Those figures show the scale of its investment, but they are not construction budgets: Alphabet’s measure also includes servers, network equipment, data center land, office facilities and other property and equipment. Google’s dated projects in Texas, Virginia, Indiana and the UK offer a more concrete view of where some of that infrastructure is planned or being developed.
What Alphabet’s spending figures include
Alphabet’s 2025 Form 10-K reports capital expenditures of $52.5 billion for 2024 and $91.4 billion for 2025. It says capital investment in property and equipment includes technical infrastructure—servers and network equipment, as well as data center land, building construction and improvements—and office facilities, ground-up development and building improvements. The filing also says technical-infrastructure investment was expected to increase significantly in 2026 relative to 2025. That is a forward-looking expectation in the filing, not a reported 2026 expenditure total.

How data center projects move from land to operation
Alphabet describes data center construction as generally a multi-year, multi-phase process. A project may involve acquiring land and buildings, constructing facilities, then securing and installing servers and network equipment. Those stages can fall in different years, so an announced investment or construction project does not by itself establish that a facility is complete or operating. Alphabet’s 2025 Form 10-K

Google’s Texas announcement also included energy procurement and workforce training as parts of the wider program. These illustrate why a state-wide investment figure should not be read as the cost of constructing buildings alone.
For Virginia and Indiana, Google’s April 2024 announcement described $3 billion in planned campus investments. The figures distinguish an additional investment in existing Virginia campuses from the Fort Wayne campus amount, but do not provide a construction-only breakdown.

Google’s UK announcement discusses the Waltham Cross data center and King’s Cross office development in the same investment context. The 1 million-square-foot figure applies to the office development, not to the data center.

What these figures can—and cannot—say about scale
The company-wide capital expenditure totals establish the scale of Alphabet’s overall property and equipment investment, while the announcements identify selected projects and their stated investment programs. They cannot be added together as if they were comparable construction costs: they cover different dates and scopes, and Alphabet’s totals include equipment and other assets beyond buildings.

The cited company and SEC materials do not provide a consolidated worldwide construction-only total or a single total for the area of Google facilities under construction. Selected projects therefore show geographic breadth, not a complete count or measurement of Google’s global building program.
