Philips Hue prices in the United States rose on July 1, 2025, after Signify, the company behind Hue, said tariffs were the direct cause. Many products in a post-change comparison cost roughly 10% more, but the increase was not uniform: one documented product did not rise at all. The confirmed change is a 2025 event, not evidence of a new tariff-driven increase in August 2026.
What changed, and when?
Signify confirmed a price increase across its U.S. Philips Hue portfolio effective July 1, 2025, and attributed it to tariffs. The announcement did not include a complete list of affected products or a single percentage for every item. 9to5Google reported Signify’s explanation and effective date; Hueblog noted that product-by-product pricing was not initially specified.

The change was confirmed for the U.S. market. The available announcement does not establish an equivalent increase in Canada, the U.K. or the European Union. Signify also reserved the right to change prices if new or additional tariffs took effect later. That statement leaves open the possibility of future adjustments; it does not confirm that another tariff-related increase has happened.

Hueblog’s post-increase comparison documents these examples. The figures support “roughly 10% on many products,” not an exact, portfolio-wide surcharge. They also do not show how much of any individual product’s price change corresponded to tariff costs, wholesale pricing or Signify’s margins.
Did every Hue product get more expensive?
No. The Hue Secure Wired Camera stayed at $129.99 in the cited comparison, while most of the other sampled products rose. The announcement covered the U.S. Hue portfolio broadly, but the published examples do not establish that every bulb, accessory or fixture increased.

Why U.S. and European prices are not a direct comparison
Hue’s U.S. and European launch prices can look quite different, but converting dollars to euros does not isolate a tariff effect. European consumer prices generally include VAT; U.S. shelf or list prices usually exclude sales tax, which varies by location. Exchange rates, regional distribution, warranty and shipping costs, pricing strategy, and differences between models also affect comparisons.

Those are not necessarily identical products or like-for-like tax-inclusive prices. Neither comparison alone establishes the tariff amount or a universal regional price gap.

What should buyers do now?
Check the actual price, not just the old MSRP
Compare the live price at the Philips Hue U.S. store with retailer listings. A retailer may still have old-stock products or discounts, and street prices can differ from list prices. Check the price at checkout, including shipping and local sales tax; bundles may also change the effective per-bulb cost.
Price the whole installation
A roughly 10% change on one bulb may be modest, but the increase compounds across a multi-room project. Include the bridge, switches, plugs, strips and any entertainment hardware you need rather than comparing bulb prices alone. For an existing Hue household, expanding the system may avoid replacing compatible equipment you already own. A new buyer should include the cost of building that ecosystem from scratch.

Choose alternatives by compatibility and features
There is no single cheaper system that is a direct substitute for every Hue setup. Compare the specific products and their requirements before switching:
- WiZ is another Signify lighting line, but it is separate from Hue; do not assume Hue bridges or accessories will carry over.
- Govee offers smart-lighting products, including decorative lighting and strips. Control, Matter support and local operation vary by product, so check the model’s specifications.
- Nanoleaf is worth comparing for design-focused ambient lighting and products with Matter or Thread support; compatibility and controller needs differ by model.
- IKEA smart lighting may suit a cost-conscious multi-room installation, but confirm each product’s gateway, protocol and integration requirements.
For any alternative, compare like with like—white bulbs with white bulbs, color bulbs with color bulbs—and account for hub or gateway costs, switches, entertainment features, compatibility with existing devices and any migration expense. Current prices for these alternatives are not established here, so check live U.S. listings rather than assuming a particular brand is cheaper.

What is—and is not—confirmed about another increase?
The confirmed tariff-related Hue increase took effect July 1, 2025. Signify’s reservation to adjust prices if additional tariffs take effect is not confirmation of a later increase, and the cited sources do not establish a separate August 2026 tariff-driven hike. They also do not provide a complete official SKU schedule or a tariff-cost breakdown for individual products.
