What comes with SURI 2.0?
The standard SURI 2.0 listing specifies the toothbrush, one plant-based brush head, a wireless charging stand, a magnetic mirror mount, and a plant-based brush cap. The UV-C travel case is associated with the brush-and-case bundle rather than necessarily being included in the brush-only price.
The aluminum handle is slim and visually distinctive. The magnetic mount is useful for keeping the brush off a wet counter, although adhesion will depend on the wall or mirror surface. The brush is rated IPX7, which supports normal rinsing and temporary immersion under the rating’s test conditions. It does not guarantee permanent water resistance after drops, seal damage, aging, or unauthorized disassembly.
Cleaning performance
SURI 2.0 uses a sonic motor rated at 33,000 vibrations per minute. It has two modes—clean and polish—and a two-minute quadrant timer. The timer is useful because it divides brushing into four 30-second sections, helping users spend reasonable time on each part of the mouth.

Independent coverage from Live Science, The Independent, and other reviewers generally describes SURI as effective, quiet, compact, and pleasant to use. Its vibration feels less mechanically forceful than an oscillating-rotating Oral-B brush, which some users will find gentler and others may interpret as less powerful.
SURI 2.0’s Touchsense pressure sensor provides haptic feedback when you press too hard. That is a useful technique reminder, but it does not guarantee protection from gum recession or enamel wear. Brushing force, technique, brushing time, bristle condition, and individual dental health still matter. SURI 1.0 does not include this sensor.
SURI’s product pages use claims including “100% more plaque,” “3x more plaque,” and “4x healthier gums,” depending on the page and product version. These are SURI’s own clinical-test claims, not a universal guarantee or proof that SURI cleans twice as well as every competing electric toothbrush. The official material refers to a 30-day randomized, controlled, examiner-blind trial at Salus Research, but readers should check the underlying study for its comparator, sample size, outcomes, and funding before treating the figures as broadly applicable.

Is SURI genuinely sustainable?
SURI has a more explicit sustainability strategy than many electric toothbrush brands, but “sustainable” is not a single measurable feature. The environmental case depends on materials, service life, replacement behavior, transport, electronics, and whether used heads are actually returned.

SURI says the head uses cornstarch-based material and bristles derived from castor oil. That makes the components plant-based, but it does not mean the entire head is home-compostable or biodegradable in ordinary conditions. A head also contains bristles, metal components, adhesives, and other materials.
Current US guidance emphasizes SURI’s own return route. Do not put a used head in household compost or assume it belongs in ordinary municipal recycling unless local instructions explicitly accept its components. SURI’s older material describes specific composting steps, while current US pages focus on manufacturer recycling.
Head take-back
SURI says it provides a prepaid mailer for used heads in the US and UK and takes responsibility for recycling returned heads. Its US replacement-head page says a freepost fallback is available if the bag is lost. The company has also said returned heads may be recycled up to six times or upcycled into other products.
This is a meaningful differentiator, but it is not the same as saying every head is recycled everywhere. Confirm availability if you live outside the US or UK, and check whether heads bought through another retailer are eligible. The benefit is also reduced if you discard the heads instead of using the return system. Shipping replacement heads and mailing used ones have environmental costs too.
Aluminum handle and repairability
SURI describes the handle as aluminum and says its components are designed to be recovered, recycled, or reused. That is not evidence that the battery is user-replaceable or that every failed unit will be repaired. Before buying for long-term ownership, check current warranty and support terms for battery degradation, charging faults, repair fees, replacement units, and end-of-life disposal.

User reports include both positive experiences and complaints about charging failures and replacement outcomes. These are anecdotal failure-mode signals, not evidence of a measured defect rate.
The UV-C case
The optional or bundled travel case combines storage and charging with a UV-C light. SURI pages claim that it kills 99.9% or 99.99% of bacteria, depending on the page. That is a test claim, not proof that the brush becomes sterile. Results depend on exposure, positioning, cleanliness, and the organisms tested.
For travelers, the case’s strongest benefits are compact storage, USB-C charging, and protecting the brush in luggage. Home-only users may gain little from it, and the case adds electronics, battery materials, cost, and eventual e-waste. Rinsing the head and allowing it to air-dry may be sufficient for many users.
The most sustainable option may be keeping your current brush
If your existing toothbrush works well, replacing it immediately creates a new environmental cost: manufacturing a rechargeable device, shipping it, and eventually disposing of its battery and electronics. SURI is most defensible as a replacement when an existing brush has failed or when its heads and support are no longer practical—not as an automatic upgrade for every working handle.
Battery life and charging
SURI’s battery claims vary by model and page. SURI 1.0 is advertised at roughly 40-plus days, while SURI 2.0 is described as lasting four-plus weeks or one month-plus. T3 reported approximately four weeks for Core 1.0.
Independent coverage supports the general impression of long battery life, although Live Science reported roughly a four-to-five-hour charging period during testing. Actual runtime depends on sessions per day, selected mode, battery age, and whether the travel case is being charged. Do not assume the battery can be replaced by the owner.

SURI 2.0 uses a wireless charging stand; SURI 1.0 uses pin charging. That makes the 2.0 more convenient and reduces exposed charging contacts, but it does not by itself establish a longer service life.

Replacement-head cost
The current US replacement-head page lists a three-pack at $18.99 for a one-time purchase. It displays subscription pricing of $11.98 compared with $13.31, marked as 10% off. The heads are listed as compatible with SURI 1.0 and 2.0.
- One-time price: approximately $6.33 per head.
- Displayed subscription price: approximately $5.99 per head.
- At one head every three months: roughly $24–$25 per year, before tax, shipping, and price changes.
- At one head every two months: roughly $36–$38 per year, before tax, shipping, and price changes.
SURI recommends changing heads every three months, while its FAQ allows a two-to-three-month range. The subscription is optional; it should not be treated as part of the brush’s mandatory purchase price. Its drawback is that replacement heads are less likely to be available immediately from local stores than Oral-B or Philips heads.
Over three years, head costs alone could therefore be approximately $72–$114 at the displayed one-time price, before taxes, shipping, discounts, or changes. That makes head availability and subscription preferences important parts of the ownership decision.
SURI versus mainstream alternatives

- Limited head choice: The medium-soft head may feel too firm for some people with sensitive teeth, and there are fewer head styles than in established ecosystems.
- Two modes only: Buyers wanting dedicated sensitive, gum-care, deep-clean, tongue-cleaning, or whitening programs may find SURI basic.
- Dynamic pricing and stock: Official pages have shown different prices, promotions, bundles, and out-of-stock notices. Treat any price as time- and region-specific.
- Recycling depends on participation: The sustainability benefit is much smaller if used heads enter general waste.
- Battery uncertainty: Long runtime is attractive, but battery replacement and long-term repair arrangements need to be confirmed in the current warranty documentation.
- Travel case trade-off: The UV-C case is useful for frequent travelers but may add unnecessary electronics for home users.
- Support experiences vary: Online complaints about charging or replacement should be considered, but they cannot establish a failure rate.
Which SURI should you buy?
Buy SURI 2.0 if…
You want the pressure sensor, wireless charging, flagship design, and long battery life, and you are willing to pay a premium for a quiet brush with a manufacturer-backed head-return program. Choose the case bundle only if you travel often or genuinely value integrated storage and charging.

Choose SURI 1.0 if…
You find it at a substantial discount and do not need pressure feedback or wireless charging. It preserves the core sonic, aluminum, long-battery-life, and plant-based-head concept, but it is the older design.
Consider Core 1.0 if…
You want a cheaper SURI and a pressure sensor matters. Because its reported launch is recent, verify the official US price, accessories, charging method, and stock before relying on comparisons.
Choose Oral-B or Philips instead if…
You need locally available replacement heads, a broader range of specialized heads, more modes, app coaching, a clearer long-term support path, or a different brushing mechanism.
Keep your existing brush if…
It still works effectively, its battery is healthy, and replacement heads remain available. Replacing a functioning device is difficult to justify on sustainability grounds alone.
Final recommendation
SURI 2.0 is a good fit for the buyer who wants a quiet, stylish, travel-friendly sonic toothbrush and will actively use SURI’s head-recycling program. Its sustainability story is more concrete than a generic “eco” label because it covers plant-based head materials, an aluminum handle, and manufacturer-operated take-back in supported countries.
It is not proof that SURI has the lowest total environmental impact, and it is not the strongest choice for everyone. The premium price, proprietary heads, limited modes, uncertain battery-repair path, and dependence on mail-back recycling matter. Buy SURI 2.0 for its combination of design, comfort, battery life, and recovery program—not because the marketing claims establish universal cleaning or environmental superiority.
