ASOCEM reported September cement production by member companies at 1,166 thousand tonnes, up 10.68% year over year and 10.90% over the trailing 12 months. Dispatches and production are separate indicators: one is ASOCEM’s estimate of national dispatches, while the production figure covers output reported by ASOCEM member companies. The release does not explain the full method used to estimate national dispatches, so the two figures should not be treated as interchangeable measures or as a direct measure of construction output.

Imports rose sharply alongside dispatches
Cement imports reached 71,932 tonnes in September, up 470.79% year over year and 52.78% over the trailing 12 months, according to ASOCEM. Gestión reported that imports came mainly from Vietnam and entered chiefly through the Port of Chancay. The data show imports rising alongside dispatches, but do not quantify how much imports contributed to the dispatch increase or establish that they caused it.

Exports and energy demand moved differently
Not every indicator increased. Cement exports fell 16.94% year over year to 8,665 tonnes, while clinker exports dropped 48.79% to 36,083 tonnes. Over the trailing 12 months, cement exports were down 0.95%, but clinker exports were up 23.14%. Cement-industry energy demand was 99 GWh in September, an 11.29% year-over-year increase and a 6.88% rise over the trailing 12 months. ASOCEM reports these as separate industry statistics; they do not by themselves explain the dispatch increase.
Quick Recap
How to read the September figures
- Keep the time periods distinct. A year-over-year comparison measures September 2026 against September 2025; a month-over-month comparison measures it against August 2026; a trailing-12-month figure covers a different, cumulative window.
- Keep the materials distinct. Cement and clinker are separate products, and their production, trade and dispatch figures should not be combined as if they were one measure.
- Read the dispatch total as an estimate. ASOCEM publishes industry statistics and identifies national dispatches as estimated; its release page does not set out the full estimation method.
- Do not infer a cause from parallel increases. Production, imports, energy demand and dispatches all rose on some measures, but the cited reports do not establish why dispatches increased.
