There is no substantiated evidence here that Pro Power Saver lowers household electricity bills. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) says it asked the seller to support or change its advertising claims and that the business had not responded by September 27, 2024. That advertising review is not a court ruling, and it does not prove the device is fraudulent. But the claimed savings remain unsupported by the evidence described below—and safety reports about similar plug-in products are a reason to be cautious.
What the evidence says about Pro Power Saver
The BBB’s business profile identifies Pro Power Save as an alternate name for the online-shopping business and gives it an F rating. In an advertising review, the BBB challenged claims including “Best 5-star rated power saver,” sales and a money-back guarantee, as well as claims about the product’s efficacy. It says it requested substantiation, modification or discontinuation of the claims, and that the business had not responded by September 27, 2024. See the BBB business profile.
This record means the savings claims were challenged and, according to the BBB, had not been substantiated to its satisfaction by that date. It is not a regulatory finding, proof of fraud, or a controlled test showing what every unit does.
What customer reviews can—and cannot—tell you
The BBB reviews page displayed four customer reviews and a one-star average when checked for this article. Reviewers described seeing no difference in their electricity bills and reported order, compatibility, customer-service or refund problems. Those are individual accounts, not representative research or measured product tests. The BBB says it does not verify the accuracy of third-party reviews, and the displayed count and average may change. View the BBB customer reviews.

What safety reports on similar plugs mean
Which? reported that laboratory tests of similar marketplace “energy-saving” plugs found they falsely claimed to reduce household electricity consumption. It also cited 2022 government recalls of four similar devices over fire and electric-shock risks. The report is relevant to caution around this product category, but it does not establish that Which? tested or that authorities recalled every product sold as Pro Power Saver. Read Which?’s report on energy-saving plugs.
Why a plug-in box may not cut a household bill
In its discussion of low-voltage, single-phase domestic systems, consumer organization Altroconsumo explains that electrical interference does not create a measurable consumption increase large enough to materially affect a household bill. Interference can cause symptoms such as lighting flicker or audio noise, but those problems do not establish meaningful energy loss. This explanation is scoped to the domestic systems Altroconsumo discusses; it should not be generalized to every power-factor device, commercial installation or electrical setup. How to check what your home actually uses
Electric bills reflect both how much electricity you consume and the way your utility structures charges. A higher bill does not, by itself, show that a particular appliance or electrical issue caused the increase. Compare usage as well as cost, and account for billing days, weather, occupancy and rate changes. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) describes using bills and meter data to understand consumption patterns. DOE guidance on electric bills and meter data.
Start with your bill and utility data
- Compare monthly kilowatt-hours (kWh), not only the amount due. A dollar total can change when rates, fees or billing periods change.
- If your utility offers interval data, check how use varies over time. Advanced meters may provide hourly or 15-minute readings, depending on the utility and meter.
- Ask whether your utility supports Green Button data downloads. Access and time intervals vary by participating utility, so check your utility’s current options. DOE’s Green Button overview.
Use a monitor to observe, not to promise savings
A compatible home energy monitor can help you see electricity use, but it does not reduce consumption on its own. A DOE-hosted summary of a Fort Collins utility program describes a monitor that displayed use in kilowatts (kW), kilowatt-hours (kWh) and dollars. That was a local program example, not a universal DOE product endorsement or a guaranteed savings result. Before choosing a monitor, check what it measures, whether it fits your electrical setup and what data it can show. DOE-hosted summary of the Fort Collins monitor program.

When a home energy assessment is more useful
If you want recommendations tailored to the building, a home energy assessment can evaluate likely sources of waste and identify possible improvements. DOE describes assessments that may use a walkthrough, infrared camera or blower-door test, depending on the home and scope. It also lists auditor certification programs relevant to home energy audits. Ask what the inspection includes, what qualifications the auditor holds and whether recommendations are specific to your home. DOE guidance on home energy assessments.
In the United States, the FTC says a utility may offer or refer customers to a free or low-cost assessment. Availability and eligibility depend on the utility and location. Verify the provider and request specific recommendations before agreeing to paid work. FTC advice on getting a home energy audit.
