Which Sno-Tek models are covered by available manuals?
Sno-Tek is a family of Ariens machines, not one fixed specification. Ariens’ 2011 operator manual covers models 920402 (Sno-Tek 24E), 920403 (Sno-Tek 28E), and 920404 (Sno-Tek 24E), with serial-number ranges specified in the manual. A separate Ariens parts manual identifies model 939401 as Sno-Tek 20. These examples establish that different widths and model configurations exist, but they are not a complete current range or confirmation that those machines remain available new.

Ariens notes that manual specifications reflect what was in effect at printing and may change. Use a manual only after matching its model and serial-number range to your machine. For the three models covered by the 2011 manual, Ariens allows gasoline containing up to 10% ethanol (E10) or 10% MTBE and says using higher concentrations voids the product warranty. That instruction is specific to those listed models and that manual; don’t assume it applies to every Sno-Tek.

- Confirm identity: Record the model and serial numbers, clearing width, and approximate model year. Match them to the correct manual and parts diagram.
- Test operation: Ask the owner to demonstrate cold starting, drive engagement, chute movement, and auger operation. Note any hesitation, unusual noise, or controls that do not respond.
- Inspect wear and service history: Check wear parts and ask what maintenance has been done and when. Compare the machine’s condition with the seller’s account of its use.
- Match it to the job: Consider clearing width and stage/configuration alongside your driveway layout and typical snowfall. A wider machine is not automatically the best fit for every property.
- Check parts support: Verify that parts listed for the machine fit its exact model and serial number before treating availability as a reason to buy.
Are parts and maintenance supplies available?
Ariens’ parts catalog lists a reversible steel skid shoe for 20–28-inch SNO-TEK 920-series snow blowers and a Sno-Tek shear-bolt kit. The catalog indicates that the displayed shear-bolt kit number has been superseded. These listings show that compatible repair and wear parts are documented, but they do not confirm fit for every Sno-Tek. Verify the exact machine in Ariens’ current fitment tool or with a dealer, using its model and serial numbers. Ariens’ SNO-THRO maintenance kit, part 72000800, was documented for select CLASSIC, COMPACT, and SNO-TEK machines. It included 32 ounces of 5W-30 engine oil, two fuel-stabilizer packets, three shear bolts with nuts, and an 11-ounce can of Snow-Jet. Ariens currently marks the kit discontinued, so it should not be treated as an available purchase. What do older Sno-Tek warranty terms mean?
A 2009 Ariens Sno-Tek manual states a two-year limited warranty for original purchasers using the product personally around a household or residence, and 90 days for business, agricultural, commercial, industrial, rental, or leased use. It also sets separate terms for genuine Ariens parts and accessories. Those are historical terms in that manual, not a current warranty promise for every Sno-Tek or purchase. Before relying on a review, ordering a part, or interpreting warranty language, locate the machine’s model and serial numbers and note its clearing width and model year if known. Use those identifiers to find the matching Ariens operator manual and parts diagram; if the serial range does not match a manual, ask an Ariens dealer to verify the documentation. The model number matters because a Sno-Tek 20, 24E, or 28E should not be assumed to share all specifications, controls, service instructions, or parts.
