If your Samsung dryer is not drying clothes, first check whether it produces any heat. No heat points to power, gas, an error code, or a fault that may need service; some heat with damp clothes or long cycles more often calls for checking airflow, the load, and the selected cycle. Start with the lint filter and exhaust vent, and use only troubleshooting tests supported by your model.
The steps below reflect Samsungβs US support guidance. Dryer controls, vent requirements, and error-code meanings vary by model, so use the manual for your exact model number before changing the installation or running a diagnostic test.
First, tell no heat from slow or incomplete drying
Check the display for an error code and look it up in the Samsung dryer error-code guide and your modelβs manual. To check for heat, Samsung describes running Time Dry with Eco Dry off and checking whether the drum warms after about 30 seconds. Follow the model instructions for this check. A symptom alone does not establish that a particular component has failed.
- No heat: Check the displayed code and the dryerβs power or gas connection before arranging service.
- Some heat, but clothes stay damp or the cycle runs unusually long: Check the lint filter and the full exhaust path; restricted airflow can keep heat and moisture from leaving properly.
- The cycle ends too soon: Check the load, selected cycle, and any displayed code. A diagnostic test may also report that laundry is still in the drum or that the door is open.
Check the connection and installation
For US electric models, Samsung says the outlet must supply 240V. One of the two circuits can trip while the display and motor still work, so check the household breaker as described in the manual. For a gas dryer, verify that the gas connection was installed correctly and is on. Follow the installation instructions; Samsung recommends professional installation.

Clean the lint filter and inspect the exhaust vent
Clean the filter every load
Remove lint from the filter before or after every cycle, as Samsung recommends. If drying remains poor, continue to the exhaust route: a clean screen does not show that the entire vent is clear.
Check the full vent route
Samsung recommends cleaning the exhaust vent once or twice a year, even when the dryer seems to be working normally. Inspect the route for lint buildup, kinks, flattening, poor sealing, unsuitable material, excessive length, or unnecessary turns. The permitted material and maximum length depend on the model; check its manual. Samsung notes that each 90-degree turn reduces the maximum permitted length by six feet. Restricted exhaust can keep heat and moisture from escaping and may cause the dryer to reduce heat.

A vent-cleaning brush kit can help with accessible ductwork, but a brush may not reach or clear every configuration. Follow the dryer and tool instructions. If the duct is difficult to access or remains blocked, use a qualified vent-cleaning service.
Run a vent blockage test only if your model supports it
Samsungβs vent-test button combination varies by model. Check your manual or Samsungβs vent blockage troubleshooting guidance for the correct procedure; do not assume a sequence from another dryer applies. In the procedure Samsung describes, the drum must be cool and empty, the door closed, and the display may show βInsβ or βInβ before you hold Start/Pause.

Interpret the result using the instructions for your specific model. Samsungβs guide lists these possible outcomes:
- 0 or End: The test detected no clog.
- CLg, Cg, C80, or C90: The test detected a clog.
- Ct: The test temperature is outside the stated range; let the dryer reach room temperature and repeat as directed.
- HC: Abnormal temperature; follow the guide and seek service if it persists.
- dc: The door is open; close it and repeat.
- C1 or CL1: Laundry is detected; empty the drum and repeat.
- 9C1: Abnormal voltage; check the connection and request service if the code returns.
A clear test is not a guarantee that every part of the exhaust route is unobstructed. If drying is still poor, inspect the installation and vent as far as safely accessible, and follow the manualβs guidance.

Check the load and selected cycle

Reset only after addressing the likely cause
A power reset may clear an electronic glitch, but Samsung says it will not clear a blocked vent. Its general guidance is to unplug the dryer or cut power briefly, then restore power; check your modelβs instructions and address any airflow problem first. If a code returns or the dryer still fails, avoid repeatedly clearing it: the code can help identify the fault.
When to request service
Samsung advises requesting service if the vent test passes but the dryer still has no heat. Contact support as well if heating or temperature errors persist after cleaning the lint screen and vent, or if a code remains after the troubleshooting steps for that code. Use the Samsung US support portal to find manuals, warranty information, troubleshooting, and repair options. Service availability and warranty terms depend on your location and dryer; confirm them with Samsung.
