Stone Offroad Design, or SOD, is a German custom vehicle manufacturer based in Pullach, Bavaria. Its business is not limited to conventional recreational vehicles: the company converts preconfigured production vehicles into expedition vehicles, motorhomes, mobile homes, and mobile offices. Those numbers explain why the Peak feels closer to a specialized work truck than a conventional Class C or Class A motorhome. The Mercedes version alone produces 578 PS and 2,800 Nm from a 15.6-liter diesel. That does not establish a particular fuel economy figure, climbing ability, or off-road performance result—the available material contains no independent road test—but it does show the scale of the underlying platform.
The living module is engineered for chassis movement
SOD lists the motorhome box at approximately 6,500 mm long, 2,400–2,550 mm wide, and about 2,300 mm high internally. Its walls use fiberglass-reinforced-plastic sandwich construction with foam insulation, with a listed wall thickness of 60–80 mm and additional internal reinforcement where necessary.
The more significant engineering detail is underneath the box. SOD mounts the living module to a specially adapted, fully hot-dip-galvanized subframe using a double three-point mounting arrangement. Longitudinal and transverse members support the structure, while external crossmembers are prepared for later component installation.
That arrangement matters on a three-axle off-road truck. A conventional recreational-vehicle body rigidly attached to a heavy chassis would be exposed to substantial twisting as the axles move over uneven ground. A mounting system designed to accommodate chassis flex helps separate the living module from that movement. It is one reason the Peak should be understood as a purpose-built expedition vehicle rather than simply a luxury box body placed on a truck frame.

The hydraulic leveling system is particularly relevant to everyday use. It is intended to make setting up a large truck easier and more precise than relying on separate portable blocks. That also means generic RV leveling blocks are a weak accessory fit for this vehicle: the Peak already has an integrated support and leveling system, and the correct setup procedure should come from SOD.
A remotely controlled recovery winch, front LED light bar, dimmable area lighting, and a rear platform add to the expedition brief. The platform can carry recreational equipment, although the available specifications do not establish a particular payload, loading limit, or approved equipment list.
Inside: compact luxury rather than bare-bones overlanding
The interior follows a compact residential floor plan. Near the entrance is a kitchen, with a dinette positioned across the aisle. A refrigerator/freezer and dishware storage sit behind the dining area. Toward the rear, the raised double bed occupies the bedroom zone.
The bathroom uses a longitudinal shower-and-toilet compartment, with a separate sink and vanity opposite it. This arrangement uses the narrow box efficiently while preserving distinct cooking, dining, washing, and sleeping areas.
The visual treatment is deliberately softer than the truck underneath. Neutral upholstery, visible wood grain, and warm cabinetry create a rustic-modern atmosphere. The point is not to hide the Peak’s industrial foundation; it is to make that foundation feel surprisingly remote from the living room.
SOD’s equipment list also describes a high level of cab finishing, including:

- Leather and Alcantara trim.
- Dedicated sound equipment.
- A dimmable starry-sky headliner with color changer.
- An additional television.
- Coded central locking for the entry and storage doors.
- A vault-like pass-through door between the cab and living area.
That pass-through is more than a novelty. It lets occupants move between the cab and living module without immediately stepping outside, while coded locking and lockable exterior hatches support the security requirements of an expensive expedition vehicle. The original coverage used humorous zombie-survival imagery around these features; the practical point is simpler: SOD has treated secure access and storage as part of the design rather than as aftermarket additions.

How autonomous is the Peak 6×6?
It is tempting to describe a truck of this size as capable of weeks away from civilization, but the currently published material does not justify a numeric autonomy claim. SOD’s public equipment extract does not provide a complete, configuration-specific list of freshwater and wastewater capacities, fuel capacity, battery bank, solar array, generator, heating system, or communications equipment.

Those details should be requested in the sales documentation for the exact vehicle. They determine whether a particular Peak is optimized for campground travel, remote expedition use, mobile work, or a mixture of all three. A large chassis alone does not prove how long the occupants can remain off-grid.
For campground electrical hookups, a portable RV electrical-management system can be a sensible accessory category to investigate. Compatibility should be verified against the vehicle’s actual shore-power arrangement and electrical specifications; no generic accessory should be treated as SOD-approved, and the Peak’s hookup amperage is not established by the available research.

Ownership is closer to managing a heavy truck than a normal RV
The Peak’s size and mass create practical implications even before the owner leaves the pavement. It is a custom-built European expedition truck in a roughly 33-tonne chassis class, with heavy-duty driveline components and a living module that requires specialist construction and service knowledge.
That likely affects route planning, storage, workshop access, parts logistics, insurance, shipping, and local operating rules. However, a particular driver’s-license requirement cannot be stated universally: it depends on the vehicle’s registered weight, country or state, license category, and how the vehicle is classified. Prospective owners should verify those requirements with the relevant authority rather than assuming that a normal RV license will be sufficient.
The same caution applies to maintenance. The Mercedes and MAN chassis have established commercial-vehicle foundations, but the finished Peak also contains a bespoke body, hydraulic leveling system, custom subframe, specialized access hardware, and individualized interior equipment.
