It was not an unlimited giveaway, and there is no current entry route for people finding the original headline today.
What was Ring’s #RingAndSing competition?
Ring launched the #RingAndSing Video Competition in the UK as a Christmas campaign intended to encourage a return to door-to-door carol singing. The promotion followed attention around a viral video featuring five carollers from Denny, Scotland, known in the campaign as the “Denny Five”. They also took part in judging the competition.

Ring described the initiative as a way to bring a traditional Christmas activity back to life. In practical terms, however, it was primarily a competition with a charitable donation attached—not a general offer of a free doorbell to anyone who sang outside a house.
Ring’s campaign background provides the company’s account of the Denny carollers and the campaign’s purpose.

When did it run?
The official entry period was:
- Opened: 12:01 a.m. GMT on Monday, 8 December 2025
- Closed: 11:59 p.m. GMT on Monday, 15 December 2025
The competition has therefore ended. The original report was published while entries were open, but it should not be read as a live promotion now. The official competition terms confirm the dates and conditions.
What could the five winners receive?
There were five winners. Each prize package included:
- The opportunity to appear in a Ring Christmas video.
- A £1,000 Amazon gift card.
- £500 of the gift card allocated to the Ring device owner.
- The remaining £500 divided among the performers in the winning video.
- Ring Video Doorbells for the device owner and participating performers.
- The opportunity for the winner’s entire road to receive Ring Video Doorbells, provided neighbours agreed to receive them and supplied the necessary delivery details.
Ring’s terms state that the total retail value of each prize was up to £1,000. That wording should be used rather than treating the campaign as a guaranteed, unlimited supply of devices for every home on a street.
The road-wide element was conditional. A winner could not force neighbours to accept cameras or provide their personal delivery information.

How did entry work?
Eligible entrants had to record people singing a traditional Christmas carol on a Ring Video Doorbell during the entry period. The stated Ring app process was:
- Open the Ring app and find the recording in video history.
- Tap Share.
- Choose Share with Ring.
- Email the generated Ring share link to [email protected].
The terms also allowed entrants to post their performance on TikTok or Instagram using #RingAndSing and tagging @RingUK. However, Ring could still require a valid Ring share link to verify the entry. A phone recording, ordinary security-camera clip or performance filmed in front of a non-Ring doorbell would not meet the stated hardware requirement.
Who was eligible?
According to Ring’s official rules, entrants had to be:
- Permanent legal residents of the United Kingdom.
- At least 18 years old on the date of entry.
Ring employees, participating agencies, affiliates and certain immediate family or household members were excluded.

- Capture it all with Retinal 4K video — See your home or business in the ultimate clarity with Retinal 4K.
- Zoom in up to 10x — Catch details at a distance with up to 10x Enhanced Zoom.
- See, hear and speak to visitors on camera — With Live View & Two-Way Talk with Audio+, you’ll be able to interact with who’s there in real time, right from your phone.
- Tailored detection for more exact alerts — 3D Motion Detection pinpoints motion on your property so you’ll receive more precise alerts and fewer interruptions.
- True color, even in low light — With Low-Light Sight, just a little ambient light gives you true color video. In total darkness, your camera switches to crisp black-and-white to keep details sharp.
Some secondary coverage described the promotion as being open to the UK and Ireland. That conflicts with the official terms, which specify UK permanent residents only. The official rules should take precedence.
Restrictions on the submitted video
The competition’s conditions mattered because doorbell footage can record people and property beyond the entrant’s household. Entries had to:
- Show one or more people singing a traditional Christmas carol.
- Be recorded during the official entry period.
- Be filmed on private property.
- Avoid clear views of public streets or neighbouring property.
- Comply with privacy and data-protection requirements.
- Avoid offensive, defamatory, obscene or otherwise inappropriate material.
- Avoid infringing copyright, trademark, privacy or publicity rights.
If an entry was selected as a potential winner, all participants were required to provide signed waivers. Entrants also granted Ring broad, worldwide, royalty-free and perpetual rights to use, reproduce, modify, publish, distribute and display the submitted content.

How were winners chosen?
Judging involved production partners, Ring employees who were not connected with administering the contest, and the five Denny carollers. The criteria included:
- Compliance with the content rules
- Creativity
- Entertainment value
- Overall quality
Winners were due to be contacted by email within seven days after the competition closed. They then had seven days to claim the prize, with delivery potentially taking up to four weeks.
What was the charity element?
Ring pledged to donate £10 to Strathcarron Hospice for every valid entry, up to a maximum of £50,000. Reaching that maximum would require 5,000 valid entries. The donation was separate from the winner prizes and was not a payment that entrants could claim themselves.

What would receiving a Ring doorbell involve?
A free device would not automatically amount to a complete, cost-free security system. Depending on the model and installation, a Ring Video Doorbell may involve:
Best Value
- AI-Powered Smart Detection: Advanced AI technology accurately identifies people while filtering out vehicles and animals, so you only get the alerts that matter most
- Secure Cloud Storage: Protect your recordings with AES-128 encrypted cloud storage
- Pre-Capture Recording: Cloud subscribers benefit from pre-capture functionality, ensuring the camera starts recording right at the moment motion begins - never miss a thing
- Reliable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Connection: Optimized for 2.4GHz networks to deliver stable, uninterrupted performance. (Not compatible with 5GHz Wi-Fi.)
- Exceptional Night Vision: Equipped with four powerful infrared LEDs and an advanced image sensor, providing sharp, detailed footage even in total darkness
- Suitable existing wiring, or regular battery charging.
- A reliable Wi-Fi connection.
- A supported smartphone or other mobile device.
- A Ring account and app.
- Installation hardware and, where needed, professional installation.
- A compatible chime or another method of receiving indoor alerts.
- A subscription for some recording, storage or advanced features.
Ring’s terms also explain that recordings associated with a promotional subscription trial may become inaccessible if the user does not continue with a paid plan after the trial ends. The exact features and requirements vary by device and plan, so a prize winner would still need to check the applicable product details.
For a road-wide installation, residents would also need to agree where devices were mounted, who controlled each account, how shared areas were recorded and how privacy concerns would be handled. A camera should not be treated as automatically acceptable simply because the hardware was free.
Can you still enter?
No. The #RingAndSing competition closed at 11:59 p.m. GMT on 15 December 2025. Readers should be cautious of social posts or pages that reuse the old headline and suggest that singing now will secure a free Ring Video Doorbell.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesRing may run other promotions in future, but those would need to be checked against a new set of official terms. The expired competition is not evidence of a current offer. Ring’s general discount information is separate from the #RingAndSing competition.
Bottom line
Ring’s headline was based on a genuine UK Christmas campaign, but “free Video Doorbells” was an oversimplification. Five selected adult UK entrants could win packages involving a £1,000 Amazon gift card, devices for performers and potentially devices for consenting neighbours across their road. The campaign also supported Strathcarron Hospice through a donation per valid entry. It ended in December 2025 and cannot be entered now.
