The safest way to wall-mount a Samsung soundbar is to start with the exact model manual, assess the wall, plan every cable, and use the supplied guide and brackets. Samsung’s general guidance places a wall-mounted soundbar at least 2 inches (5 cm) below a wall-mounted TV, but bracket design, screw requirements, clearances, and mounting-hole spacing vary by model and region. Verify your model before drilling.
Before You Start: Confirm the Exact Samsung Model
Many Samsung soundbars support wall mounting, but they are not interchangeable. Find the complete model number—usually an HW- designation—on the rear label, packaging, receipt, or connected-device information. Examples include HW-Q990F and HW-Q600F.

What You’ll Need
- The exact Samsung user manual and supplied Wall Mount Guide.
- The correct left and right Samsung wall brackets.
- The screws intended to attach the brackets to the soundbar.
- A stud finder, tape measure, pencil, painter’s tape, and a level.
- A drill and bits suitable for the wall material.
- Wall anchors and support screws rated for the soundbar and the actual wall construction.
- A screwdriver or drill-driver.
- Low-profile cable clips, a raceway, or another suitable cable-management system.
- Eye protection and, ideally, a second person to help lift and hang the soundbar.
Samsung’s general Australian installation guide mentions M5 wall-mount screws and recommends 35 mm or longer. That is a regional general recommendation, not a universal specification. The correct length must account for the bracket, wall surface, anchor or stud engagement, and any gap behind the bracket. Samsung’s general guide also says its wall support screws are not supplied. Check your exact package and manual before buying fasteners.
Do not substitute drywall screws, random TV-mount bolts, oversized anchors, or screws long enough to contact internal components.
Choose the Mounting Position
Position the soundbar:
- Centered horizontally with the TV.
- Directly below the screen.
- At least 5 cm (2 inches) below a wall-mounted TV, unless the exact manual requires a different arrangement.
- Clear of the TV’s infrared receiver, if present.
- Clear of the soundbar’s front, side, and upward-firing speaker openings.
- Far enough from the wall for plugs and cables to bend without strain.
Measure from the TV’s actual center rather than the center of a wall niche or furniture. If the soundbar has Dolby Atmos or other upward-firing speakers, do not enclose it beneath a shelf or place an obstruction directly above it. Samsung’s 5-cm recommendation is a baseline for a soundbar below a wall-mounted TV—not a universal acoustic optimum for every room or model.
Check the Wall and Choose the Fastener

Samsung advises installing on a vertical wall that can support the product and using fixings appropriate to the wall material. Inspect for electrical cables, plumbing, TV-mount hardware, outlets, and other concealed services. If the structure, wiring, plumbing, or fastening method is uncertain, use a qualified installer rather than guessing.
Step-by-Step Samsung Soundbar Wall-Mount Installation
1. Power down and unplug the equipment
Turn off the TV and soundbar. Unplug the soundbar before installation. Keep the unit on a protected surface while preparing the wall.
2. Plan and test-fit the cables
Plan the HDMI eARC/ARC cable, optical cable if required, power cable, and any model-specific connections before drilling. Samsung’s general guidance recommends connecting cables before placing the soundbar on the wall.

HDMI eARC/ARC is generally the preferred connection when both devices support it, but port labels, HDMI-CEC behavior, and settings vary by TV and soundbar. Leave enough slack to remove the soundbar later. Consider right-angle connectors, a recessed wall box, or a raceway where rear clearance is limited.

Use a stud finder and confirm likely stud positions as appropriate. Check that the proposed holes will not intersect electrical wiring or plumbing, overlap the TV mount, or interfere with an outlet or cable channel. Confirm the wall is sound and reasonably vertical.
4. Position the Samsung Wall Mount Guide
Place the model-specific paper guide against the wall. Align its center line with the TV’s actual center, or center it on the intended soundbar position if no TV is installed. Hold a level against the guide and secure it temporarily with painter’s tape.
Check the guide twice before marking. If the manual and paper guide conflict, stop and resolve the discrepancy using Samsung support for the exact model.
5. Mark the mounting holes
Through the center of each end’s A-TYPE mark, make a small, precise pencil mark. Label the left and right positions, then remove the guide. Before drilling, compare the marked spacing with the actual Samsung brackets.

6. Drill and install the correct anchors

- For a stud, drill the pilot hole specified for the screw and stud material, if required.
- For drywall, follow the anchor manufacturer’s specified bit size and installation method.
- For masonry, use a masonry bit and compatible masonry anchor system.
- For metal studs, use a structure-appropriate fastening method.
Remove drilling dust when the anchor instructions require it. Never force an oversized anchor into an undersized hole or rely on a nominal load rating without considering wall condition and installation quality.
7. Install the wall support screws
Place each support screw through its Samsung holder or wall-fixing component, if supplied, and fasten it into the prepared stud or anchor. Follow the fastener manufacturer’s instructions. Do not over-tighten into drywall.
Leave only the screw-head clearance or standoff required for the brackets to hang securely; do not assume a universal protrusion measurement. Confirm both support screws are at the same height and recheck them with a level.

Attach the two supplied Samsung wall-mount brackets to the bottom of the soundbar using the specified screws. Align the soundbar’s locating bumps with the bracket holes. The hanger portion should sit behind the soundbar as shown in the model manual.
Check that the brackets face the correct direction, every screw is engaged, and no bracket covers a vent, port, reset button, or speaker opening. Tighten firmly without stripping the screws.
9. Hang and seat the soundbar
With a second person supporting long or heavy models, place the attached brackets over the wall screws. Slide the soundbar downward until both brackets are fully seated. Samsung’s general removal and installation guidance uses this hang-and-slide arrangement, but the exact geometry remains model-specific.

10. Check the physical installation
Confirm that:
- Both brackets are seated on the support screws.
- The soundbar is level and does not touch the TV or furniture.
- The wall screws remain tight.
- No cable is supporting or pulling on the soundbar.
- The grille, display, controls, microphones, and speaker openings are unobstructed.
Gently check for movement without hanging on the unit or pulling it forward aggressively. If it feels loose, remove it and correct the mounting system before use.

- Connect HDMI eARC/ARC, optical, or the model-recommended cable.
- Connect power and turn on the TV and soundbar.
- Select the correct TV audio output.
- Confirm sound comes from the soundbar.
- Test volume control from the TV remote.
- Test the subwoofer and rear speakers, if included.
- Listen for rattles, vibration, dropouts, or muffled sound.
Menu names vary by TV model, region, and software version, so follow the TV and soundbar manuals rather than relying on one universal menu path. Use the exact Samsung support page for model-specific firmware instructions.
How to Mount Without Studs
Drywall anchors can work when studs do not align, but only if the anchor is rated for the soundbar’s weight, the drywall thickness, and the projecting load created by the unit. Ratings assume correct installation and sound material; they are not automatically transferable to damaged or unusually loaded walls.
If the desired position misses studs and the drywall is questionable, install suitable reinforcement or move the soundbar. For heavy premium systems, masonry, metal-stud walls, concealed wiring, or unusual surfaces, professional installation is the safer choice.

Route cables behind or beside the soundbar without crossing the grille or pressing sharply against the wall. Use low-profile clips or a raceway, and provide strain relief so children or pets cannot tug the cables. Samsung warns that pulling on connecting cables can cause the soundbar to fall.
If a connector will not fit after mounting, do not force it. Safely remove the soundbar and use a compatible right-angle cable, a longer cable with a service loop, a recessed cable box, or a surface raceway.

How to Remove the Soundbar Safely
Unplug the power and have a second person support the unit. Remove or slacken cables so they cannot catch. Following Samsung’s general method, push the soundbar in the indicated direction, tilt it slightly upward, and pull it away from the wall. The exact direction depends on the bracket design.
Do not hang on the soundbar, strike it, or force it if the brackets are stuck. Inspect the bracket geometry and consult the model manual.
Wall Mounting or Tabletop Placement?
Wall mounting gives a cleaner appearance, frees cabinet space, and aligns naturally with a wall-mounted TV. It also makes servicing and cable replacement harder, can transmit vibration through a hollow wall, and may complicate access to controls and ports.
Tabletop placement is easier to reposition and service and avoids wall damage. It may, however, obstruct the TV’s lower edge or infrared receiver and consume furniture space. Choose tabletop placement if the wall cannot be safely assessed or the soundbar’s clearances cannot be maintained.
A universal TV-mounted soundbar bracket is a separate solution: it transfers the load to the TV-mount system rather than the wall. Check the soundbar’s weight, mounting points, ports, speaker orientation, TV weight rating, VESA arrangement, and swivel-arm balance before using one.
