Samsung did not launch a refrigerator with built-in Tetris branding. In a partnership announced on December 6, 2021, Samsung and The Tetris Company introduced Samsung Stackers—a limited-edition set of food-storage containers shaped and coloured like Tetrimino pieces.
The containers were designed to sit in a refrigerator or freezer and be arranged like a real-life Tetris puzzle. They were marketed alongside Samsung’s Bespoke refrigerator range, but they did not require a Samsung appliance.

What Samsung Stackers were
Samsung Stackers were reusable food-storage containers rather than a new refrigerator model. The set represented all seven classic Tetrimino shapes, using the familiar cyan, yellow, purple, green, blue, red and orange colour scheme. Samsung presented them as a playful way to store leftovers and organise refrigerator space.
The idea was straightforward: instead of filling shelves with identical rectangular boxes, users could arrange differently shaped containers together, much like falling pieces in the game. Samsung described the concept as a way to make food storage more engaging and potentially use awkward or vertical areas of a refrigerator more effectively.

Samsung’s launch announcement and The Tetris Company’s announcement both describe the product as a limited-edition food-storage range.
It was not a Tetris-themed refrigerator
The Tetris branding applied to the containers, not to the refrigerator itself. There was no documented Tetris refrigerator hardware, Tetris software mode or special Samsung appliance required to use the set.

That association appears to have contributed to the “Tetris fridge” description, but buying a Samsung refrigerator was not presented as a condition of using Samsung Stackers.

Charity and material claims
Samsung and The Tetris Company said that all profits from Samsung Stackers would go to the European Food Banks Federation. “All profits” is more precise than “all proceeds”: the announcement referred to profit from sales, not necessarily every pound or euro paid by customers.
The launch material described each container as made from 100% OPP, identified with CAS number 9003-07-0, and described the material as recyclable. It also referred to FSC-certified outer packaging.

Those statements do not, by themselves, establish that the containers were airtight, leakproof, microwave-safe, dishwasher-safe, BPA-free or suitable for every freezer temperature. The available official pages do not provide enough technical information to make those additional claims.
Would the containers really save space?
Samsung Stackers were designed around the idea of arranging leftovers like Tetris pieces. That could make refrigerator organisation more enjoyable and might help some users use vertical or irregular shelf space.

However, the official material presents this as a design concept and marketing claim, not as independently tested evidence. No verified figures were provided for container capacity, dimensions, seal performance, leak resistance, stacking strength, freezer performance or food-waste reduction.
In practice, irregular shapes can be a mixed trade-off. They may fit together creatively, but conventional rectangular containers usually make shelf capacity, lid replacement and storage planning more predictable. A Tetris-shaped container is therefore not automatically more space-efficient than a standard box.

Can you use them in any refrigerator?
Nothing in the cited official announcements says Samsung Stackers only work with Samsung or Bespoke refrigerators. They were described for use in a refrigerator or freezer, so the practical requirements should be ordinary ones: sufficient shelf clearance, a compatible storage temperature and enough room to arrange the pieces safely.
Because the official pages do not provide a detailed compatibility chart, buyers should check the container dimensions and handling instructions before using them in a particular shelf, drawer or freezer compartment.

If a marketplace listing appears, treat it as possible old stock or resale inventory unless the seller can demonstrate otherwise. Before buying, verify:
- that all seven containers are included;
- whether the item is new, opened or used;
- the dimensions and capacity of each piece;
- the condition of the packaging and lids;
- the seller’s shipping and return terms;
- the material and food-storage instructions;
- whether the asking price is substantially above the original £20/€25 launch price.
What to choose instead
For practical food storage, a conventional modular system from a reputable kitchen-storage manufacturer may be the better choice. Rectangular containers are generally easier to compare by capacity, stack in standard shelves and drawers, and match with replacement lids.
Samsung Stackers’ main advantages were their novelty, licensed Tetris styling, gift appeal and distinctive organisation concept. They make the most sense for Tetris fans, collectors or shoppers who value the design more than maximum storage efficiency.
They are not a reason to purchase a premium Samsung refrigerator. If the goal is simply to organise leftovers, choose containers based on seal quality, cleanability, material information, temperature limits and replacement-lid availability—not on the refrigerator brand.
The accurate takeaway
“Samsung fridges get Tetris-themed food storage” is a catchy but misleading summary. The real product was Samsung Stackers: a limited-edition European release of seven Tetrimino-inspired food containers announced in 2021 for £20 or €25. They were intended to be used in ordinary refrigerators and freezers, including but not limited to Samsung models.
Current stock, pricing and US availability remain unconfirmed. Buyers should regard any present-day listing as resale or old stock unless an authorised seller provides current product documentation and a verifiable purchase route.
