pitcher matter most, the nutribullet Blender Combo for hot soups and larger batches, or the Ninja Professional Blender 1000 for frozen drinks and large amounts of crushed ice.

How these budget blenders were evaluated
This guide does not claim firsthand testing. It synthesizes hands-on testing reported by RTINGS and Food Network, then checks manufacturer specifications, safety instructions, accessories, and warranty information against official product documentation.
#1 Best Overall
- ICE-CRUSHING POWER: This 1380W high powered blender obliterates anything in its path! Its advanced airflow breaks down ice with ease while staying quiet throughout operation, making it a perfect smoothie blender or crushed ice maker.
- HIGH BLENDING CAPACITY: With a 48 oz shatter-resistant Tritan blending jar, the Obliterator has enough space to make shakes and smoothies for everyone. The durable construction even allows for blending hot liquids with the lid cover removed (cover with a towel to avoid excess splatter.)
- AUTO BLEND: Optimize your blending without any guesswork! The Auto Blend function analyzes every ingredient added, automatically customizing the blend settings for your ideal consistency every time. It’s a professional blender that does the hard work for you.
- INTUITIVE CONTROLS: The dial control panel includes 5 blending speeds and a pulse option to finetune your blending. Presets include a countdown timer and LED alerts notify you when you need to “Fix Jar” or “Add Liquid.”
- TWO WAYS TO CLEAN: Keeping this blender for kitchen clean is a breeze. Either run the “Clean” preset with soap and water or throw the accessories directly into the dishwasher and avoid any hassle. The innovative blunt-blade design ensures safety while cleaning without sacrificing performance.
RTINGS reports testing more than 125 blenders and publishes task-specific scores. Food Network says it tested more than 21 popular blenders with frozen margaritas, kale-berry smoothies, nuts, nut butter, and mayonnaise. Those methods matter because a blender that excels at crushing ice may be poor at nut butter, while one that makes smooth soup may struggle with frozen drinks.
1. Chefman Obliterator: best budget blender overall
Best for: shoppers who want one affordable blender to handle the widest range of jobs.
The Chefman Obliterator is the strongest all-purpose choice in this group. RTINGS gives it scores of 8.9 for multi-purpose blending, 9.0 for single-serving smoothies, 8.8 for ice crushing, 8.7 for soups, 8.0 for build quality, and 8.5 for cleaning. Its reported performance covers the jobs that expose weaknesses in inexpensive blenders: fibrous ingredients, thick mixtures such as hummus and nut butter, ice-based drinks, hot soups, and both small and large smoothie batches.
The price needs careful qualification. RTINGS reports that it is often available for approximately $70 on sale, but Chefman lists an MSRP that can reach about $150. It is therefore a particularly attractive buy when discounted, not a blender that should always be described as a $70 product.
Specifications and features
- 1,380-watt motor
- 48-ounce shatter-resistant Tritan jar
- Five speeds plus pulse
- Auto Blend function
- Clean preset
- Dishwasher-safe accessories
- Combo configuration includes a 20-ounce travel jar and tamper/scraper
The 48-ounce vessel is the main capacity compromise. It is adequate for ordinary household batches, but it is less suitable for serving a large family than the Ninja’s 72-ounce pitcher or the nutribullet’s 64-ounce pitcher.
Hot-liquid and cleaning precautions
Chefman supports hot-liquid blending under specific conditions. The product information says to remove the lid cover and use appropriate precautions, including a towel to help prevent splatter. Do not interpret “hot-liquid capable” as permission to fill the jar with boiling liquid or seal hot contents without following the manufacturer’s directions.

Verdict: Buy the Chefman when you want the fewest compromises across everyday blending tasks and can accept a smaller jar and loud operation at high speeds.

Best for: apartment kitchens, open-plan homes, and shoppers who prefer a glass jar.
The BLACK+DECKER is the value-oriented pick rather than the performance champion. RTINGS rates it 8.3 for multi-purpose use, 8.4 for single-serving smoothies, 8.5 for soups, 8.1 for noise, and 9.0 for cleaning. Compared with many inexpensive full-size blenders, it is noticeably quieter, making it a sensible choice when someone is sleeping nearby or the kitchen opens directly into a living area.
Its 48-ounce glass jar is the defining feature. Glass is less prone than plastic to scratches, stains, and persistent odors. It also gives the blender a more substantial feel, but it is heavier and can break if dropped or handled carelessly.
Specifications and features
- 48-ounce glass jar
- 900-watt peak-performance rating
- Three speeds
- Three smart functions plus pulse
- 24-ounce personal jar
- Dishwasher-safe components
- Two-year limited warranty
RTINGS found that it handles smoothies, hot soups, sauces, and smaller servings adequately. It is less consistent when crushing larger batches of ice and needs more scraping for dense mixtures such as nut butter. Those limitations are important: a quieter blender is not automatically a better frozen-drink or high-thickness blender.

Hot-liquid caution
The BLACK+DECKER manual warns against blending boiling liquids and says hot liquids should cool before blending. Follow the manual rather than assuming that a glass container makes boiling-liquid blending safe.
Rank #3
- ICE-CRUSHING POWER: This 1380W high powered countertop blender obliterates anything in its path!

- TAKE IT TO GO: The Obliterator comes with a 20 oz. travel jar to enjoy shakes and smoothies wherever you go. Blend your preferred beverage and top with the sipping lid to enjoy drinks on your way to work or between sets at the gym.
Verdict: Choose this model when noise, glass, easy cleanup, and a low purchase price outweigh maximum ice-crushing and thick-blend performance.
3. nutribullet Blender Combo: best budget blender for soups
Best for: soups, sauces, purées, smoothies, and larger hot batches.
The nutribullet Blender Combo is the most specialized recommendation here. RTINGS gives it a 9.4 soup score, 9.0 jar-capacity score, 8.3 single-serving smoothie score, and 9.0 cleaning score. It handled fibrous ingredients such as kale smoothly and accommodates hot ingredients in its large pitcher. For someone who regularly makes blended vegetable soup, sauce, or purée, that combination is more useful than a strong ice score.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

The full-size pitcher holds 64 ounces, giving it more practical batch capacity than the Chefman or BLACK+DECKER. The official product information identifies a 1,200-watt blender with multiple speeds, pulse, extraction functions, a tamper, a vented lid for hot ingredients, and a one-year warranty. A listed price around $119.99 is a snapshot, not a permanent price.
Where it falls short
RTINGS gives the nutribullet an ice-crushing score of only 3.4 and reports that it is not well suited to thick recipes such as nut butter or hummus. The manufacturer also advises against crushing ice without added liquid. In other words, do not select this blender because it has a large pitcher if your main goal is dry ice crushing, frozen cocktails, or dense spreads.
Hot-blending safety
The vented lid is designed for hot ingredients, but hot blending still requires care. Never overfill the pitcher, seal hot contents in a way that traps pressure, or assume that every recipe can be blended at a boil. Use the manufacturer’s instructions for temperature, fill level, and lid handling.

Long-term ownership
If an existing 1,200-watt nutribullet Blender Combo owner eventually needs a replacement vessel, nutribullet lists a compatible 64-ounce replacement pitcher. Check the exact model and compatibility before ordering; replacement parts are not automatically interchangeable across every nutribullet blender.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsVerdict: This is the best choice of the four for hot soups and large purées, but a poor fit for recipes that demand aggressive ice crushing or very thick blending.
4. Ninja Professional Blender 1000: best budget blender for frozen drinks
Best for: margaritas, daiquiris, slushies, heavily iced smoothies, and large frozen-drink batches.
The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 has the clearest single-task advantage. RTINGS gives it an ice-crushing score of 9.5 and a jar-capacity score of 9.8. Its 72-ounce pitcher produces fluffy, snow-like crushed ice quickly, making it the most suitable option here for parties and frozen drinks. Its typical price is approximately $100, although retail pricing changes.
Capacity is not the same as liquid capacity
The pitcher is marketed as 72 ounces, but the official owner’s guide specifies a 64-ounce maximum liquid capacity. Do not fill it with 72 ounces of liquid simply because that is the nominal vessel size. Leave room for ingredients to circulate and follow the fill markings.
The compromises
- It should not be used to hot-blend soups or sauces.
- Fibrous ingredients may remain grainier than they do in the Chefman or nutribullet.
- The controls are basic rather than program-rich.
- The stacked-blade assembly can make cleaning awkward.
Model identification also matters. The original Professional Blender 1000 is documented as BL610 and BL611 with a 1,000-watt motor. It is different from the newer Ninja Professional Plus Blender with Auto-iQ, model BN701, which is marketed with automatic programs and a 1,400-peak-watt claim. A listing for “Ninja Professional” is not specific enough by itself; check the model number.

Verdict: Buy this one for ice first. It is the strongest frozen-drink performer in the group, but the wrong choice for hot soup and a less polished all-purpose blender.

| If your priority is… | Choose… | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One blender for the most recipes | Chefman Obliterator | Best reported balance across fibrous produce, thick mixtures, ice, soups, and smoothies. |
| Lower noise and a glass pitcher | BLACK+DECKER Quiet Blender | Its noise score and glass jar distinguish it from the other picks. |
| Hot soup and large purée batches | nutribullet Blender Combo | Highest soup score in this group and a vented 64-ounce pitcher. |
| Frozen cocktails and crushed ice | Ninja Professional Blender 1000 | Highest ice-crushing score and largest nominal pitcher. |
| Nut butter or hummus | Chefman Obliterator | It is the only pick here specifically reported as handling thick mixtures well. |
| A personal serving as well as a full-size batch | Chefman combo or BLACK+DECKER | Both product configurations list a smaller personal/travel vessel. |
What to check before buying
- Match the blender to the hardest recipe you make. Smoothies are relatively forgiving. Ice, nut butter, hummus, and hot soup expose different limitations.
- Check usable capacity, not just pitcher capacity. A 72-ounce pitcher does not necessarily hold 72 ounces of liquid safely.
- Confirm hot-blending instructions. The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 is not a hot-blending model. The other three support hot-liquid use only with conditions and precautions.
- Verify the exact model number. In particular, distinguish Ninja BL610/BL611 from the Professional Plus BN701.
- Check what is included. The Chefman combo can include a travel jar and tamper; the BLACK+DECKER lists a personal jar; accessories may vary by configuration.
- Compare the current price immediately before checkout. A sale price can change, and a refurbished listing is not the same as a new unit.
Safety rules that apply to all four
- Do not blend boiling liquid unless the specific manufacturer instructions explicitly permit the temperature and procedure.
- Hot contents can create pressure and splatter. Use a vented lid or the prescribed lid configuration, keep the fill level within the manual’s limit, and protect your hands and face.
- Never assume that a glass jar is safe for boiling contents or that a plastic jar is safe for every hot recipe.
- Stop the blender before scraping, removing the lid, or handling a blade assembly.
- Use added liquid when the manufacturer requires it, especially for ice-crushing guidance on the nutribullet.
- Keep stacked or removable blades away from fingers during cleaning and storage.
Bottom line
The Chefman Obliterator is the best budget blender for most people because it covers the widest range of tasks with the fewest serious weaknesses. The BLACK+DECKER is the smarter cheap pick for noise-sensitive kitchens and glass-jar fans. The nutribullet Blender Combo is the soup specialist, while the Ninja Professional Blender 1000 is the frozen-drink specialist. None is universally best: choosing according to your hardest recipe will produce a better result than choosing by wattage or pitcher size alone.
