The global product information describes a curated artwork gallery, personal-photo uploads and an AI Art feature. Artwork availability may vary by market and licensing arrangements. TCL’s global A400 Pro page also warns that regional configurations are not identical.
Key specifications vary by region

These figures should not be combined into one universal specification sheet. The 32-inch model, for example, should not automatically be assumed to use the same panel, dimming hardware or gaming features as the larger versions. Buyers should check the exact model code and regional technical sheet.
Why QD-Mini LED matters in an art TV
QD-Mini LED combines three display concepts:
- Quantum dots: a color-enhancing layer intended to improve saturation and color volume.
- Mini LED: many small LEDs behind an LCD panel, allowing local dimming across multiple zones.
- HVA: TCL’s high-contrast LCD panel technology; the German version is specified with a matte surface.
The result remains an LCD television, not an OLED. Mini LED can deliver high brightness and strong HDR impact, but its backlight is not controlled at the individual-pixel level. Depending on the panel, dimming algorithm and viewing conditions, bright objects against dark backgrounds may still produce blooming or haloing.
This hardware is the A400 Pro’s most important distinction from basic art TVs. A television that looks like artwork when idle can still be built for movies, sports and games. Nevertheless, TCL’s specifications do not replace independent measurements of black levels, blooming, color accuracy, input lag or matte-screen performance.
Matte screen: useful for artwork, but not cost-free
The matte finish is intended to reduce visible reflections and help the display resemble artwork in a bright room. TCL also describes a brightness sensor and ambient-light management features for changing room conditions.

- TCL AIPQ Pro Processor: Powerful, advanced processor that intelligently optimizes the color, contrast, and clarity for an unrivaled 4K HDR experience
- Dolby Atmos Audio: Advanced spatial audio processing can be found in movies, TV shows, and video games
Matte coatings do not eliminate reflections; they diffuse them. They can also soften perceived sharpness, reduce the intensity of some highlights and reveal a fine surface texture from close viewing distances. In a dark room, movie quality will depend more heavily on panel contrast, local dimming and calibration than on the art coating itself.
For a living room with windows, lamps or overhead lighting, the finish may be a practical advantage. For a dedicated dark home theater, a glossy display may deliver a cleaner-looking image.

The A400 Pro supports 4K resolution and a native refresh rate of up to 144Hz in applicable configurations. That is primarily useful for compatible gaming PCs capable of producing high frame rates at 4K. It can also make supported desktop use and high-frame-rate content appear smoother.
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X generally do not output 4K at 144Hz, so console owners should not assume the headline refresh rate will provide that experience. The practical benefits depend on the exact model’s HDMI bandwidth, VRR support, game mode, input-lag behavior and resolution limits.
TCL and regional materials also reference a mode reaching up to 288Hz using DLG technology. That is a separate operating mode and should not be described as native 4K/288Hz. Buyers should verify the resolution supported in DLG mode before treating it as a gaming specification.

- Google TV Smart OS: The entertainment you love. Google TV brings your favorite movies, shows, and live shows together.
- Auto Game Mode (ALLM): Automatically enables game mode for the lowest possible input lag and latency for an unmatched gaming performance.
AI Art and gallery features
TCL promotes AI Art alongside curated artwork and personal-photo display. The important qualification is that TCL’s global information describes the images as generated in advance by AI technology, rather than created locally in real time as the viewer watches.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe likely workflow is to open the gallery or AI Art feature, select an available generation or style option, provide a prompt where supported, and save the resulting image to the television’s gallery. Menu names and controls are software- and region-dependent, so they should not be assumed to be identical across imported models.
AI Art should not automatically be treated as museum-quality artwork, commercially licensed imagery or unrestricted imitation of a particular artist’s style. The sources also do not establish universal rules for subscriptions, cloud storage, image limits, file sizes, offline display or phone-app requirements. Those details should be checked in the local user manual and service terms.
TCL says users can upload phone photos for display. Buyers should confirm whether the feature requires a TCL account or app, whether images are stored in the cloud, how images are cropped and whether they remain available offline.
German prices and availability
TCL announced the A400 range for Germany on July 14, 2026. The following are German recommended retail prices, not global prices:

| Screen size | German recommended retail price |
|---|---|
| 32-inch | €699 |
| 43-inch | €899 |
| 55-inch | €999 |
| 65-inch | €1,299 |
| 75-inch | €1,499 |
| 85-inch | €1,999 |
| 98-inch | €2,799 |
TCL said the German models would be sold through selected retail partners, including Euronics. A separate Chinese report listed a China-market starting price of 7,999 yuan. That figure should not be converted directly into an expected U.S. price because taxes, distribution, specifications and warranty coverage differ.
U.S. availability: No verified U.S. launch date, U.S. MSRP or U.S. retail availability was found in the available source material. Importing a European or Chinese model may create problems with tuners, voltage, apps, voice services, AI functions, warranty support and returns.
Installation matters as much as the screen
An art TV is judged partly by how convincingly it sits on the wall. Before buying, check:
- Whether the exact model uses VESA mounting or a proprietary bracket.
- Whether the required mount is included in that region and size.
- The wall’s strength and flatness.
- Rear ventilation clearance.
- How cables will be routed or concealed.
- Whether the bezel or frame is included or sold separately.
- The television’s weight and handling requirements, especially at 85 and 98 inches.
TCL notes that the final appearance can vary with the installation method and wall condition. The A400 Pro should also be distinguished from TCL’s separate A400U Premium Wallpaper model, which emphasizes a slimmer, more wallpaper-like installation rather than the Pro’s art-frame presentation.

| Consideration | TCL A400 Pro | Samsung The Frame Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Picture hardware | QD-Mini LED LCD; up to 144Hz in applicable models | Neo QLED lifestyle TV with Art Mode |
| Screen treatment | Matte HVA in the German model | Glare Free technology |
| Artwork | Curated gallery, personal photos and AI Art | More established Art Mode ecosystem |
| Connectivity | Regional mounting and cable arrangements vary | 2026 Pro model includes Wireless One Connect |
| Best argument | Stronger gaming and HDR potential on paper | More mature art-TV platform and ecosystem |
Samsung’s 2026 The Frame Pro information lists Art Mode, Glare Free technology, Neo QLED and Wireless One Connect. Samsung may be preferable for buyers who value a large, established art catalog and a familiar lifestyle-TV ecosystem. TCL may be more attractive to buyers who prioritize QD-Mini LED hardware, 144Hz PC gaming and potentially lower regional pricing.
The comparison is not a laboratory verdict. Independent testing would be needed to determine which model has better black uniformity, blooming control, accuracy, input lag or real-world reflection handling.
Who should consider the A400 Pro?
- Design-conscious buyers: It can make a wall-mounted television look more decorative when idle.
- Bright-room viewers: The matte surface may reduce distracting reflections, though it will not remove them.
- PC gamers: Up to 4K/144Hz is relevant when the computer, HDMI connection and game support all match.
- Home-entertainment buyers: QD-Mini LED offers a more serious picture platform than many basic art displays.
Who should choose something else?
- Buyers seeking OLED-style pixel-level blacks and no blooming.
- Competitive console gamers expecting 4K/144Hz from a PlayStation or Xbox.
- U.S. shoppers who need immediate local stock, support and warranty coverage.
- Viewers who want a large, mature art catalog above all else.
- Buyers who require an ultra-thin, flush “wallpaper” installation.
- Movie enthusiasts seeking reference-grade accuracy without independent test results.
Verdict
The TCL A400 Pro is significant because it attempts to combine a genuine art-TV presentation with higher-performance QD-Mini LED hardware. Its 4K resolution, up-to-144Hz refresh rate, matte HVA surface and AI-art features give it a broader ambition than a television designed mainly to imitate a framed picture.
