TCL unveiled the Q9K Mini LED TV series in China on March 6, 2024, with launch prices starting at 4,199 yuan for the 55-inch model. That price was approximately $584 at the exchange rate used in contemporaneous coverage—not an official U.S. retail price. The five-size range claimed up to 2,400 nits of XDR peak brightness, as many as 1,536 local-dimming zones, and four HDMI 2.1 ports.
The Q9K went on sale in China at 8 p.m. on March 14, 2024. Because this is a historical China launch rather than a new 2026 announcement, shoppers should treat the original pricing as context, not as a current purchase price.

Q9K sizes, zone counts and launch prices
The 4,199-yuan headline applied specifically to the entry-level 55-inch Q9K with 720 local-dimming zones. TCL also offered 65-, 75-, 85- and 98-inch versions.
| Screen size | Local-dimming zones | Regular price | Launch price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 55 inches | 720 | 4,499 yuan | 4,199 yuan |
| 65 inches | 1,008 | 5,999 yuan | 5,499 yuan |
| 75 inches | 1,248 | 7,499 yuan | 6,999 yuan |
| 85 inches | 1,536 | 9,999 yuan | 8,999 yuan |
| 98 inches | 1,536 | 18,999 yuan | 17,999 yuan |
Prices and zone counts were reported by IT之家. Later Chinese e-commerce promotions reportedly reduced the 55-inch price to roughly 4,131–4,159 yuan, but those were time-limited March 2024 offers and should not be presented as current prices.

What TCL claimed about the display
The Q9K used a Mini LED backlight with TCL’s full-range halo-control technology and quantum-dot color positioning. Launch specifications cited an XDR peak brightness of 2,400 nits and a 24-million-to-one dynamic contrast ratio.
These figures are reported launch claims, not independent laboratory measurements. Peak brightness does not reveal the size or duration of the test window, sustained brightness, or performance in different picture modes. Likewise, dynamic contrast is processing-assisted and should not be compared directly with a panel’s native contrast measurement.
More dimming zones can help control blooming around subtitles and bright objects, but zone count alone does not determine picture quality. The panel’s native contrast, optical diffuser, dimming algorithm, tone mapping, viewing angle, uniformity and firmware also matter.

Processing, sound and connectivity
According to the launch report, the Q9K included TCL’s Lingyao M2 main processor and a separate TSR Mini LED image-enhancement chip. Other reported specifications included:
- 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage;
- Wi-Fi 6;
- a 90-watt, seven-speaker 2.1.2-channel audio system; and
- four HDMI 2.1 ports.
HDMI 2.1 labeling does not, by itself, confirm maximum bandwidth or every gaming feature. The available launch reports did not provide a complete port-by-port bandwidth table or establish support for 4K/120Hz, 4K/144Hz, every VRR format, or ALLM on every model.
How it compared with the Q10G Pro generation
Contemporaneous coverage positioned the Q9K as an upgrade over the Q10G Pro in areas including zone count, claimed brightness, halo control, color, audio and exterior design. The reported zone-count increases were:

- 55-inch: 480 to 720 zones;
- 65-inch: 576 to 1,008 zones;
- 75-inch: 720 to 1,248 zones; and
- 85- and 98-inch models: up to 1,536 zones.
Those numerical increases suggest a more finely divided backlight, but they do not prove a specific improvement in measured blooming, black levels or HDR accuracy without comparable testing. TCL’s official 55-inch Q10G page lists the older model with 240 zones, 1,200-nit peak brightness, 4K/120Hz support and 4GB/64GB memory; the differing figures should not be compared without confirming that TCL used the same definitions and model variants.
China launch, not confirmed global availability
The Q9K announcement and pricing covered the Chinese market. The reviewed sources did not confirm a U.S. release, U.S. MSRP, North American warranty, Google TV or Roku configuration, or international tuner compatibility. That is not proof the model was never sold elsewhere, but it does mean a China announcement should not be treated as evidence of worldwide availability.
Importing a Chinese-market television can involve Chinese-language firmware, regional streaming and DRM restrictions, different voice-assistant support, tuner or voltage considerations, limited warranty coverage, expensive shipping and difficult servicing. An 85- or 98-inch panel also requires careful checking of doorways, elevators, installation support, wall capacity and return arrangements.

- QD-MINI LED | BRIGHT WHERE IT SHOULD BE, DARK WHERE IT SHOULDN'T: Get the deep blacks and precise contrast shoppers expect from a premium display, plus the high brightness Mini LED is known for. Up to 500 local dimming zones with TCL Halo Control Technology precisely control the backlight to reduce unwanted blooming around bright objects. The result is bright highlights, deeper blacks and greater contrast, without the burn-in concern associated with premium displays
- NATIVE 144Hz | BUILT FOR GAMING + SPORTS: Looking for a gaming TV or a better TV for sports? Native 144Hz, Motion Rate 480, VRR, ALLM and Game Accelerator deliver smooth, responsive gameplay and clearer fast-moving action. Follow the ball, catch every play or jump into high-speed gaming with greater motion clarity and responsiveness
- ONKYO 2.1 + BUILT-IN SUBWOOFER | HOME THEATER SOUND: Turn your living room into a home theater with Onkyo 2.1 audio and a 20W subwoofer for deeper bass, clearer dialogue and fuller sound. Dolby Atmos and dedicated DTS add immersive audio for movies, gaming, sports and streaming. With powerful sound built right into the TV, adding a soundbar is optional
- BEZEL-LESS DESIGN | MORE SCREEN, LESS FRAME: Make your entertainment feel bigger. The thin, bezel-less design minimizes the frame around the picture for a more immersive big-screen experience. Whether you're watching movies, streaming shows, sports or gaming, more of what you see is the picture, not the frame
- 1.07 BILLION COLORS + AiPQ PRO | BETTER PICTURE FOR MOVIES + STREAMING: A bigger screen should make your entertainment better, not just bigger. Enhanced QLED Color delivers up to 1.07 billion colors with a wide color gamut, while TCL's AiPQ Pro Processor intelligently optimizes color, contrast and clarity for movies, streaming, sports and games
Should you buy a Q9K in 2026?
Only consider one if a reputable seller can confirm the exact model number, firmware and language options, supported apps, local voltage, HDMI capabilities, return policy, installation terms and panel warranty. Do not use the 4,199-yuan launch figure as evidence of a current bargain or pay a premium simply because it was the original entry price.
For a current purchase, compare the Q9K with newer officially supported TCL families listed in the TCL China television catalog. The catalog highlights newer QD-Mini LED families, although current prices were not reliably established in the reviewed material. The official T7G may interest gamers seeking documented 144Hz support, HDR 1000 and local support, but it is not a direct Mini LED equivalent. The 98X9C Pro is a much larger, higher-tier option rather than a budget substitute.
In short, the Q9K was a substantial 2024 China-market Mini LED launch on paper, but its headline specifications remain manufacturer or launch-report claims, and its original price is no longer a verified current retail reference.
