Refurbishment work at 25 Ropemaker is expected to begin next spring, according to a Building report published on 14 October 2026. The scheme currently disclosed for the City of London tower is limited to new ground-floor facades and a new reception. The report does not give an exact start month, budget, completion date, client, design team or refurbishment contractor.
When is the 25 Ropemaker refurbishment due to start?
The reported target is “next spring.” Because the announcement was published on 14 October 2026, that wording points to spring 2027, but it does not establish whether work will start in March, April or May, nor whether the programme could move. No contractual start date has been published.

The timing comes from Building’s 14 October 2026 report, “Revamp of 25 Ropemaker tower set to start next spring”. Until a client, contractor or project team issues a more detailed programme, spring 2027 should be treated as an expected window rather than a fixed mobilisation date.

Several practical questions remain open for tenants, visitors and the supply chain:

- Procurement: no appointment or procurement route for the refurbishment contractor is identified.
- Design responsibility: the architect, facade consultant, engineers and reception-design team are not named.
- Cost: no project budget or contract value is available.
- Operations: there is no published information on hoarding, entrance closures, temporary reception arrangements, deliveries, noise or working hours.

What the spring target means for occupiers and project teams
A spring start normally implies that enabling activity, contractor mobilisation and access planning would need to be settled before works begin, but no such steps are confirmed for this project. Occupiers should wait for formal building-management notices before assuming that the main entrance, reception services or delivery routes will change. Contractors and consultants should likewise avoid treating the reported timing as evidence of an open tender, appointment or guaranteed start.

- Check for a formal announcement naming the client and design team.
- Look for a published planning or building-control reference if the facade or entrance works require one.
- Confirm the appointed main contractor and procurement route before relying on tender or mobilisation claims.
- Ask building management for an access and occupant-management plan once the start window is firm.
- Use the final programme, rather than the phrase “next spring,” to track completion and disruption dates.
At present, the defensible position is that 25 Ropemaker is planned for a ground-floor facade and reception revamp, with work expected in spring 2027, while the project’s cost, team, detailed design and delivery timetable remain undisclosed.
