SESCO Cement’s Port Redwing terminal in Gibsonton, Florida, has moved from commissioning to commercial operation: after its first two bulk cement vessels arrived, Port Tampa Bay reported that they were unloaded and deliveries to regional customers had begun.
What the first vessel arrivals confirm
Port Tampa Bay reported on October 2, 2026, that SESCO’s first two bulk cement vessels had been unloaded and customer deliveries across the region were underway. The arrivals marked the start of operating activity following the terminal’s June opening announcement. Port Tampa Bay’s October 2 update confirms the unloading and deliveries.

Trade coverage adds an important qualification: each ship made a partial discharge at Tampa before continuing to SESCO’s Houston terminal. The available reports do not state how much cement was discharged in Tampa. World Cement’s September 30 report describes the route.

The facility is at Port Redwing, 6035 Diana Toledo Almeida Road, Gibsonton, Florida. SESCO’s opening announcement described a ship-to-silo-to-truck operation: vessels discharge cement using a custom-designed, wheel-mounted ship unloader and mobile conveyor system; trucks then load from storage for regional distribution.
#1 Best Overall
- QUICK SETTING: Sets in 20 minutes
- VERSATILE: Indoor, and outdoor use
- EASY TO USE: Ready to use! Just add water, mix, and use!
- MULTIPLE SURFACES: Handrails, bolts, poles, fixtures, and more
- PRACTICAL SIZE: 10 pound bag saves your back while providing plenty of cover
SESCO said the terminal has nearly 100,000 tons of silo storage capacity. The company also said the unloader arrived after a 25-day voyage and was assembled in Tampa following nearly two years of engineering and design. These are company-reported facility specifications, not figures for the amount handled by the first vessels. SESCO’s June 9, 2026 opening announcement provides the facility details.
What Florida construction customers may receive
SESCO positioned the terminal to serve Florida construction markets, using maritime shipping alongside highway and rail connections. The company identified cement, supplementary cementitious materials and aggregates as materials it anticipates handling. Ready-mix concrete producers are among the customer types the opening announcement identified.
Rank #2
- FOR EASY REPAIRS — It's the ideal concrete patch repair mix, neatly fixing cracks and spalls so your property looks like new. It's even textured for a more seamless blend with the existing structure
- TOUGH AND DURABLE — Formulated to avoid shrinking or cracking, the ready-to-use premixed cement patch offers good adhesion and high strength so your slabs, walls & walkways/sidewalks perform as good as ever
- EASY CLEANUP — Sika concrete patch is acrylic-based, so once application is done, it cleans up using only water. No need for special cleaners and chemicals
- GREEN — It follows regulations concerning the use of volatile organic compounds (VOC), helping to keep the air we breathe cleaner and fresher
- A BREEZE TO USE — Minimal prep is required, since it comes premixed. Just use a putty or trowel to spread where repairs are needed. It takes only a few hours to set and about a day for a full cure
The port authority described the terminal as additional capacity intended to support construction-material demand in West Central Florida. SESCO said the facility would be Florida’s largest cement terminal upon full build-out. That is a future capacity claim; it does not establish that the terminal held that ranking when commercial operations began.
What the announcement does not establish
The reported start of deliveries is evidence that regional supply activity has begun, but the available announcements do not quantify the first ships’ Tampa cargo or measure changes in local cement prices, construction costs, or total regional supply. It would be premature to attribute lower prices or an end to shortages to these arrivals.
