SwitchBot unveiled the onero H1 at CES 2026 as a general-purpose household robot designed to handle tasks such as laundry, dishwashing and tidying. It has articulated arms and a humanoid-style upper body, but it travels on wheels rather than walking legs. SwitchBot’s official international page lists it at US$9,999; as of August 16, 2026, the robot was still marked “Coming Soon” and unavailable to buy.
The distinction matters: a live CES demonstration showed H1 loading individual garments into a washing machine, while more ambitious capabilities—including folding clothes, washing windows, serving food and handling dishes—remain company demonstrations or claims rather than independently verified everyday performance.

SwitchBot describes onero H1 as its first “universal humanoid household robot,” part of the company’s broader Smart Home 2.0 strategy. Rather than replacing every existing appliance, H1 is intended to add physical manipulation to SwitchBot’s ecosystem of specialized smart-home and cleaning products.
The official Onero H1 product page says the robot uses SwitchBot’s OmniSense VLA system. VLA, or vision-language-action, technology connects what a robot sees and what a person asks it to do with physical movements. SwitchBot says OmniSense combines vision, depth, touch and language inputs to support household tasks and optimize movement in real time.

Among them, the zigzag path can cover the largest area for cleaning, reduce missed scanning, and increase efficiency by 30%.
Those are manufacturer descriptions, not independent performance benchmarks. The available product information does not establish the robot’s battery life, payload, operating speed, dimensions, safety certifications, maintenance schedule or precise connectivity requirements.
It is humanoid-style, not a walking android
Onero H1 has a head-like sensor area, articulated arms and human-inspired hand options, but its lower body is a wheeled platform. It is more accurately described as a wheeled humanoid-style household robot than a bipedal humanoid or android.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Wheels bring practical advantages. They can provide a more stable base for arm movements and are mechanically simpler than walking legs. A wheeled platform may also be better suited to carrying objects across flat floors. The trade-off is mobility: stairs, split-level homes, high thresholds, thick rugs, clutter, narrow passages and low furniture could all limit where H1 can work. Unless a separate solution is provided, the robot would need to be carried or assisted between floors.
What the CES demonstration actually showed
The clearest independent evidence comes from Engadget’s CES report. In a live demonstration, H1:
- Picked up individual clothing items from a couch.
- Drove a short distance to a washing machine.
- Opened the washer door.
- Placed the clothing inside.
- Closed the door.
The process took nearly two minutes for one garment located only a few feet away. That is useful evidence of object handling and appliance interaction, but it is not the same as proving that H1 can independently manage a full laundry cycle.
Laundry is particularly difficult for robots because clothing is flexible, deformable and often tangled. A practical laundry assistant would need to identify colors and fabrics, separate delicate items, check pockets, handle different baskets and cope with garments that do not present themselves neatly. The demonstration supports single-item loading; it does not establish reliable laundry sorting, folding or complete unattended laundry management.

What SwitchBot says it can do
SwitchBot’s promotional material shows or suggests a much wider range of activities, including:
Rank #2
- Serving food and drinks.
- Filling or using a coffee machine.
- Making breakfast.
- Washing windows.
- Folding clothes.
- Washing or putting away dishes.
- Organizing objects and tidying surfaces.
These should be treated as SwitchBot demonstrations or intended capabilities, not independently validated results. The available evidence does not show that H1 can safely cook without supervision, work with hot pans or knives, wash fragile glassware, or reliably perform arbitrary chores in an ordinary home.
Hand options and hardware questions
Engadget reported that the CES demonstration used a claw-like hand, while SwitchBot’s promotional material showed a five-finger articulated hand. A SwitchBot representative said the company planned to offer both versions.
Important purchasing details remain unclear:
- Which hand configuration comes with the US$9,999 listing.
- Whether users can swap the hands themselves.
- Whether each hand supports different tasks or software.
- Whether the five-finger hand costs extra.
- Whether replacement hands and other parts will be available.
- How repairs and servicing will work.
How H1 may fit into a SwitchBot home
SwitchBot presents H1 as working alongside specialized robots rather than doing everything itself. The company’s description suggests that an existing robot vacuum handles the floor while H1 handles tasks above floor level, such as moving objects or loading appliances.

That creates three distinct possibilities:
- Direct chores: H1 uses its arms to pick up and manipulate objects.
- Delegated chores: A specialized SwitchBot device performs a task such as vacuuming or mopping.
- Smart-home coordination: H1 may eventually coordinate appliances, sensors or other devices, but the available product page does not document the extent of those integrations.
There is not enough official information to claim H1 compatibility with Matter, Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home or particular appliances. Its ability to open a washing machine, cabinet or appliance in a real home may depend on handles, clearances, controls and layout.
The practical limitations buyers should consider
Speed and supervision
Nearly two minutes for one garment is a meaningful reality check. H1 might still be useful as a background worker if it can operate reliably while nobody is watching, but the economics depend on failure frequency. A robot that repeatedly drops objects, loses its route or needs a person to reset it may save less time than its demonstrations suggest.
Before treating it as an autonomous assistant, buyers would need answers to questions such as:
- Can it detect and recover from a dropped item?
- Can a user intervene remotely?
- What happens when its route is blocked?
- Does it require a clear, standardized room layout?
- Can it recognize that an appliance failed to open or close?
- Can it work overnight without supervision?
Safety
The available material does not document force limits, emergency-stop controls, collision detection or safe behavior around children, pets, stairs, hot surfaces, sharp tools and fragile objects. It also does not establish whether the arms lock during charging or how the robot responds after a failed manipulation.
Rank #3
- [DURABLE MATERIAL] Made of high quality non-woven fabric for long service life.
- [EFFICIENT PERFORMANCE] Provides strong disinfection and high water absorption.
- [PRECISE FIT] Designed to perfectly fit the M6 robot cleaner for easy replacement.
- [SAVE TIME] Reduce cleaning efforts and have more quality time with loved ones.
- [ENJOY LEISURE] Say goodbye to dusty floors and unwind in a clean environment.
Accordingly, H1 should not be regarded as safe for unsupervised operation around children, pets or cooking equipment until SwitchBot publishes detailed safety information and the product has been tested in ordinary homes.
Privacy
SwitchBot and Engadget describe on-device AI and RealSense cameras alongside other sensors. Local processing may reduce reliance on cloud services, but it does not prove that all perception happens locally or that no household data leaves the robot. The available information does not clarify whether an account is required, whether video or sensor logs are uploaded, how updates work, or whether users can delete stored data.

The strongest current price signal is the official international listing: US$9,999. However, the page does not establish whether that is a final retail price, a region-specific figure, an introductory price or a preorder-related amount. Taxes, shipping, installation, training, maintenance, replacement hands and service costs are not clearly specified.
At CES, a SwitchBot representative told Engadget that H1 would cost less than $10,000 and could become available toward the end of 2026. That was an earlier company statement, not a guaranteed delivery commitment. As of August 16, 2026, the official page still displayed “Coming Soon” and “Notify me when available,” with no confirmed shipping date, customer reviews or detailed product specification sheet.

Who should—and should not—consider it
H1 may interest wealthy early adopters, robotics researchers, demonstration spaces, hospitality businesses and people exploring assistive technology. For anyone in those groups, the key issues are confirmed support, installation, accessibility, safety and reliability—not merely the number of chores shown in a video.
It is a poor fit for buyers who need immediate delivery, fast laundry handling, stair navigation, proven autonomous cooking, extensive reviews or a low-maintenance replacement for a cleaner or caregiver. Nearly $10,000 is also a substantial risk for a product whose final configuration and support model remain unclear.
More practical alternatives
| Need | More focused option | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Vacuuming floors | SwitchBot K11+ | Much narrower than H1, but the US store lists it at $399.99 with LiDAR navigation, obstacle avoidance and a self-emptying base. |
| Vacuuming and mopping | SwitchBot S10 | Designed for floor cleaning rather than object manipulation. |
| Pressing a physical button | SwitchBot Bot | Useful for one known switch or control, but not a mobile household assistant. |
| Smart-home coordination | SwitchBot Hub 3 | Can coordinate compatible smart-home functions but cannot perform physical chores. |
| Fixed-position manipulation | Onero Robotic Arm A1 | Closer to a controlled robotic work area; it cannot navigate around a home. |
For practical automation today, a specialized device is usually easier to evaluate than a general-purpose robot. H1’s appeal is its potential breadth, but that breadth also creates more opportunities for failure.
