Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas directed officials to speed up construction of Isarda Dam, linked drinking-water distribution work and land acquisition during a Tonk visit on 8 October 2026, according to The Times of India. The report gives no new dam-wide completion date or quantified construction progress. The latest dated figures available for the connected water project are from a 26 September 2026 state update.
What is the current status of Isarda Dam?
The October review indicates that dam construction was still under way, but it does not quantify how much work remained. The Times of India reported that Srinivas asked officials to expedite construction, the associated drinking-water distribution works and land acquisition. It did not publish a direct quotation from him.

Treatment and main pipeline
The Chief Minister’s Office said a filter plant with a capacity of 225 million litres per day had been built and was undergoing testing and commissioning. Water had been conveyed from the dam intake well to the plant. The state also reported that 299 kilometres of the proposed 341-kilometre main transmission pipeline from the Isarda intake to Mahua had been laid.

Those figures describe the state’s reported progress as of its September update; they do not establish that the whole dam or distribution network was complete.
Urban and rural supply plans
The state set a target of supplying urban areas through the main pipeline by November 2026. That is a government target, not confirmation that supply began or a guarantee of a start date. The release said rural connections would begin in phases where water infrastructure was ready.

When will Isarda Dam be completed?
No revised dam-wide completion date is established in the available reports. The Government of Rajasthan’s Economic Review 2024–25 described construction as about 80% complete and proposed completion by June 2025. That was a historical projection, not evidence that the dam was completed by then. The October 2026 report’s call to expedite ongoing work confirms that construction was still being pursued, but does not explain why the earlier proposed date passed or provide a replacement date.
Which areas are planned to receive water?
The Isarda-Dausa drinking-water project is intended to treat dam water and distribute it through pipelines and local water infrastructure. The Rajasthan Chief Minister’s Office says the planned network covers 1,256 villages and six towns, with more than 306,198 connections targeted and an estimated 3.5 million people expected to benefit. These are state plans and estimates, not verified counts of completed connections or people already receiving water.

What the progress figures do—and do not—show
- Dam construction and land acquisition: officials were told to accelerate this work in October 2026, but the report provides no percentage complete or revised schedule.
- Treatment and transmission: the September 2026 state update reported water conveyed to the filter plant and 299 of 341 kilometres of proposed main pipeline laid.
- Local distribution: urban supply had a November 2026 target, while rural connections were to start in phases where infrastructure was ready.
These measures track different parts of the project. Progress on a treatment plant or trunk pipeline alone does not establish that dam construction is finished or that every town, village or household connection is ready.
