Samsung has not eliminated the One Connect Box from The Frame family. For the 2026 U.S. lineup, the regular The Frame moves its connections onto the television, while the premium Frame Pro keeps a Wireless One Connect Box. Samsung also adds a 98-inch standard Frame and a 55-inch Frame Pro.
That change matters most during construction or remodeling: the standard Frame needs convenient power and cable access at the wall behind the TV, while the Pro can place source equipment elsewhere—but still needs power for both the television and its wireless box.

What changed in Samsung’s 2026 Frame lineup?
Samsung announced the 2026 U.S. refresh on April 2, 2026. The regular The Frame is available in 55, 65, 75, 85 and 98 inches. The 98-inch model is new and is Samsung’s first “Super Big Art TV.”

So the headline is only partly true. Samsung is backing away from the separate box on the regular 2026 Frame, not from the Frame product family as a whole. The Pro retains the wireless version, and a remaining 2025 standard Frame may still be the right choice for buyers who specifically want a wired box.
What built-in connections mean for a wall-mounted installation
Samsung’s stated goal is simpler setup. The 2026 standard Frame includes a Slim Fit Wall Mount and rear stoppers designed to make connecting and disconnecting cables easier while the TV remains mounted. Ports are accessed at the back of the television rather than on a separate hub. Samsung describes the installation change here.
For a construction or renovation project, however, “simpler” depends on the wall layout:

- Power must be available behind or near the TV. The built-in-port design does not make the television cordless.
- HDMI devices connect at the wall. Consoles, disc players and computers may require longer cables or a recessed media box.
- Cable bend and clearance matter. Check the outlet depth, HDMI connector clearance and the space left by the mount and TV chassis.
- Future access should be planned. A tightly mounted, heavy display can make frequent device changes inconvenient even if Samsung’s rear stoppers improve access.
If the wall has no outlet or cable route behind the television, the 2026 standard Frame may be a poor fit unless an installer can provide an accessible side route or in-wall pathway. Electrical work and recessed boxes should comply with local code and be planned with a qualified electrician.
What the Frame Pro’s Wireless One Connect Box changes
The Frame Pro keeps external device connections in a separate Wireless One Connect Box. Samsung rates the wireless link for up to 30 feet under suitable conditions. The box can therefore sit in a nearby console or equipment area instead of directly behind the screen. See Samsung’s Frame design information for the range and limitations.
It is not a completely cable-free installation:
- The television needs its own power connection.
- The Wireless One Connect Box also needs power.
- Walls, metal cabinets and other obstructions can interfere with the wireless connection.
- The intended box location should be tested before cabinetry, concealment or finish work is completed.
An open shelf or nonmetal cabinet is a safer plan than assuming a signal will pass reliably through a closed metal enclosure. If a soundbar is important, Samsung says the 2026 Pro’s Micro HDMI port supports eARC; verify the exact regional port arrangement and cable requirements before rough-in.

The Pro is more than a remote input box
The 2026 standard Frame uses a QLED 4K panel and NQ4 AI Gen2 processor. The Frame Pro uses a Neo QLED 4K panel and NQ4 AI Gen3 processor, along with AI Motion Enhancer Pro and AI Sound Controller Pro. Samsung also lists Motion Xcelerator 144Hz on both models, while DLG 240Hz is limited to compatible PC gaming and reduces image resolution.

In other words, the Pro is not simply the same television with a more convenient cable hub. It is a higher display tier as well as a different installation solution.

Should you buy the 2026 Frame, Frame Pro or a 2025 model?
Choose the 2026 standard Frame when:
- You want the lowest 2026 price at a given size.
- Your wall already has suitable power and cable access behind the TV.
- You mainly use built-in streaming apps and rarely change HDMI devices.
- You want the new 98-inch size without stepping up to a Pro model.
Choose the 2026 Frame Pro when:
- Your source equipment needs to stay in a cabinet or console away from the display.
- You want the Neo QLED panel and Pro processing features.
- You can provide separate power for the TV and Wireless One Connect Box.
- The planned box location has a reliable, unobstructed wireless path.
Consider a discounted 2025 Frame when:
- A wired One Connect Box is your preferred installation method.
- You want 43- or 50-inch options represented in the 2025 U.S. lineup.
- You value a lower price more than the newest processing and 2026 features.
Check the exact model number before buying old stock. The 2025 55-inch standard model is identified as QN55LS03FAFXZA and lists a One Connect Box on Samsung’s product page. Sale pricing and warranty terms should be confirmed at the time of purchase.
A pre-installation checklist
- Confirm the country and exact model code; the specifications above are for the U.S. consumer lineup.
- Mark the TV centerline, mount location and the required power point.
- For the standard Frame, plan HDMI routing, cable length, bend radius and rear clearance.
- For the Pro, plan two power locations and an open, nonmetal area for the Wireless One Connect Box.
- Confirm soundbar and eARC requirements before closing the wall.
- Test wireless operation at the intended Pro box location before finishing cabinetry or concealment.
- Have electrical work and recessed media-box installation reviewed for local-code compliance.
Samsung says the 2026 TVs support up to seven years of One UI Tizen OS updates. That is a platform-support claim, not a guarantee that every individual app or service will remain available for seven years.

Bottom line: The 2026 standard Frame is simpler in component count but puts power and HDMI planning directly behind the display. The Frame Pro preserves the remote-box concept and adds higher-end picture hardware, but requires two powered locations and a dependable wireless path. If you want a wired One Connect Box at the lowest likely price, a verified discounted 2025 Frame remains the most direct alternative.
