What are the Samsung Music Studio 5 and 7?
The Music Studio 5 and Music Studio 7 are Samsung’s 2026 wireless speakers, introduced ahead of CES 2026. Each is intended to work as a standalone speaker for music, television, films, and general room audio. They can also integrate with compatible Samsung televisions and other Samsung audio products.
Unlike conventional bookshelf speakers, they are not sold as a matched left-and-right stereo pair. One enclosure can produce a broad or processed sound field, but it cannot create the same physical left/right separation as two speakers placed apart.

Samsung developed the design with Erwan Bouroullec under its “Dot Design by Bouroullec” branding. The goal is for the speaker to look intentional in a living room rather than disappear completely. That means decor-friendly, not invisible: both models remain substantial freestanding speakers with a distinctive sculptural appearance. Samsung explains the Music Studio design concept here.

What the Music Studio 5 offers
The Music Studio 5 is the lower-cost, less complex model. Samsung describes it as a 2.0-channel speaker using a 4-inch woofer, dual tweeters, and a built-in waveguide. It supports Wi-Fi streaming, Bluetooth, voice-control functions, casting and streaming services described in launch coverage, plus Wireless Dolby Atmos and Q-Symphony on Samsung’s U.S. listing.

Samsung also promotes AI Dynamic Bass Control, which it says dynamically manages low-frequency output to improve bass while reducing distortion. The available information does not show how the algorithm responds at different volume levels, whether it limits bass to protect the driver, or how it compares with conventional digital signal processing. Treat it as a Samsung processing feature, not a guarantee of distortion-free bass.
What the Music Studio 7 adds
The Music Studio 7 is the more ambitious model. Its 3.1.1-channel architecture is designed to create a more immersive sound field from one cabinet. CES coverage describes top-, front-, left- and right-firing output, while Samsung lists Wireless Dolby Atmos and Q-Symphony.
Samsung also cites Audio Lab Pattern Control Technology for sound calibration, AI Dynamic Bass Control, and processing of up to 24-bit/96kHz. That is a stated processing capability, not proof that every streaming service, source, or wireless connection will deliver audio at that resolution.

- Superior sound performance: Harman Kardon's unrivaled acoustic engineering delivers rich, room-filling sound in any setting, whether you're listening to your favorite music or making crystal clear conference calls.
- Elegant design: Crafted from premium materials, the Onyx Studio 8 neatly blends into your life and home. The sleek, anodized aluminum handle, which doubles as a sturdy base, means you can easily carry it from one room to another.
- Self-Tuning: Enjoy perfect sounds wherever you take the music. When you power on, the Onyx Studio 8 automatically calibrates to its environment, ensuring the best sound possible no matter where you set it down.
- Bluetooth streaming for up to 8 hours: The Onyx Studio 8 pairs seamlessly with any Bluetooth device for enhanced, extraordinary audio. And since music is meant to be shared, you can switch your playlists with anyone by simultaneously connecting two devices to the speaker. With 8 hours of battery time and no power cord tying you down, you can place the Onyx Studio 8 anywhere and get on with the music.
- Crystal Clear Calls: Designed with a built-in dual microphone for a far-field voice clairty, the Onyx Studio 8 helps you enjoy crystal clear hands-free calls from practically anywhere in the room
The $200 premium makes sense only if the additional spatial processing and Samsung ecosystem features matter to you. It does not automatically make the Music Studio 7 a substitute for separate front, center, surround, and subwoofer speakers.
Does a single Music Studio speaker create true surround sound?
The Music Studio 7’s upward- and side-firing drivers are intended to use reflected sound to create a wider, more three-dimensional presentation. But a single enclosure cannot reproduce the physical separation of a multi-speaker surround system.
Dolby Atmos branding also does not guarantee a convincing overhead soundstage in every room. Ceiling height, wall reflections, furniture, placement, and listening position all affect the result. A heavily furnished room may absorb reflected effects, while a very reflective room may make them more pronounced. “Immersive 3D audio” is best understood as Samsung’s design goal unless independent testing confirms the performance.

What Q-Symphony means for Samsung TV owners
Q-Symphony is Samsung’s ecosystem feature for coordinating compatible Samsung TV speakers with a compatible Samsung audio device. In practice, a qualifying Samsung TV may be able to play alongside the Music Studio speaker instead of leaving the TV speakers unused.
The cited Samsung specification material identifies compatibility with Samsung TVs from 2022 through 2026, with exclusions including The Serif and The Sero. Exact compatibility can depend on model, region, firmware, and connection requirements, so check your TV and speaker documentation before buying. Samsung’s Music Studio 7 specification sheet provides the cited compatibility qualification.

Best Value
- 2 x AUX INPUT - Convenient connection to any device that has a 3.5mm headphone output or dual RCA output. Connect to two devices via AUX at the same time, no plugging and switching needed.
- STUDIO SOUND QUALITY - Natural sound reproduction from 13mm silk dome tweeter and 4 inch full range unit
- REMOTE CONTROL - Adjust volume at your figure tips. Bass and treble control located on the side of main speaker.
- CLASSIC WOOD FINISH - High quality MDF wood build finished with wood effect vinyl serves as a great compliment to any home decor.
- SIDE PANEL CONTROLS - Use the side panel knobs to adjust the EQ to your liking. The controls are located on the active/powered speaker.
How to place the speakers
- Use a stable surface and keep sound openings unobstructed.
- Do not enclose either speaker inside a cabinet or press it against heavy curtains.
- For the Music Studio 7, avoid blocking the upward- and side-firing drivers.
- Leave room for reflected spatial audio to reach the ceiling and walls.
- Use Samsung-supported calibration or room-optimization functions where available.
- Judge the sound from the intended seating position, not only from beside the speaker.
Samsung’s wireless features still require power, and Wi-Fi functions may depend on your home network, app support, account setup, and firmware.
Can one speaker replace stereo speakers or a soundbar?
Not universally. The Music Studio 5 is specified as 2.0-channel, but that does not mean it behaves like two widely separated stereo speakers. The Music Studio 7 prioritizes convenience and spatial immersion over traditional two-speaker imaging.
A matched stereo pair remains the better choice for precise left/right music staging. A soundbar is generally better for a wide TV-centered front stage and dialogue placement. A soundbar with a subwoofer or a full surround system remains more suitable for deep movie bass and dedicated home theater.

The Music Studio 7 may suit someone who wants TV and music audio without a long soundbar, especially when paired with a compatible Samsung TV. Samsung’s separate CES soundbar products, including the HW-QS90H and refreshed HW-Q990H, should not be confused with the Music Studio speakers.
