Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Samsung’s Bespoke AI Laundry Combo is a premium, full-size washer-dryer in one appliance. The U.S. vented model, WD90F53AVBUS, combines a 5.3-cu.-ft. washer and electric dryer, AI-assisted cycle selection, a 7-inch touchscreen, and SmartThings connectivity. Its strongest advantage is convenience: clothes can go from wash to dry without a transfer. Its main limitations are equally important—Samsung’s advertised 68-minute result applies to specified conditions, the machine processes only one load at a time, and the vented version requires a 240-volt/30-amp circuit plus a suitable dryer vent.
For a space-conscious homeowner who values a transfer-free workflow, it is an impressive option. For a large household that needs to wash and dry simultaneously, separate appliances remain the better choice.

What Samsung’s luxury laundry combo actually is
The product referred to as Samsung’s luxury laundry combo is the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, particularly the U.S. model WD90F53AVBUS in Brushed Black. “Luxury” is a fair editorial description of its Bespoke styling, large display, smart-home integration, and premium positioning, but it is not Samsung’s formal technical classification.

- Smart Wi-Fi Enabled: Control washer and dryer remotely via SmartThings app
- 4.7 cu ft capacity Washer with Active WaterJet & vibration reduction tech
- Built-in WaterJet faucet lets you pretreat stains inside the tub
- Self Clean keeps the tub fresh without harsh chemicals
- Load dirty clothes into the drum.
- Select a wash or wash-and-dry program.
- The machine washes and then dries the load without manual transfer.
- Remove the finished laundry, preferably soon after the cycle ends.
That workflow solves a common problem—forgetting to move wet clothes from the washer to the dryer. It does not create the throughput of two independent machines. While the combo is drying, it cannot wash a second load.
Samsung’s official product page and specification materials list both vented and ventless versions in the current U.S. product family. Confirm the full model number and drying configuration before ordering.

How fast is the Samsung combo in real use?
Samsung advertises a 68-minute performance figure for this product family. That headline should not be interpreted as a promise that every full wash-and-dry load will finish in 68 minutes.
The available Samsung product information does not establish one universal time for every combination of load size, fabric, soil level, drying target, and option. Actual duration can change with:
- Load size and how tightly the drum is packed
- Towels, jeans, bedding, and other dense fabrics
- Soil level and selected temperature
- Extra rinses, steam, or sanitizing functions
- The selected dryness level, from damp to very dry
- Vent configuration and airflow conditions
- Moisture remaining in the load at the end of washing
The accurate takeaway is that Samsung claims a 68-minute result under a specified cycle or test condition. It is not evidence that a maximum-capacity load of towels will routinely wash and dry in 68 minutes. A completely packed drum may wash well but take longer to dry or produce less even results, particularly when the load contains dense fabrics.
Do not directly compare Samsung’s 68-minute figure with another manufacturer’s headline time unless the cycle, load weight, test method, and dryness target match.

Is 5.3 cubic feet genuinely high capacity?
Yes—5.3 cu. ft. is a large drum for an all-in-one appliance and is the reason Samsung calls the unit “Ultra Capacity.” It is substantially roomier than many compact combo machines and is within the range that full-size laundry buyers expect.
Capacity still needs context. Drum volume describes the available space; it does not guarantee that the largest possible wash load is also the ideal dry load. Drying is affected by fabric density, airflow, moisture distribution, and the selected dryness level. Towels and bedding can need more room to tumble effectively than lightweight clothing.
The combo also remains a one-load appliance. A separate washer and dryer can wash one load while drying another, making the separate setup more productive over a busy day even if the combo’s drum is large.
Vented versus ventless: the installation decision
Vented Samsung combo
The WD90F53AVBUS is the vented configuration. Samsung lists a dryer vent connection and a 240-volt, 30-amp electrical requirement. If a home already has a properly routed dryer vent and the required circuit, this version may offer a familiar exhaust arrangement and potentially faster moisture removal than some ventless designs.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →It is not plug-and-play, however. The vent must be correctly routed, terminated, and kept clear. Poor airflow can lengthen drying times and create a maintenance issue. The installation also needs the correct circuit, water supply, drain, floor support, and clearances.
Ventless Samsung combo
Samsung also lists a ventless version in its current U.S. materials. Ventless installation can be more practical where an exterior dryer vent is unavailable or cannot be added. It should not be assumed to have identical cycle times, electrical requirements, drying behavior, clearances, or pricing to the vented model.
Choose the exact ventless model only after reviewing its own installation documentation. A ventless design may expand placement options, but “ventless” does not mean that the appliance needs no planning: it still requires water, drainage, electrical service, floor support, and adequate service clearance.
| Question | Vented version | Ventless version |
|---|---|---|
| Exterior dryer vent | Required | Not required, subject to the exact model’s instructions |
| Best fit | Homes with suitable venting and 240-volt service | Spaces where adding an exterior vent is difficult or impossible |
| Drying comparison | Do not assume identical performance to ventless models | Confirm the model’s cycle times and electrical requirements |
| Installation risk | Incorrect vent routing or blockage can hurt drying performance | Different heat-management and clearance requirements may apply |
What the “AI” features do
Samsung’s AI label covers several different functions rather than a guarantee of faster or better drying in every situation.

- AI OptiWash & Dry: sensing and automation intended to adjust wash and dry behavior to the load.
- AI Home display: a 7-inch LCD touchscreen for cycles, settings, guidance, and appliance information.
- AI Pattern: learning or adapting to usage patterns as described by Samsung.
- SmartThings and Wi-Fi: remote monitoring, notifications, controls, diagnostics, and software updates where supported.
- Voice control: integration with Bixby and compatible smart-home functions.
- Self-diagnosis: tools intended to help identify certain appliance conditions.
The useful distinction is between automation and capability. Sensors may help select or adjust a cycle, but they cannot overcome an overloaded drum, incorrectly sorted fabrics, a blocked vent, or a load that is naturally difficult to dry. Internet-connected features also should not be confused with basic local operation; verify the owner’s manual for which functions require a Samsung account, Wi-Fi, SmartThings, or voice services.
Cycles and features worth paying attention to
Samsung’s specification materials list 23 cycles and 34 options. The inventory includes AI OptiWash & Dry, Super Speed, Steam Sanitize, Bedding, Towels, Time Dry, Air Fluff, Pump Clean, Auto Open Door, Vent Blockage Test, and Self Diagnosis.
The most practically meaningful features are:
- Automatic dispensing: Flex Auto Dispense can reduce measuring, but detergent compatibility and correct dosing still matter.
- Auto Open Door: opening the door after a cycle can help release moisture and reduce the chance of a damp, closed drum remaining sealed.
- Steam and sanitize programs: useful for particular laundry goals, though they may affect time and energy use.
- Dryness choices: Very Dry, More Dry, Normal Dry, Less Dry, and Damp Dry give more control than a single fixed setting.
- Vent Blockage Test: relevant to the vented model when drying performance declines or airflow needs checking.
- Pump Clean and tub-care functions: important for an appliance that combines washing and drying in one cabinet.
Is the touchscreen better than physical controls?
The touchscreen makes a large number of cycles and options easier to navigate than a crowded physical dial. It can provide guided selections, status information, and a more polished user experience.
The trade-off is complexity. A large display and additional electronics create more components that may require service than a basic washer with a simple control panel. Before buying, confirm that ordinary wash and dry operation remains available if Wi-Fi or cloud features are unavailable. Also consider whether everyone who uses the laundry room will find a screen-based interface intuitive.

Installation checklist for a remodel or replacement
Do not order this appliance based on a nominal 27-inch width alone. Include the delivery path, door swing, service access, connections, and floor conditions in the design.
- Measure the route. Samsung lists shipping dimensions of approximately 293⁄8 by 491⁄4 by 361⁄16 inches and a shipping weight of about 308.6 pounds. Measure doors, hallways, turns, stairs, and elevator access.
- Measure the finished laundry opening. Account for the cabinet, hoses, vent, door opening, vibration clearance, and access for future service.
- Confirm electrical service. The vented WD90F53AVBUS is listed at 240 V, 60 Hz, and 30 amps. Have an electrician verify the circuit and local code requirements.
- Confirm venting. For the vented model, verify the route, duct size and material, termination, elbows, and clearances. A short, properly routed path is preferable to a restrictive or improvised one.
- Confirm plumbing. Provide accessible hot- and cold-water shutoffs, a suitable drain arrangement, and hoses that reach without kinking.
- Check the floor. The appliance must be level and supported on a suitable surface. An uneven floor can increase vibration and noise.
- Check closet ventilation. Samsung’s specification material calls for two unobstructed air openings totaling at least 72 square inches for the applicable closet or alcove arrangement. Verify the exact diagram for the selected model and installation configuration.
- Plan maintenance access. Do not surround the unit so tightly that filters, hoses, vent connections, drain components, or electronics cannot be serviced.
For the ventless version, do not reuse the vented model’s electrical or clearance assumptions. Use the installation instructions for that exact model.

Maintenance and likely ownership issues
A combo appliance needs attention on both the washer and dryer sides. Recommended habits include:
- Clean the lint system regularly.
- Use Easy Lint Clean, Pump Clean, tub-care, and other maintenance functions as directed.
- Keep the door gasket and detergent-dispenser area clean and dry.
- Use the Vent Blockage Test on the vented version when appropriate.
- Inspect the vent path and exterior termination if drying becomes slower.
- Do not overload the drum, even though its capacity is large.
- Use compatible detergent and avoid over-dosing.
- Remove finished laundry promptly to reduce odor and wrinkling.
- Keep the machine level and address unusual vibration rather than ignoring it.
There are also structural trade-offs that no smart feature removes. If this one appliance fails, both washing and drying are unavailable. Complex electronics, sensors, touchscreen controls, automatic dispensing, and connectivity may make diagnosis or repair more involved than with a simpler machine. These are design risks, not evidence of a verified defect rate for this model; the available information does not establish one.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsSamsung versus LG’s premium WashCombo
The principal alternative in this research is the LG SIGNATURE WashCombo WM9998HBA. LG lists a 5.8-cu.-ft. capacity, ventless Dual Inverter HeatPump drying, a standard 120-volt plug, a 7-inch LCD touchscreen, and ThinQ connectivity.
LG advertises a wash-and-dry cycle as fast as 89 minutes, but it explicitly qualifies that figure as a Quick Wash+Dry cycle using a 10-pound DOE standard load in internal testing. Samsung’s 68-minute headline is not directly comparable without matching the cycle, load, test method, and dryness target.
| Factor | Samsung WD90F53AVBUS | LG SIGNATURE WM9998HBA |
|---|---|---|
| Stated capacity | 5.3 cu. ft. | 5.8 cu. ft. |
| Drying configuration | Vented model; Samsung also lists a ventless family version | Ventless heat pump |
| Electrical claim | 240 V, 30 A for the vented model | Standard 120-volt plug listed by LG |
| Headline timing | Samsung advertises 68 minutes under specified conditions | LG advertises up to 89 minutes for a qualified Quick Wash+Dry test |
| Smart platform | Samsung SmartThings and Bixby-related features | LG ThinQ |
| Observed price signal | Samsung pages showed different prices by channel and configuration | LG page showed $2,599 during the August 18, 2026 check, with a $3,399 comparison price |
See LG’s official WM9998HBA page for its current specifications and qualifications. The LG product may be the easier fit where a dryer vent or 240-volt circuit is unavailable. Samsung may be more attractive to buyers already invested in SmartThings or who have the required vent and electrical infrastructure.
Price: verify the exact configuration
Price is especially difficult to summarize as one permanent number. Samsung’s consumer page showed a $1,999 promotional total with a $3,099 comparison figure when checked, while Samsung’s business page showed separate signals of $2,099 for vented and $2,299 for ventless. Those differences may reflect channel, promotion, fulfillment, finish, or page state.
Before buying, record:
- The complete model number
- Vented or ventless configuration
- Finish and retailer or sales channel
- The date checked
- Whether the displayed amount is a sale price, comparison price, financing offer, or installed price
For a construction or remodeling budget, compare the complete installed cost: appliance, delivery, electrical work, vent work, plumbing changes, floor or cabinet modifications, accessories, and any protection plan. Do not assume a pedestal or other accessory is compatible until Samsung confirms it for the exact model.
Who should buy it?
It is a good fit if you:
- Want one load to proceed from washing to drying without a transfer.
- Have limited floor space but can accommodate a full-size 27-inch appliance.
- Prefer a premium appearance and large touchscreen.
- Use or want Samsung SmartThings.
- Have the required electrical service and, for the vented model, suitable vent infrastructure.
- Usually run one load at a time and value convenience more than maximum daily throughput.
Choose separate machines instead if you:
- Run several loads continuously.
- Need to wash one load while another dries.
- Have a large family with high daily laundry volume.
- Regularly dry bulky items and want maximum dryer throughput.
- Prefer simpler controls and easier replacement.
- Want redundancy if one appliance is out of service.
Consider a ventless combo or separate heat-pump dryer if:
- Your home lacks an exterior dryer vent.
- You want to avoid adding a vent route.
- You can meet the exact model’s electrical and clearance requirements.
- Energy efficiency and ventless drying are more important than the potentially faster moisture removal of a vented design.
Bottom line
Samsung’s Bespoke AI Laundry Combo is a genuinely high-capacity all-in-one appliance with a compelling transfer-free workflow and a premium interface. The 5.3-cu.-ft. drum is large for a combo, but the machine is still limited to one active load and should not be judged by the 68-minute headline alone.
The decisive question is installation. The vented WD90F53AVBUS needs a suitable 240-volt/30-amp circuit, dryer vent, water connections, drain, floor support, and service clearance. If those requirements fit your home and your laundry volume is moderate, it can be a strong space-saving choice. If you need parallel processing, simpler ownership, or the ability to replace one appliance without losing both functions, buy separate washer and dryer units instead.
