Which APi business grew faster?

Specialty Services grew faster than Safety Services in the quarter, both in reported revenue and in organic revenue. The segments also had different earnings margins, so the company-wide growth rate combines businesses with distinct profiles.

Q2 2026 segment measure Safety Services Specialty Services
Revenue $1.482 billion $773 million
Reported revenue growth 8.8% 22.9%
Organic revenue growth 4.7% 22.0%
Segment earnings $252 million; up 8.6% $92 million; up 29.6%
Segment earnings margin 17.0%; flat year over year 11.9%; up 60 basis points year over year

Organic growth excludes the effects of material acquisitions, divestitures, and currency translation. Reported growth reflects the revenue change as recorded, so it can differ from organic growth.

The SEC filing contains the exhibit and the company’s forward-looking-statement qualifications.

These are StockStory’s comparative calculations, not figures reported by APi or a separate issuer. The article credits actuals and consensus estimates to StockStory, S&P Global Market Intelligence, and Visible Alpha, and market data to Massive; that attribution does not mean those data providers endorse StockStory’s interpretation.

The accessible roundup gives company-specific summaries for five companies. The revenue surprises and share-price snapshots below are StockStory’s calculations as reported in its October 8 article, not issuer-reported measures. Price snapshots are time-sensitive.

The roundup’s visible text does not identify or provide individual comparisons for the other six companies in its stated group of 11. It therefore does not support a complete 11-company ranking from the information presented here. APi’s own release reports Q2 revenue of $2.254 billion; StockStory’s $2.25 billion figure is a rounded summary.

How to read the “market’s biggest risk” question

The roundup’s question about the market’s biggest risk is a framing device, not a conclusion established by the figures it presents. A group-level revenue beat and above-consensus guidance can coexist with falling share prices; the roundup’s numbers alone do not identify why investors repriced the stocks or prove which risk is largest.

For a useful peer comparison, keep the measures and time windows aligned:

  • Distinguish reported revenue growth from organic growth, and compare organic figures only when companies define them consistently.
  • Separate company-reported actual results from analyst-consensus comparisons attributed to a publisher or data provider.
  • Keep GAAP earnings distinct from adjusted or other non-GAAP measures.
  • Compare guidance with guidance, including the same fiscal period and metric.
  • For share-price moves, use the same post-report starting point and an explicitly dated endpoint; a snapshot can change quickly.
