Which Samsung POWERbot R7040 is this?
Samsung’s US product sheet identifies the POWERbot R7040 as model VR1AM7040WG/AA in neutral gray. The review below is about that model, not every POWERbot in the VR7000 family. Samsung POWERbot R7040
Samsung lists Visionary Mapping Plus, FullView Sensor 2.0, Wi-Fi, Edge Clean Master, and CycloneForce among its features. Its product sheet describes the mapping and sensor system as creating a cleaning path and avoiding obstacles. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not independent measurements of navigation performance.
How well does it clean bare floors and carpet?
RTINGS published its review on July 6, 2020, and updated its test bench on September 23, 2022. It called the R7040 “an okay overall robot vacuum,” reporting decent performance on bare floors but difficulty cleaning carpet. RTINGS also noted that its battery life was not the longest and its dirt compartment was small. These are findings from that review and test history, not new testing.

The practical takeaway is that the R7040 is more plausible for a home with primarily hard flooring than one where carpet pickup is the priority. The available review does not establish a head-to-head advantage over any particular competing vacuum, so it should not be treated as a current-model ranking.

Samsung’s “20x More Powerful Suction” headline is a company claim based on its internal test of the POWERbot VR7000 against the conventional VR10F71UCAC. It is not an independent comparison, and the product sheet does not make it evidence that the R7040 will outperform a particular current vacuum.
Samsung’s older sheet also describes control through SmartThings or Smart Home apps and Amazon Alexa, subject to wireless-network and app requirements. Because the sheet is older, it does not establish that every app, operating system, or integration remains supported today.

What maintenance does the R7040 need?
RTINGS describes routine cleaning of the brush, shutter tool, dirt compartment, filter, wheels, and sensors. The filter is washable but must dry before it is put back in the vacuum. Samsung’s support page provides manuals for the model family, including a US English VR7000 manual modified September 5, 2022. RTINGS reported virtually no recurring costs when the vacuum is maintained. That observation does not guarantee that brushes, filters, batteries, or other parts will never need replacement. Samsung’s support page does not establish current warranty coverage, repair availability, or parts stock.
Can you replace the R7040 battery?
A Cameron Sino replacement-battery manual lists the POWERbot R7040 and model VR1AM7040WG/AA as compatible with battery part DJ96-00193B. This is a third-party compatibility claim, not confirmation from Samsung. Before buying an R7040 replacement battery, check the model suffix on your vacuum and compare the part number on the installed battery with the seller’s current listing.
