Signify officially announced the range on September 4, 2025, with availability staggered across late 2025 and early 2026.
The most interesting product remains the Festavia Globe String Lights: weather-resistant, year-round outdoor lighting designed for gardens, patios, balconies and pergolas. They are not automatically the best buy for every homeowner, but they make more sense than conventional seasonal string lights if you want a permanent, controllable outdoor ambience system.

This is an updated look at the original August 15, 2025 report, which identified four products briefly listed on Philips Hue’s website.

The original report said four products had briefly appeared on the Philips Hue website and were expected to be announced around IFA 2025. At that point, pricing and release dates were unknown.

In other words, the central claim held up. However, the eventual announcement was broader than the four products in the leak.
Why the Festavia Globe String Lights stood out
The Globe String Lights were the writer’s personal favourite, rather than an objective winner. Their appeal is easy to understand: they use visible globe-shaped, filament-style bulbs instead of the smaller, more conventional points of light associated with many Christmas strings.
That gives them a stronger role in an outdoor space. Draped across a pergola, fixed around a balcony, hung above a patio or wrapped through a garden seating area, they can function as everyday decorative lighting rather than something installed only in December.
Signify describes the lights as suitable for year-round outdoor use and rates them IP65. They work with Hue scenes and dynamic effects, and Signify also lists Spotify synchronization for music-driven lighting. The IP rating means protection against dust and water jets; it does not mean the lights are submersible or automatically suitable for every climate, installation or exposure condition.

They are best understood as ambience lighting. They can make a patio or garden more inviting, but they are not a substitute for properly designed functional lighting at steps, paths, entrances or work areas.

The Globe range is the natural choice for visible decorative bulbs and flexible outdoor entertaining areas. The Permanent range is better for a homeowner who wants one fixed system along a roofline or facade and is prepared to plan mounting, power and maintenance carefully.

Festavia Globe String Lights
Signify announced 7-metre, 14-metre and 28-metre versions for North America at launch prices of $175.99, $219.99 and $289.99, respectively. The shorter versions were listed for September 2025 availability, while the 28-metre model was listed for December 2025.

Festavia Permanent String Lights
The Permanent String Lights were announced in black and white finishes, with North American launch prices of $399.99 for 27 metres and $599.99 for 45 metres. They are intended for fixed exterior locations such as eaves, facades and rooflines.
They may be a good long-term choice for a homeowner planning exterior improvements, but they deserve the same planning as any other permanently mounted low-voltage decorative system: decide where the power supply will sit, how cables will be routed, how sections will be supported and how future maintenance will be handled.
Hue Secure wired video doorbell
The wired Hue Secure doorbell launched with 2K resolution, a 180-degree fisheye field of view, starlight night imaging, two-way talk and motion and doorbell notifications. It can also trigger Hue lights, making it a logical product for existing Hue households.

Signify listed a North American launch price of $169.99 and October 2025 availability. The wired design is a drawback for anyone who wants a quick battery-powered installation. Security buyers should also compare recording, privacy, storage and subscription policies rather than choosing solely for lighting integration.

Hue Bridge Pro
The Hue Bridge Pro launched at a listed North American price of $98.99. Its most important connection to the original leak is MotionAware, a feature that lets compatible Hue lights detect movement and trigger lighting, alarms or notifications.
There is an important qualification: Signify says MotionAware requires both Bridge Pro and a Hue Secure subscription. It is therefore not simply a free lighting upgrade unlocked by purchasing new hardware.
The launch was much larger than the leak
Signify’s September 2025 announcement also included Philips Hue Essential bulbs and starter kits, a substantially expanded strip-light range, Hue OmniGlow, Hue Flux indoor and outdoor strips, a neon outdoor strip, Essential strip and flex-strip products, a Hue Secure Smart Chime and a Hue Secure 2K wired camera.
OmniGlow was positioned as a brighter, more uniform strip-light option, with up to 4,500 lumens and chip-scale-package technology intended to reduce visible spotting. Signify listed North American launch prices of $139.99 for 3 metres, $199.99 for 5 metres and $349.99 for 10 metres, with November 2025 availability listed.

The broader picture is not just four new products. It was a portfolio refresh spanning entry-level bulbs, architectural strip lighting, outdoor decoration and security.

- Choose Globe String Lights if you want visible, decorative, year-round lighting for a patio, garden, balcony or pergola and already use—or intend to use—the Hue ecosystem.
- Choose Permanent String Lights if your priority is a fixed roofline, facade or eave installation and you are comfortable with the higher price and more involved mounting work.
- Choose the Secure Doorbell if you want a wired front-door camera that can connect security events with Hue lighting.
- Choose Bridge Pro if you have a large Hue installation, specifically want MotionAware or want access to newer Bridge Pro features. It is not an automatic upgrade for every small Hue setup.
- Choose the Essential range if you are new to Hue and want a lower-cost entry point without immediately buying the premium range.
- Choose OmniGlow or another strip-light option if you need bright, continuous-looking architectural light rather than exposed decorative bulbs.
Before installing outdoor Hue lighting
- Measure the route. Include the actual path around a pergola, eave or balcony, not just the straight-line distance.
- Plan the power location. Confirm that the outlet, transformer and cable route are appropriate for the installation and protected from avoidable exposure.
- Choose the visual role. Globe lights provide a noticeable decorative feature; permanent strips are generally better when you want the building itself to read as illuminated.
- Check the exact regional documentation. Product lengths, connectors, mounting accessories, ratings and availability can differ between markets.
- Confirm ecosystem needs. Full automations, Spotify synchronization, Hue Entertainment and MotionAware may require different combinations of a Hue Bridge, Bridge Pro, app features and subscriptions.
- Do not treat IP65 as unlimited weather protection. Check temperature limits and installation guidance for local conditions, including snow, salt air, severe storms and locations where water can collect.
Is Bridge Pro a straightforward replacement for the old Bridge?
Not necessarily. The decision depends on the problem the buyer is trying to solve. A small installation that already works reliably may gain little from changing hardware. A larger installation, or one intended to use MotionAware, has a stronger reason to consider Bridge Pro.
Signify subsequently announced multi-Bridge migration support and SpatialAware functionality for Bridge Pro users. SpatialAware was announced for spring 2026, while multi-Bridge migration and AI-assisted automations were listed earlier. These are ecosystem features, not evidence that Bridge Pro replaces a dedicated security system.

Compatibility also needs care. Hue bulbs, accessories, Bluetooth control, Zigbee, Matter controllers, a standard Bridge and Bridge Pro do not necessarily offer identical feature sets. Verify the desired feature against current Philips Hue documentation before assuming it will work through every control method.
The verdict
The original leak got the headline products right, and the writer’s favourite survived the transition from rumour to retail product. The Festavia Globe String Lights are the most exciting part of the launch for anyone who wants premium, visible and year-round outdoor ambience. Their globe design broadens Hue beyond conventional indoor bulbs and seasonal Christmas lighting.
They are not the universal best buy. The Permanent String Lights make more sense for fixed architectural installations, while the Secure Doorbell and Bridge Pro are more relevant to readers building a Hue-connected security setup. The decisive questions are therefore practical: where the lights will go, whether the installation should be movable or permanent, how much ecosystem integration is wanted and whether the buyer accepts Hue’s potentially higher total cost.
