Food Network’s 2026 testing names the 12-quart Cuisinart Chef’s Classic Pasta/Steamer Set the best overall pasta pot. It handled large batches, drained cleanly and includes a steamer, although it is heavy when full. The All-Clad 6-Qt is the faster-heating runner-up for cooks making about one pound at a time; the Bialetti is the value choice; Rachael Ray’s oval pot is best for spaghetti; and Gotham Steel is the compact option for small batches.
How Food Network tested the pasta pots
Food Network Shopping Experts published the review “5 Best Pasta Pots of 2026, Tested and Reviewed” on February 5, 2026. Testers bought 10 well-reviewed models and recorded each empty pot’s size and weight, stovetop footprint, and compatibility with electric, gas and induction cooktops. They cooked one pound of dried pasta and eight ounces of fresh pasta in every pot, generally using four quarts of water and eight quarts in larger models.

Detailed picks
Cuisinart Chef’s Classic Pasta/Steamer Set: best overall
The 12-quart Cuisinart is the most versatile choice for families, entertaining and cooks who want one large vessel. Interior measurement marks help with water, the tapered rim reduces drips, and stay-cool handles make handling easier. The set includes both a pasta insert and an additional steamer, and the parts are dishwasher safe.
Its trade-off is physics: the large pot required eight quarts of water in testing and becomes substantial to lift or pour when full. Make sure you have enough cabinet space and a stable sink before choosing it.
All-Clad 6-Qt Pasta Pot: best runner-up
This stainless-steel model heated evenly, reached a boil quickly and works on induction cooktops. Its built-in colander avoids handling a separate insert. The compact, short round profile is less comfortable for a full pound of spaghetti than an oval or taller pot, and testers saw some water spill during draining.
Rank #2
- This multifunction cooker allows you to steam your favorite vegetables, cook pasta, and use it as a large stockpot. Encapsulated base provides faster and even heat distribution
- Constructed in 18/10 Stainless Steel and induction stovetop ready. Featured red colors
- Now features silicone covered handles and knob for easy grip and stability when transporting a stockpot filled with food
Bialetti Oval Pasta Pot with Strainer Lid: best value
At 5.5 quarts and 3.5 pounds empty, the Bialetti offers an inexpensive way to cook long noodles. Its oval aluminum body gives spaghetti and lasagna room to spread, while the locking strainer lid makes draining straightforward.
The nonstick pot must be hand-washed, is not oven safe and does not work on induction cooktops. Those restrictions matter more than the low price if your kitchen depends on induction or dishwasher cleaning.
Rachael Ray Nonstick Oval Pasta Pot: best for spaghetti
The 8-quart oval shape is designed for loading a pound of spaghetti without forcing long strands into a short round vessel. Testers found even heating, easy cleanup and a useful pouring lip. It is oven safe to 350°F.
Rank #3
- Stainless steel construction
- Easy-to-Use – Boil & Strain in One!
- Offers Convenience – Eliminates need for a colander
- Uniquely designed straining lid securely fastens
- Measurement markings in cups and liters
This is the most expensive listed option at approximately $170, and it is not induction compatible. Choose it for noodle shape and capacity rather than for maximum stovetop flexibility.

The compact Gotham Steel suits small kitchens and modest portions. Twist-and-lock handles secure the built-in strainer, and the locking drain design worked well in testing.
Fitting a full pound of spaghetti requires maneuvering, so it is better for smaller batches or shorter pasta than as a primary family-size spaghetti pot.

How to choose the right pasta pot
Match capacity to your usual batch
Food Network’s guidance is that one pound of pasta needs at least a five-quart pot. Six- and 5.5-quart models cover that baseline, while 8- and 12-quart pots provide more room for large households and entertaining. More capacity also means more water weight, harder lifting and greater storage demands.
Check your cooktop before buying
Induction compatibility is not automatic. The All-Clad is induction compatible; the Bialetti and Rachael Ray models are not. The testing team found that many pasta pots on the market failed this check, so confirm the manufacturer’s compatibility statement for your exact model before ordering.

- Removable insert: Cuisinart’s insert lifts the pasta out and the set also functions as a steamer.
- Built-in colander: All-Clad keeps the draining component with the pot but needs careful pouring.
- Locking lid: Bialetti and Gotham Steel let you drain without lifting a separate insert.
- Pouring lip: Rachael Ray helps direct water, but you still need a secure grip on a hot, full pot.
Whichever style you choose, consider how safely you can lift, tilt or carry the vessel after cooking.

- Chef's Choice Stainless: Mirror finish. Classic looks, professional performance
- Unsurpassed Heat Distribution: Aluminum encapsulated base heats quickly and spreads heat evenly;Eliminates hot spots
- Stainless steel cooking surface does not discolor, react with food or alter flavors;Great for classic cooking techniques like slow simmers, rolling boils and reduction of liquids
- Cool Grip Handle: Solid stainless steel riveted handle stays cool on the stovetop;A helper handle provides extra support and balance when lifting and pouring
- Drip-Free Pouring: Rim is tapered for drip-free pouring
Choose a shape that suits the pasta
Oval and tall pots generally distribute long noodles such as spaghetti and lasagna more naturally. Short, round pots can work well for smaller shapes such as orzo, but long strands may need to be folded or maneuvered while they soften.
Account for cleaning and oven use
Dishwasher, oven and hand-washing rules vary by model. Cuisinart’s parts are dishwasher safe; Bialetti is hand-wash only and not oven safe; Rachael Ray is oven safe to 350°F. Do not infer care instructions from the material alone—use the exact model’s manual.
Cooking with any of these pots
Food Network recommends salting the cooking water and tasting for al dente doneness. In its dried-spaghetti tests, 10 minutes was a useful starting point. Fresh pasta generally took one to three minutes, so begin tasting early and adjust for the shape and thickness of your noodles.
