The expanded ground-floor seating area reaches into space previously occupied by flowerbeds. The report also observed a gravel-filled trench beside the patio, construction walls, landscaping work around a tree, and holes near the concrete edge. These are observations of work in progress, not confirmation of the finished layout or materials.
How the work has progressed
In a September 1, 2026, update, WDW News Today reported that landscaping had been removed, exposing the ground and underground infrastructure, and that construction walls had been in place for months. The October update shows a later visible stage: patio flooring has been laid and stonework is under way. Neither report establishes a formal construction schedule.

Is Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree open during construction?
WDW News Today reported the restaurant open while the work continued. That does not establish whether every entrance, seating area, or nearby path is available or unaffected. For visit-day status, check Disney’s current Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree listing or the Disneyland app. Disney lists the restaurant in Bayou Country as a quick-service location with mobile ordering and notes that hours and offerings can change without notice.
Has Disney announced when construction will finish?
No confirmed completion date appears in the September or October construction reports. A public permit tracker, Theme Park IQ, reproduces the scope for Anaheim building permit BLD2026-01026: extend ground-level outdoor dining and seating, install a new fabric cover at the existing second-floor canopy, create a 90-square-foot electrical closet in the existing basement, and perform related mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work. The tracker lists May 22, 2027, as the permit’s expiration date; that is not a project completion date.
