Promise Robotics announced a multi-year commercial agreement with D.R. Horton on October 13, 2026. Under the agreement, the U.S. homebuilder will access Promise’s Factory-as-a-Service (FaaS) production platform to support production of more than 1,250 homes. That is the agreement’s intended scope—not a claim that 1,250 homes have already been built or are guaranteed to be completed. Promise Robotics’ announcement
What is the Promise Robotics–D.R. Horton agreement?
This is a commercial partnership, not an acquisition or a consumer product launch. Promise describes D.R. Horton as the first major U.S. homebuilder to use its production platform. The announcement says the agreement is intended to support production of more than 1,250 homes over multiple years; it does not give a construction schedule for those homes or report completed results. D.R. Horton Senior Vice President of Strategic Growth and Innovation Brad Conlon said the company is focused on cycle times, production capacity, consistency and predictability, and called Promise’s platform a new capability to support those goals. The statement describes D.R. Horton’s rationale, not a measured outcome from the partnership. Promise Robotics’ announcement

Here, “physical AI” refers to software and automation coordinated across a real production process—not a robot independently designing and building a finished house. Promise says its platform takes existing home designs and connects design interpretation, production planning, robotic manufacturing, factory operations and on-site installation. Its system is intended to turn design information into production plans and robotic instructions, coordinate factory work, and link that work to installation at the building site. Promise’s homepage describes a broader system that combines building intent, production planning, factory operations and robotic execution, with AI coordinating workflows and responding to physical conditions. These are the company’s descriptions of its platform; the announcement does not establish a fully autonomous construction process or specify how much work is performed by people versus robots. How Factory-as-a-Service differs from a builder-owned factory
In the model described by Promise, a builder accesses automated production capacity without developing and operating its own factory. The distinction is about who provides the production infrastructure and how design data is connected to factory work and site installation. Promise Robotics’ announcement

- Ergonomically Designed: Work in tight areas with a compact design that gets into tough spots
- Compact and Lightweight: Both tools are designed to fit into difficult to reach spaces. The 1/4" impact driver has a length of 5.55 in. and weighs just 2.8 lbs, while the 1/2" drill/driver measures only 7.5 in. and weighs 3.6 lbs
- Both the DEWALT impact driver and electric drill driver feature integrated LED work lights with a convenient 20-second delay, ensuring enhanced visibility in dimly lit or challenging work areas
- One-Handed Loading - Keep one hand free with a 1/4 in. hex chuck that accepts 1 in. bit tips
- Power drill cordless with 1/2" single sleeve ratcheting chuck provides tight bit gripping strength, making bit changes faster and more secure
The announcement does not include a head-to-head comparison with a builder-owned factory, conventional on-site construction or another production service. It also provides no independent performance study establishing that FaaS lowers costs, shortens schedules or increases output for D.R. Horton. Those outcomes remain goals to evaluate against project-level results.
How many homes are covered, and when will the Phoenix factory start?
- Agreement scope: More than 1,250 homes are intended to be supported by the multi-year agreement. The figure is planned scope, not a completed-home count or guaranteed delivery total. Promise Robotics’ announcement
- Phoenix timing: Promise expects its new Phoenix, Arizona, factory to begin manufacturing in early 2027. This is a forward-looking company estimate, not confirmation that the facility is operating. Promise Robotics’ announcement
- Other listed locations: Promise’s homepage lists production in Calgary and Edmonton, Canada, and Phoenix, United States. It does not clarify whether the Phoenix listing refers to the new facility cited in the announcement. Promise Robotics’ homepage Promise Robotics’ announcement

| +60% faster home construction | A company claim about construction speed. | It does not establish a cycle-time improvement on the homes in this agreement. |
| +2x homes built with the same labor | A company claim about production capacity relative to labor. | It does not establish a labor or output result for D.R. Horton. |
What is not yet specified?
The announcement establishes the partners, intended scale, service model and a forecast for the new Phoenix facility. It does not identify a specific deployment site, a schedule for the 1,250-plus homes, the factory equipment or construction-material suppliers involved, or measured cost and schedule results. Promise and industrial robotics company KUKA announced a strategic technology partnership in January 2022, but that earlier relationship does not establish that KUKA equipment is being used in this D.R. Horton agreement. Promise Robotics’ KUKA partnership announcement Promise Robotics’ announcement
For builders assessing the model, the practical evidence to watch is whether production plans translate reliably from design to factory instructions, how factory output coordinates with site installation, and what project-level data shows about schedule, cost, capacity and consistency. The October 2026 announcement does not report those results.
