A new Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) headquarters is planned at the existing IP Estate Bus Depot in New Delhi, with a reported project estimate of Rs 128.23 crore. The latest reported procurement status is that Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC) has issued a tender inviting construction agencies; the report does not confirm a contract award or that site construction has begun.
What is planned for the IP Estate site?
The proposal is for a replacement DTC headquarters on a 26,000-square-metre site at the existing IP Estate Bus Depot. The New Indian Express reported on 3 October 2026 that the planned building would have two basements, a ground floor and 11 storeys. DTC and DSIIDC signed an agreement for construction in December 2025, according to the report.
The project is described as a headquarters building, but the report does not give a detailed design, floor-by-floor use plan or account of which existing facilities would move there.

Has construction started, and when is it expected to finish?
The New Indian Express report updated 3 October 2026 says DSIIDC had issued a tender inviting construction agencies. It does not name a successful bidder or state that the contract has been awarded, so its headline wording “under construction” should not be taken as confirmation that physical work has started.
The tender document is reported to provide for a two-year construction period after the work is awarded. No award date, commencement date or fixed completion date is stated, so a calendar completion deadline cannot be established from the report.

Why is DTC planning a replacement headquarters?
Officials cited in the report consider the existing headquarters structurally outdated and inadequate for the operational needs of Delhi’s expanding transport network. That is the rationale attributed to officials, not a published engineering assessment in the report.
