Its concealed power column, full-width hinged cable tray, rigid metal desktop, integrated controls, and coordinated accessory ecosystem solve problems that ordinary standing desks leave to aftermarket parts. The premium is harder to justify if you want a deep conventional work surface, a replaceable desktop, broad third-party accessory compatibility, or the lowest total cost.
In short, buy it for exceptional cable organization and a polished, visible setup. Reconsider it if the desk’s proprietary ecosystem and premium price matter more to you than those advantages.

Verdict in brief
The MAGNUS Pro is probably the best sit-to-stand desk for a tidy, multi-device gaming setup, but “ultimate” depends on what you value. Its integrated power system is genuinely more useful than a basic cable basket: the desk’s power route travels through a leg, while the full-length rear tray keeps the power strip and surplus cable out of sight. That design is particularly valuable when the desk sits in the middle of a room or is visible on camera.

Secretlab lists a steel frame, a metal desktop, dual electric motors, three programmable height presets, a 25.6-to-49.2-inch height range, a 265-pound distributed-load capacity, and a five-year warranty. Those are strong specifications, although Secretlab’s motor-cycle, hinge-cycle, load, and “best-in-class” claims are manufacturer claims rather than independent laboratory results.

Current US price and configurations
Prices change with size, finish, promotions, and bundles. On Secretlab’s US product page on August 18, 2026, the standard 1.5-meter MAGNUS Pro page displayed a $1,099 nominal price, a $988 selling price, and a $948 displayed bundle total when the MAGPAD bundle discount was applied. The configuration area showed the desk at $899 and a Signature Black MAGPAD at $89. Treat these as dated price observations, not permanent MSRP.
The final cost can rise quickly once monitor arms, a PC mount, cable accessories, or lighting are added. The MAGPAD is optional; Secretlab’s FAQ says the desk does not require it.
That makes the practical comparison less straightforward than comparing desk-only prices. A MAGNUS Pro with two monitor arms and accessories can be a substantially more expensive workstation than the bare desk. Its value depends on whether the integrated design replaces enough separate hardware and setup effort to justify the premium.
MAGNUS, MAGNUS Pro, and MAGNUS Evo: what is different?
Secretlab’s desk comparison separates three related products:
- MAGNUS Metal Desk: a fixed-height metal desk.
- MAGNUS Pro: the premium motorized sit-to-stand model with an all-metal desktop, concealed power delivery, and the flagship accessory ecosystem.
- MAGNUS Evo: a lower-positioned sit-to-stand desk that retains several ecosystem and cable-management ideas but uses a different desktop construction.
The Evo is not simply the Pro at a discount. Choose the Pro if the metal top, premium finish, and flagship construction are central to your decision. Choose the Evo if you mainly want Secretlab’s cable-management philosophy and coordinated accessories at a lower entry point. Current 2026 third-party reviews have placed the 1.5-meter Evo at approximately $749 in the US, but that figure should be checked against Secretlab’s live storefront.

The standard model is easier to fit in a smaller room and suits one or two monitors with ordinary peripherals. The XL is the more sensible choice for a multi-monitor workstation, streaming setup, large speakers, or a separate work-and-gaming arrangement. Bigger is not automatically better: measure circulation space and viewing distance before choosing it.
The headline depth needs careful interpretation. It includes the rear cable-management area, so the entire 27.6 or 31.5 inches is not equally available for your keyboard, mouse, monitor stands, and forearm support. Buyers who prefer a deep conventional office desk may find the forward usable area less generous than the specification suggests.

The 265-pound rating is a distributed-load figure, not an invitation to concentrate the entire weight at one edge. Monitor arms, speakers, a PC mount, and other concentrated loads can affect stability even when the total weight is below the published limit.
Why the cable management is the main reason to buy
On most standing desks, cable management is an accessory problem. You attach an underside tray, position a power strip, add slack for movement, and try to keep everything from swinging when the desk rises. The MAGNUS Pro builds much of that work into the desk.
The system includes:
- A full-length rear cable tray.
- A hinged cover that provides access from above.
- A concealed power route through one desk leg.
- Power delivery positioned inside the cable-management system.
- Side routing and magnetic cable anchors, sheaths, and related accessories.
The hinged tray is the standout feature. You can open it from above to add or remove cables without repeatedly crawling underneath the desk. A monitor, computer, light, charger, and other equipment can remain connected to the desk’s organized power route while the desktop moves.
This matters most when the desk is visible from all sides. Instead of a power strip hanging below the rear edge, the wiring can remain contained behind the hinged cover. The result is not merely cosmetic: fewer loose cables are exposed to chair wheels, feet, pets, and camera views.
It does not eliminate cable planning. Every cable connected to the moving desk needs enough slack for the full height range. Floor-mounted computers, speakers, wall outlets, and lighting may require longer leads. The concealed electrical route also means the desk has more specialized components than a basic frame-and-top design, which can make troubleshooting and replacement-part logistics more involved.
Sit-to-stand performance and stability
The dual-motor system is designed to move the desk smoothly between seated and standing positions, and the three programmable presets make it practical to save a sitting height and one or two standing positions. That is more useful than repeatedly searching for a comfortable height, especially in a shared or multi-purpose workspace.
The published range is broad, but the correct position still depends on body proportions, chair height, keyboard placement, monitor elevation, and foot support. A desk that reaches 49.2 inches is not automatically suitable for every tall user, and a low minimum height does not replace proper chair adjustment for shorter users.

Secretlab says it tested the desk through 20,000 up-and-down motor cycles, 10,000 rear-cover hinge cycles, and a distributed functional-load test using 118 kg. These are useful disclosures, but they are Secretlab’s own test claims, not independent durability measurements.

Stability should also be judged with realistic conditions rather than a blanket “wobble-free” label. Professional coverage has described the desk as unusually stable at full height, while user reports are mixed. Results can vary with floor level, foot adjustment, height, load distribution, monitor arms, PC mounts, and production revision. A proper evaluation should check typing and mouse movement at seated height, mid height, and maximum height.
The metal desktop: premium, rigid, and not universally comfortable
The metal top gives the MAGNUS Pro a distinctive appearance and a rigid surface. It is a strong fit for buyers who want a premium gaming-room or studio aesthetic rather than a conventional wood office desk.
Metal is not automatically more ergonomic. Some users may find it cold, slick, or louder than wood or laminate, particularly when moving a keyboard, mouse, or metal equipment across it. A desk mat can make the surface more comfortable, provide mouse tracking, and protect the finish. Secretlab’s MAGPAD is designed for that role, but it is optional and adds to the cost.
The slim 20 mm tabletop can help with chair-arm clearance, but it does not determine ergonomic quality by itself. Proper monitor height, keyboard and mouse position, chair adjustment, foot support, and regular changes between sitting and standing matter more than the material alone.
Monitor arms and accessory compatibility
Check your monitor hardware before buying. Secretlab lists support for a single monitor arm with screens up to 34 inches, a dual arm for two 34-inch screens side by side, and a heavy-duty arm for ultrawide monitors up to 35.2 pounds. Its vertical monitor stand can support up to four monitors subject to that product’s specifications. The heavy-duty arm guide identifies a 17.6-to-35.2-pound capacity range.
The lowest-risk route is Secretlab’s own monitor arms because they are designed around the desk’s rear geometry and cable tray. The trade-off is cost and portability: a proprietary arm may be less useful if you later move to another desk.

Third-party arms may fit, but compatibility is not universal. The rear tray and desk geometry can limit clamp depth or prevent a clamp from sitting directly against the rear edge. Before purchasing, verify:
- Clamp depth and minimum clearance.
- Whether the clamp can open around the tray and desktop.
- Arm position relative to the hinged cover.
- Monitor weight, size, and VESA requirements.
- Clearance for the arm throughout the desk’s height range.
Reports from Secretlab users show that some third-party arms work, but one successful installation is not a guarantee for every arm, monitor, or desk revision.
Assembly, delivery, and room planning
This is a heavy desk that should be planned like a substantial piece of equipment, not treated as a lightweight flat-pack table. Secretlab lists the standard desk at 125 pounds and the XL at 150 pounds. Packages, doorways, stairs, elevators, and the final turning area all deserve attention before delivery.
- Measure the route from the delivery point to the room, including door openings, stair landings, and elevator interiors.
- Clear a large area near the final location for assembly and turning.
- Use two people for lifting and flipping the frame and desktop.
- Assemble as close as possible to the final position; moving the completed desk is awkward.
- Level the feet carefully before judging stability.
- Leave enough slack in every cable for the full travel range.
Follow the current assembly guide and user manual, rather than relying on an older video or forum post. Do not sit or stand on the desktop. The manual also warns about overheating and states that the system limits continuous height adjustment to help prevent it. If the controls or motors stop responding, consult the current manual and Secretlab support instead of applying an unverified reset procedure.

Secretlab lists a five-year warranty for the MAGNUS Pro. That is meaningful coverage, but some office-desk competitors market longer warranties. The practical value depends on the regional terms, parts availability, shipping arrangements, and the company’s handling of a fault.
Scattered user reports mention power or control problems, replacement-part logistics, differences between older and newer revisions, and dissatisfaction with customer service. These are anecdotal experiences, not evidence of a known failure rate, and they should be weighed against the product page’s large volume of positive customer reviews. The page displayed a rating around 4.8 out of 5 from roughly 7,900 reviews when checked; that is a retailer-hosted, manufacturer-site rating, not a controlled reliability survey.
For a motorized desk, keep the order information, model details, manuals, and photographs of the installation. Those records can make warranty support easier if a control panel, motor, cable, or power component needs attention.

MAGNUS Pro versus the main alternatives
Secretlab MAGNUS Evo
The MAGNUS Evo is the natural alternative for buyers who like Secretlab’s appearance and integrated cable-management concept but do not need the Pro’s all-metal desktop and flagship positioning. It is a lower-cost route into the ecosystem, but the different desktop construction is a real distinction.
FlexiSpot E7 and E7 Pro
FlexiSpot’s E7 family is more attractive when value, conventional desktop choices, and configuration flexibility matter more than integrated power architecture. You can often approach the project as a frame plus a separate desktop, although price, capacity, stability, and warranty vary by exact E7 version.
UPLIFT V2
UPLIFT V2 follows a more conventional office-desk model, with broad choices of desktop materials, sizes, and accessories. It may suit buyers who prioritize customization and future tabletop replacement over Secretlab’s gaming styling and concealed power route.

A separate frame and desktop can provide a larger or deeper surface, easier repairs, and more freedom to replace the top later. It usually takes more planning and separate components to achieve the MAGNUS Pro’s clean, integrated appearance.
Which version and setup should you buy?
- For streamers: The Pro is compelling when the desk appears on camera and several lights, microphones, monitors, and chargers must move together. Budget for the monitor arm and cable accessories.
- For multi-monitor users: Choose the XL if the room allows it. Verify monitor-arm clearance and total monitor weight before ordering.
- For a small room: The standard 1.5-meter model is easier to place, but measure the chair’s pull-back space and walking routes.
- For office-first users: Compare the Pro with UPLIFT or FlexiSpot. A deeper, replaceable conventional desktop may be more useful than the metal surface.
- For budget buyers: Consider the MAGNUS Evo or a separate frame and desktop. Do not compare the bare MAGNUS Pro price with a complete alternative setup.
- For existing monitor-arm owners: Confirm clamp depth and tray clearance before buying. A compatible third-party arm can save money, but Secretlab’s own arm is the safer fit.
- For people who rarely stand: A fixed-height MAGNUS or an ordinary desk with aftermarket cable management may deliver better value if the cable tray is your main interest.
Final assessment
The MAGNUS Pro earns its premium most convincingly through integration. Its rear tray, concealed power route, magnetic accessories, rigid metal top, and sit-to-stand controls work together to create a workspace that is unusually tidy and easy to present. That is a meaningful advantage for gaming rooms, studios, and desks positioned away from a wall.
It is not the universal winner. The usable desktop depth is less generous than the headline measurement, accessory compatibility requires checking, the complete setup can cost far more than the desk alone, and the five-year warranty is not the longest available. Stability is strong in some setups but should not be described as guaranteed at every height or load.
