Roborock RockMow Z1: Is This the SUV of Robot Lawn Mowers?

Roborock’s RockMow Z1 pairs AWD, active steering and suspension with three capacity options. Here’s what its terrain claims, setup and price mean for your lawn.

The Roborock RockMow Z1 earns the “SUV among robot lawn mowers” comparison through its all-wheel drive, active steering and suspension—not because it is a fit for every garden. Roborock claims it can handle slopes up to 80% (38.7°) and obstacles up to 8 cm, while a hands-on review found the Z150 capable on demanding terrain. Its scale and UK price, however, make it more compelling for large, uneven lawns than small, flat ones.

What makes the RockMow Z1 different?

The Z1 is Roborock’s terrain-focused mower, announced in September 2025 as part of the company’s first RockMow and RockNeo lineup. Its SUV-like character comes from a combination of all-wheel drive, active front-wheel steering and a terrain-adaptive chassis with dual independent springs. A floating cutting deck is designed to follow uneven ground. These are design features and manufacturer claims, not proof that the mower will suit every slope, surface or lawn layout. Roborock’s launch announcement introduced the lineup, and its current European product page describes the Z1’s terrain systems.

Terrain figures—and an important discrepancy

Roborock’s current European product page specifies slopes up to 80% (38.7°) and obstacle clearance up to 8 cm. The company’s September 2025 launch announcement instead said obstacles up to 6 cm. Because those official figures differ, treat the 8 cm figure as the current product-page claim rather than an independently verified result; check the exact model and documentation for your market before relying on it.

In a review published on 20 July 2026, T3 described the tested Z150 as well-built, with impressive terrain handling and a clean, even cut. That is one reviewer’s experience, not an independent laboratory result or a guarantee for a different property.

ECOVACS Goat A2000 LiDAR PRO Robot Lawn Mower, Dual LiDAR Navigation
  • Wire-Free Robotic Lawn Mower with LiDAR Navigation - GOAT A2000 LiDAR PRO is a wire-free robotic lawn mower that requires no perimeter wire or RTK antenna. The HoloScope 360° Dual-LiDAR system automatically maps your yard and delivers precise 2 cm positioning — even under trees, near fences, or in shaded areas where GPS mowers lose signal.
  • Built-In Edge Trimming for Clean Borders - Unlike standard robot lawn mowers, this model features an integrated TruEdge trimmer for true edge-to-edge cutting. It trims along driveways, sidewalks, flower beds, and irregular lawn borders — reducing the need for manual string trimming after mowing. (Includes 2 rolls of trimming line, each covering approximately 3km of edging.)
  • High-Power 32V Platform for Thick Grass - Designed for American lawns with Bermuda, Zoysia, Fescue, and St. Augustine grass. The 32V motor and dual-blade disc system provide stronger cutting torque and faster blade rotation, helping this robotic mower handle dense, fast-growing grass and uneven terrain.*Compared to previous GOAT models, based on ECOVACS lab testing.
  • Fast Charging Robotic Mower for Medium to Large Yards - Equipped with a durable 3.0Ah battery and 113.4W fast charging, this robot lawn mower recharges in about 50 minutes. Ideal for homeowners looking for automated lawn care with minimal downtime and consistent scheduled mowing performance.
  • Smart App-Controlled Lawn Mower with Custom Zones - Control your smart lawn mower through the ECOVACS app. Create multiple mowing zones, set no-go areas, adjust cutting height and speed, define travel paths between zones, and customize mowing schedules. Designed for complex yard layouts and personalized lawn care.

Which Z1 size fits your lawn?

Roborock lists three Z1 variants with different rated lawn capacities and battery sizes. Capacity is a manufacturer rating; actual coverage depends on the lawn and how the mower is operated.

Variant Rated lawn capacity Battery capacity Drive speed
Z115 Up to 1,500 m² 6 Ah 0.45 m/s in Daily mode; 0.6 m/s in Efficient mode
Z130 Up to 3,000 m² 7.5 Ah 0.45 m/s in Daily mode; 0.6 m/s in Efficient mode
Z150 Up to 5,000 m² 10 Ah 0.6 m/s in Daily mode; 0.8 m/s in Efficient mode

These figures come from Roborock Help Center’s Z-series comparison. For context, Roborock’s 2025 launch announcement also claimed the Z1 can cover up to 5,000 m² in 24 hours; that is a company-published specification, not a measured result for every variant or lawn.

UK prices reported for the range

T3 reported UK prices of £1,699 for the Z115, £2,299 for the Z130 and £2,999 for the Z150 in its 20 July 2026 review. Prices and availability can change, and those amounts should not be assumed to apply outside the UK. A UK distributor listing accessed on 8 October 2026 showed the range starting at £1,699. How do navigation and setup work?

The Z1 uses Sentisphere navigation, which Roborock says combines Network RTK and VSLAM. The company describes the system as enabling wire-free mapping and navigation in shaded areas, and says the mower can pass through paths as narrow as 0.8 m. Roborock’s European product page also says no base-station installation is needed. These are manufacturer claims; site layout, signal conditions and obstructions can affect what works in a particular garden.

Roborock’s Help Center says Z-series models have built-in 4G and app-based electric cutting-height adjustment. For a Z150, UK retailer specifications list a 24 cm cutting width, six-blade system and electric height adjustment from 20–70 mm. Those cutting specifications are retailer-listed, so verify the exact regional model and package rather than assuming they apply to every variant.

What lawn preparation and maintenance does it need?

The Z1 is intended for routine mowing, not for turning long, neglected growth into a finished lawn in one pass. Roborock Help Center advises owners to cut tall grass manually to or below the maximum height recommended for their model first. It also advises clearing debris and objects from the lawn. The mowing-performance guidance and user manual specify preparation and operating advice.

  • Auto Mapping for More Complete Coverage: Vision AI helps the robot lawn mower understand lawn shapes and boundary types, then automatically maps your yard for smooth paths, closer edge-following, and fuller coverage from day one.

  • Remove toys, wires, stones and other debris before mowing.
  • Trim tall grass to the model’s recommended maximum height before the first session.
  • Expect short clippings to remain on the lawn, as the manual says they can.
  • Wet grass may not produce the best cutting results, even though the manual rates the mower IPX6 water-resistant.

The manual describes a rain sensor that sends the mower back to its station when rain is detected. Rain Delay defaults to 180 minutes and can be changed in the app.

Does the Z1 cut close to edges?

Roborock’s 2025 launch announcement says the Z1 can trim within 3 cm of walls using its PreciEdge blade. That is a company-published specification, not an independent measurement. The user manual says the PreciEdge module is sold separately, so check the exact SKU and package contents before assuming the close-edge module is included.

Is a Z1 better than a smaller-lawn mower?

The Z1’s strongest case is a large property with slopes or uneven ground that make terrain handling a priority. For a small, relatively flat lawn, its size and cost may be hard to justify. Roborock’s own Z-versus-Q comparison positions the Z series for more challenging terrain and slopes up to 80%, while describing Q models as intended for smaller, relatively flat lawns with a maximum slope of 45%. This is the manufacturer’s comparison, not an independent head-to-head test.

Before choosing a model, compare the variant’s rated lawn area with your property, then consider whether its terrain capability, wire-free navigation and electric height control solve problems you actually have. The T3 reviewer reached a similar practical distinction: the Z150’s size and price suit large, uneven and demanding gardens better than small, flat ones.
