Skanska has signed a reported $110 million contract with Renton School District to build a new high school in Renton, Washington. The three-storey school is planned for 1,600 students, with completion expected in the third quarter of 2029, according to a DPA report published by Yahoo Finance on October 5, 2026.
What the Renton High School project includes
The planned school is described as a three-storey building with classroom capacity for 1,600 students. The report lists a range of student-support, community and athletic spaces:
- Health services and special services spaces
- Community areas, a library, cafeteria and commons
- Gymnasiums
- A lighted baseball/softball field
- A practice football/soccer field
The announcement does not provide a site area, design team or more detailed construction schedule.
Contract value and schedule
The DPA report puts the contract value at $110 million and says Skanska will include the contract in its U.S. order bookings for the third quarter of 2026. It gives the third quarter of 2029 as the expected completion period; that is a target reported in the announcement, not confirmation of a completed project or guaranteed handover date.
