Samsung Ballie did not reach consumers in 2025. Samsung’s promised first-half and summer launch windows passed without a verified retail release, and the company has not announced a replacement date or price. Reporting in 2026 describes Ballie as an internal innovation platform, but Samsung has not formally confirmed that it has canceled the project.
Which Ballie launch dates did Samsung miss?
Ballie’s history moved from concept demonstrations to specific consumer availability promises, then to a missed launch.

| Date | What Samsung or reporting said | What happened |
|---|---|---|
| CES 2020 | Samsung introduced Ballie as a small rolling home robot. Samsung’s Ballie archive collects its coverage. | This was a concept demonstration, not a firm retail launch announcement. |
| CES 2024 | Samsung showed a redesigned Ballie with a projector and proposed home-assistant functions. Samsung’s CES 2024 description outlines the demonstrations. | The company presented a more developed vision, but not a product independently tested in ordinary homes. |
| CES 2025 | Samsung said Ballie would launch in the first half of 2025, according to subsequent reporting. | The first-half window passed without a consumer release. |
| April 9, 2025 | Samsung and Google Cloud announced Gemini integration and said Ballie was planned for the United States and South Korea in summer 2025. Samsung’s announcement lists the intended functions. | The summer window also passed without a verified retail launch. |
| December 2025 | Samsung was reported to be continuing to refine the technology for a stronger customer experience. TechRadar’s December 5 report covered the delay. | Samsung missed its 2025 launch commitment without providing a replacement schedule, according to SamMobile’s December 7 report. |
As of August 18, 2026, there is no verified public preorder, retail product page, price, completed consumer launch, or new launch date. The announced Gemini partnership showed that Samsung was still positioning Ballie for consumers in April 2025; it did not guarantee that the robot was ready to ship. Samsung described Google Cloud generative-AI technology for Ballie, not necessarily Google’s consumer Gemini app running locally on the robot.
What was Ballie supposed to do?
Samsung’s demonstrations and announcements described Ballie as a mobile home companion that could combine jobs usually handled by several separate devices. These were proposed capabilities, not independent evidence of reliable performance in everyday households.
#1 Best Overall
- PRECISE NAVIGATION: LiDAR sensors create accurate room maps for the Jet Bot plus to navigate so no worrying about your robotic vacuum going to places it shouldn’t; Mapping can also be controlled via the Samsung SmartThings App
- INTELLIGENT POWER CONTROL: Jet Bot plus identifies the surface type and amount of dust and automatically adjusts suction so you get a thorough clean no matter the floor type
- AUTOMATIC EMPTYING WITH CLEANSTATION: A convenient, no-touch, hygienic way to empty your robot vacuum’s dustbin; Clean Station removes dust using Air Pulse technology
- CLEANER AIR: Advanced 5-layer HEPA filtration system traps up to 99.99% of dust
- CHOOSE WHERE YOU CLEAN: Select where Jet Bot should or should not clean by choosing specific areas of your home to clean with Select and Go
- Move around the home: Samsung showed a rolling robot intended to follow users and navigate rooms.
- Project content: The CES 2024 presentation showed projection onto floors and walls, with adjustments based on the user and surroundings.
- Interact with the connected home: Samsung described control of appliances and home lighting, plus greetings at the door.
- Assist with routines: The company listed schedules, reminders, conversational interaction, music and phone calls among intended functions.
- Help monitor the household: Samsung described updates about pets or family members, but the public demonstrations do not establish how accurately or safely that would work in normal use.

Is Ballie delayed, canceled, or still in development?
The most defensible status is that Ballie is an unreleased project with no confirmed consumer launch. Bloomberg reported in January 2026 that Samsung had sidelined the robot and described it internally as an “active innovation platform,” suggesting the technology could continue to be used for experimentation even without a near-term retail product. Bloomberg’s report also noted Ballie’s absence from CES 2026.
Samsung’s official CES 2026 overview and First Look announcement did not announce Ballie availability. Its absence matters because CES featured the original 2020 concept, the 2024 redesign and the 2025 launch promise. It signals reduced public promotion, but does not prove permanent cancellation.

In February 2026, SamMobile reported that Samsung’s Ballie availability-signup page had disappeared and that visitors were redirected to a projector page. That is a sign of diminished consumer-launch momentum, not an official cancellation notice. SamMobile’s report describes the change.
In July 2026, Android Central reported an apparent Ballie companion-app interface leak. It may indicate that some Ballie-related software work continued, but a leaked interface cannot establish that hardware is finalized, that Samsung approved a retail product, or that a launch is imminent. Android Central’s report does not provide a verified sales date or price.
Why might a home robot be difficult to ship?
Samsung’s public explanation, reported by TechRadar in December 2025, was that it was continuing to refine and perfect the technology to deliver a stronger customer experience. Samsung has not publicly confirmed the following as causes of the delay; they are practical challenges inherent in a product combining robotics, projection, cameras, connected-home control and cloud AI.

- Navigation and safety: A home robot must handle clutter, rugs, narrow routes, pets, children and changing light, while avoiding stairs, collisions and getting trapped under furniture.
- Reliable perception: Cameras and microphones need to interpret useful context without misidentifying people, pets or objects.
- Privacy: A device that moves through rooms while sensing its surroundings raises questions about camera and microphone controls, data retention, and what is processed locally or in the cloud.
- Battery and projection: Movement, sensing, wireless communication and projection all draw power. Projection quality can also vary with distance, ambient light and the surface being used.
- Cloud dependence: Conversational features may depend on internet access, service availability and acceptable response times; cloud outages could limit functions.
- Support and compatibility: A consumer product must make clear which smart-home devices, regions and languages it supports, and how it will be repaired and updated.
- Everyday value: Ballie would need to justify consolidating several functions when dedicated cameras, speakers, projectors and robot vacuums may do their individual jobs more consistently.
A staged demonstration can illustrate an intended task; it cannot establish that a robot will repeat it reliably in varied homes without supervision.
Should you wait for Ballie or choose another device?
Do not plan a purchase around Samsung’s old 2025 announcements or treat the 2026 app leak as a release signal. If you need a function now, choose a product category with a clear use rather than assuming one unreleased robot will replace several devices.
| If you want… | Consider… | What it does not replace |
|---|---|---|
| Automated cleaning | A robot vacuum, such as Samsung’s models listed at Samsung’s robot vacuum page. | It is not a conversational companion, projector or general-purpose home assistant. |
| Pet or room monitoring | An indoor smart camera, selected with attention to privacy, cloud storage and subscription terms. | It does not move between rooms or project content. |
| Voice control, music and reminders | A smart speaker or display from a vendor and ecosystem that supports your devices. | It cannot follow you or provide mobile projection. |
| Home-device automation | A compatible smart-home platform such as Samsung SmartThings. | It does not provide Ballie’s proposed mobility or single-device physical presence. |
| Projection | A dedicated projector, including Samsung models at Samsung’s projector page. | It generally requires manual placement or setup and lacks a mobile assistant. |
| A mobile home robot | Check regional eligibility and current program status directly for any alternative. Amazon Astro is one conceptual comparison at Amazon’s Astro page. | Availability, pricing and program status can vary; it is not a universally available substitute. |
If Samsung revives Ballie, look for a real product page with a price and shipping date, supported countries and languages, clear compatibility details, camera and microphone controls, data-handling terms, battery and charging specifications, navigation limits, and warranty and repair information. Independent reviews of finished hardware would answer questions that promotional demonstrations cannot.
