Does MozzGuard stop mosquito bites?
Available evidence says you should not expect it to. Purdue Extension reports that devices using only ultraviolet light have been shown in controlled outdoor studies to be ineffective both at controlling mosquitoes and at reducing females’ biting rate. What works better than a UV mosquito zapper?
For bite prevention, combine measures that target mosquitoes, people and breeding sites rather than relying on light attraction.
Remove breeding water
- Empty or scrub containers that hold water, including buckets, toys, saucers and clogged gutters.
- Repeat the check after rain; small amounts of standing water can support mosquito development.
Block mosquitoes from people
- Repair window and door screens and keep them closed.
- Wear long sleeves and long trousers when practical.
