Start by identifying whether your Polaris cleaner is pressure-side or robotic, then check its exact model number on the product label or in its manual. The two designs have different causes and fixes, and Polaris’s instructions and parts are model-specific.
Identify your cleaner before troubleshooting
Find the model number on the cleaner or its documentation, then use the matching manual before changing settings or buying parts. Polaris organizes its product support and cleaner manuals and parts by product. If you are unsure which model you have, use the product catalog to identify it first.
Pressure-side cleaners rely on water flow to move. Robotic cleaners instead use a floating cable and electrical power, and have their own filter canister and moving components. Do not apply a pressure-side wheel-speed check to a robotic model, or assume that a part fits every cleaner.
Pressure-side cleaner is not moving
Follow the wheel-speed test and adjustment instructions in your exact model’s manual. Polaris Pool Canada’s March 3, 2022 guidance for its referenced cleaner troubleshooting path gives a target of 28–32 RPM; that range is not established as universal for all Polaris models. See Polaris Pool Canada’s cleaner-not-moving guidance.

- WHAT'S INCLUDED: Polaris Vac Sweep 280 Pressure-Side Pool Cleaner, 31-feet of feed hose, & single chamber filter bag for capturing all types of common pool debris
- Check wheel rotation and speed. Use the model-specific procedure. If the wheels are stopped or below the applicable range, continue with the flow checks below.
- Inspect the in-line filter. Remove debris according to the manual and check whether wheel movement improves.
- Check the water-management system for clogs. If the in-line filter is clear but the wheels still do not turn, follow the model’s instructions for inspecting the water-management system.
Polaris’s troubleshooting FAQs describe low or stopped wheels, debris in the in-line filter, and water-management clogs among the checks for pressure-side cleaners. If the problem remains after these checks, consult the manual or contact a pool retailer or Polaris support rather than guessing at a repair.
Robotic cleaner will not start or shows warning lights
For robotic models, Polaris’s owner manual H0907100 lists several possible causes. Confirm that the instructions apply to your exact model and manual version before acting.

- NO BOOTSER PUMP NEEDED: This advanced pressure-side cleaner is powered by the water pressure coming from the pool's return line, propelling the 360 to eliminate pool debris. Retrofit Eyeball Kit (part number 9-100-8001) available to transition a standard return line into a dedicated return line for proper 360 propulsion.
- FOR IN-GROUND POOLS: Safe for all pool shapes and surfaces including vinyl, fiberglass, gunite, pebble, & title. Attaches easily in pools with a dedicated cleaner return line, but a standard return line can be retrofit to accommodate a Polaris 360 cleaner. Check with your pool pro that you have the proper set-up for a 360 cleaner.
- Complete Coverage: The Vac Sweep 360 is equipped with 3 venturi jets that deliver greater vacuum power, while its larger 2.25" inlet picks up large debris other cleaner types cant.
- CAPTURES LARGE DEBRIS: Equipped with a filter bag that captures debris before it reaches your pool pump basket or filter, prolongin the life of your filtration system.
- WHAT'S INCLUDED: Polaris Vac Sweep 360 Pressure-side Pool Cleaner, 31 feet of feed hose & single chamber filter bag for capturing all types of common debris.
- Floating cable disconnected: Reconnect it as directed in the manual.
- Cleaner not fully submerged: Fully submerge the cleaner before starting it.
- Connection or restart issue: Check the connections and follow the manual’s power-cycle procedure for your model.
- Wheel or propeller jam: Check for an obstruction only as the manual directs. If the component remains jammed, seek service diagnosis.
These checks and escalation guidance appear in the Polaris robotic cleaner owner-manual resources. Do not open electrical or sealed motor assemblies based on these basic troubleshooting steps.
Robotic cleaner floats or will not climb walls
Trapped air or a full or dirty filter canister can interfere with submersion, cleaning, or wall climbing, according to the H0907100 manual’s troubleshooting table.

- Release trapped air. Re-submerge the cleaner using the method shown in its manual.
- Clean the filter canister. Remove debris and clean it as directed for your model, then check whether the symptom improves.
- Check the canister’s condition. If it is damaged or cannot be restored by cleaning, look up a compatible replacement by exact model using Polaris’s parts resources. Canisters and other parts should not be assumed to fit across models.
When basic checks do not solve it
If a warning or jam persists, use the model’s manual and contact a pool retailer, local service representative, or Polaris support for diagnosis. The manual directs owners to a retailer for diagnostic review; the available troubleshooting instructions do not establish a safe do-it-yourself procedure for opening electrical or sealed motor assemblies.
