1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesYes—SimpliSafe works with Google Home and Google Assistant in 2026, but the integration is limited. With a compatible Gen 3 system and eligible monitoring plan, you can use voice commands to arm SimpliSafe in Home or Away mode and check its status. You cannot disarm SimpliSafe by voice.
That makes Google Assistant a convenient voice-control layer—not a replacement for the SimpliSafe app, keypad, or full security-system controls.

Does SimpliSafe work with Google Assistant?
SimpliSafe’s current documentation supports linking an eligible SimpliSafe location with Google Home, Google Assistant, or both. The documented integration focuses on two functions:

SimpliSafe’s support article was updated June 24, 2026. Google’s smart-home platform and assistant experience are also evolving, including Gemini-related changes, so menu labels and voice behavior may vary by device, account, language, region, and software version.
What you need before setup
SimpliSafe currently lists these requirements:
- A Gen 3 SimpliSafe system
- A qualifying SimpliSafe plan: Pro Plus, Pro, Core (formerly Fast Protect), or Self-Monitoring with Camera Recordings for residential customers
- A SimpliSafe account with the correct location selected
- A Google account and the Google Home app, or the applicable Google Assistant app
Not every SimpliSafe generation or monitoring plan is automatically compatible. The plan requirement makes the location eligible for the integration; it does not mean that every feature included in that plan becomes available through Google Assistant.
SimpliSafe’s current residential monitoring page displayed the following daily prices on August 16, 2026: Self-Monitoring with Camera Recordings, 33¢/day; Standard Monitoring, 76¢/day; Core, $1.10/day; Pro, $1.66/day; and Pro Plus, $2.66/day. Prices, promotions, plan names, and availability can change, so confirm the current details directly with SimpliSafe.
How to link SimpliSafe to Google Home
- Open the Google Home app on your phone or tablet.
- Open the menu in the upper-left corner.
- Select Home Control.
- Tap the plus icon in the lower-right corner to add a device or service.
- Find and select SimpliSafe from the list of available services.
- Sign in with your SimpliSafe account.
- Select the SimpliSafe location you want to pair.
- Complete the on-screen linking process.
Google may use different labels or place third-party services in a different part of the app as its interface changes. If you cannot find the exact menu shown above, use the current Google Home app’s device or service-add flow and search the complete list of compatible services.
How to link SimpliSafe through Google Assistant
SimpliSafe also documents a Google Assistant setup route:

In current Google environments, the Google Home app may be the primary place for third-party-device linking. Google says that compatible third-party devices are connected through the Google Home app and that compatibility can vary. See Google’s third-party-device guidance if the labels on your device differ.
Google Assistant commands that work
SimpliSafe currently lists these command examples:
| Purpose | Example command |
|---|---|
| Choose a security mode | “Hey Google, turn on the security system.” |
| Arm Home | “Hey Google, arm SimpliSafe to Home.” |
| Arm Away | “Hey Google, arm SimpliSafe to Away.” |
| Arm Home using alternate wording | “Hey Google, set the security system to Home.” |
| Arm Away using alternate wording | “Hey Google, set the security system to Away.” |
| Check alarm status | “Hey Google, is the security system armed?” |
| Check protection status | “Hey Google, am I protected?” |
For “turn on the security system,” Google Assistant may ask which mode to use. Home mode generally arms selected perimeter protection while people remain inside; Away mode is intended for when occupants leave. The exact behavior depends on your SimpliSafe configuration.
Voice recognition and natural-language interpretation are not infallible. If the response is unclear, check the SimpliSafe app or keypad instead of assuming that an arming command succeeded.
Can Google Assistant disarm SimpliSafe?
No. Google Assistant cannot disarm SimpliSafe by voice. There is no hidden phrase or routine that officially enables voice disarming. SimpliSafe treats this as a safety restriction intended to prevent accidental or unauthorized deactivation.
Use the SimpliSafe mobile app, keypad, or PIN Pad where applicable. For compatible SimpliSafe Smart Lock operation, SimpliSafe says unlocking must be performed through the app, PIN Pad, keypad, or physical key—not a Google Assistant voice command. See SimpliSafe’s Smart Lock guidance.

What Google Assistant does not document
- Voice disarming: not supported.
- Full camera control: current SimpliSafe documentation does not list commands for viewing live feeds, searching camera history, or managing recordings through Google Assistant.
- Complete sensor control: do not assume that every sensor or device appears as an individually controllable Google Home device.
- Voice unlocking: Google Assistant cannot be used to unlock the SimpliSafe Smart Lock by voice.
- Full alarm-management parity: the integration does not replace the SimpliSafe app or keypad.
That means linking SimpliSafe to Google does not automatically let you view a SimpliSafe camera on a Nest Hub or manage its recordings. The current official material reviewed does not document those capabilities. Google Home Premium is designed around compatible Google Nest cameras, doorbells, speakers, and displays; it is separate from SimpliSafe monitoring and does not convert SimpliSafe cameras into Nest devices. Details are available on Google’s Home Premium page.
Troubleshooting connection problems
SimpliSafe does not appear in Google Home
- Confirm that you are using the current Google Home app and the intended Google account.
- Verify that your SimpliSafe system is Gen 3.
- Confirm that the selected SimpliSafe location has one of the eligible plans.
- Update both the Google Home and SimpliSafe apps.
- Search the complete list of third-party services rather than relying only on automatic device discovery.
- Check that your SimpliSafe credentials work directly in the SimpliSafe app or website.
- Unlink and relink SimpliSafe if authentication appears incomplete.
- If you have multiple Google homes or SimpliSafe locations, select the intended location during pairing.
Google’s general guidance says that third-party compatibility can vary. A changed menu, temporary authentication issue, unsupported system generation, or ineligible plan can all prevent the service from appearing or linking.
Google cannot complete an arming command
- Use a documented phrase such as “arm SimpliSafe to Home” or “arm SimpliSafe to Away.”
- Say the system or location name clearly if you have multiple homes or systems.
- Ask for the status after issuing the command.
- Open the SimpliSafe app and confirm the actual state before relying on the result.
If Google’s response conflicts with the app or keypad, treat the app or keypad as authoritative.
A Google Home routine fails
SimpliSafe documents direct voice commands, not every possible Google Home routine or automation. A routine may depend on Google’s current automation support, account configuration, permissions, location settings, and third-party integration behavior. Google also warns that support for third-party devices may vary; see its automation guidance.
Do not rely on an unverified routine for a security-critical action. Check the system manually after any automation that matters.

Privacy and security considerations
Adding Google Assistant puts another account, app, cloud service, and smart speaker in the control path. Voice arming may be convenient, but consider where commands can be heard and who can access the Google account or speaker.
The no-voice-disarm rule is an important protection. Use strong, unique credentials for both Google and SimpliSafe, enable available multifactor protections, and keep the apps updated. Avoid treating a voice response as proof that the alarm is correctly configured or that every protected opening is secure.
Is SimpliSafe a good choice for a Google-centric home?
It is a sensible combination for existing Gen 3 SimpliSafe owners who want hands-free Home/Away arming and status checks. It is less suitable if Google Home is intended to be the single interface for cameras, locks, sensors, video history, and alarm management.
| Choose SimpliSafe with Google Assistant if you want… | Look more closely at alternatives if you need… |
|---|---|
| Convenient voice arming | Voice disarming |
| Quick Home/Away control | Detailed control of every sensor and device |
| Status checks from a Google speaker or display | A unified Google camera and security dashboard |
| To keep an eligible existing Gen 3 system | Deep, security-critical Google Home automations |
| To use the SimpliSafe app or keypad for disarming | Google voice control of a Smart Lock |
Readers buying a new system primarily for Google integration should compare current capabilities directly before purchasing. Ring, abode, and Wyze are possible comparison candidates, but their current Google compatibility, monitoring terms, hardware support, and voice-control limits should be verified independently.
Bottom line
SimpliSafe and Google Assistant work together, but only as a narrow voice-control layer. If you have Gen 3 hardware and an eligible plan, Google can arm the system in Home or Away mode and report its status. It cannot disarm the alarm by voice, unlock a SimpliSafe Smart Lock by voice, or be assumed to provide full camera, sensor, or automation control.
Best Value
- Home Security Systems
For an existing SimpliSafe owner, the integration can be worthwhile. For a Google-first smart-home buyer, compare the complete ecosystem—not just whether a product appears in the Google Home device list.
