Morley’s Galleria redevelopment is now under construction: formal works began on September 19, 2025, and the centre currently expects the project to be complete by the end of 2026. The circa A$240 million plan combines a renewed two-level retail mall with new dining and entertainment areas, including an ACE HOYTS cinema. Galleria remains open, although access, parking and some facilities are changing during staged works.
What is the Morley Galleria redevelopment?
Vicinity Centres describes the current transformation as a circa A$240 million project at Galleria in Morley, Perth’s north east. The centre’s current project information gives the cost and scope; they are the owner’s stated project figures, not independently verified final costs or completed outcomes. Galleria’s centre works page provides the latest project information.
The plan is intended to renew the centre as a retail, dining and entertainment destination. Its main components are:
- A revitalised fashion and lifestyle mall across two levels, with nearly 100 tenancies.
- The Terrace, an alfresco dining precinct.
- An entertainment and lifestyle precinct that includes a new ACE HOYTS cinema.
- Upgrades to Centre Court, including casual dining options.
The project’s scope was announced by Vicinity Centres on August 20, 2025. The cinema is expected to open in late 2026, according to Galleria’s current project page.

When will construction finish?
Galleria says formal construction commenced on September 19, 2025, and currently expects the redevelopment to be complete by the end of 2026. That is a target, not a confirmed handover date. Vicinity’s original August 2025 announcement said main construction was expected to start in September 2025; that earlier forecast has since been superseded by the centre’s commencement date.
In February 2026, PerthNow reported that Vicinity chief executive Peter Huddle said the project remained on track for completion in time for Christmas 2026. That was an interim forecast, while the current official project information expresses the schedule as completion expected by the end of 2026. PerthNow’s February 2026 report also said the project was initially valued at A$350 million before Vicinity valued the Morley redevelopment at about A$240 million.

- Authentic, Real-World Construction Experience: The Pitsco True Scale House Framing Kit delivers a realistic construction model rather than simple assembly play. Students build a true 1:16 scale house model using 485 precision-cut balsa wood pieces, following professional-style house plans and construction methods aligned to real building practices. This architectural framing kit helps learners understand stud framing, scale lumber, and structural design in a way traditional model kits cannot.
- Blueprint Reading & Skill-Building: Designed as a hands-on architecture lesson for ages 14+, this model house framing kit guides students through a structured learning progression. Learners begin by interpreting blueprints, measuring to scale, and understanding architectural drawings before cutting, framing, and assembling the structure. The challenge builds accuracy, focus, and confidence, making it ideal for homeschooling, high school engineering projects, and blueprint reading practice tools.
- Choice-Based Design & Structural Comparison: Unlike most balsa wood house kits, this architectural model making supply allows students to choose between two realistic roof systems: truss or hip. Comparing a truss building kit to a hip roof framing model gives learners firsthand experience with real-world structural approaches used in residential construction, reinforcing problem-solving, interpretation, and decision-making while maintaining authentic construction standards.
- Classroom-Ready & Collaborative by Design: This classroom building kit is designed for individual or paired work, supporting collaboration and communication as students divide tasks, measure materials, and assemble the wooden house frame model together. Instructions are student-facing, with minimal teacher prep required beyond gathering shared tools. Projects can be stored safely during multi-week builds, making it well suited for extended classroom use.
- Career Pathways in Construction & Design: The True Scale House Framing Kit connects hands-on building to real careers in construction, architecture, engineering, drafting, and skilled trades. By applying construction terminology, reading plans, and working with a realistic construction model, students gain exposure to Career and Technical Education (CTE) construction concepts and civil engineering foundations, positioning this as a powerful architecture study kit and vocational training resource.
Why was the project described as “long-awaited”?
“Long-awaited” was PerthNow’s framing in its original August 20, 2025 report. A February 2026 follow-up referred to years of false starts and local frustration, but the available reporting does not provide a complete chronology of earlier proposals. PerthNow’s original report covered the expected September 2025 start.
Galleria has attributed the longer-than-hoped process to Western Australia’s construction boom, a shortage of construction partners for complex private projects, labour-resource constraints and supply-chain issues. Those are the centre’s explanation for delays, rather than a full independent account of the project’s history.

Is Galleria open during construction?
Yes. Galleria says the centre remains open while redevelopment works proceed. Woolworths, Coles and Aldi, along with Myer, Kmart, Target and specialty stores, are to continue trading. The centre cautions that some car-park areas and one centre entry may be temporarily closed, and some restrooms and parent facilities are being refurbished. For current open facilities and visitor arrangements, check the centre’s works and access information before travelling.
Where can visitors park during the works?
Parking availability and access are being managed in stages, so a static direction to a particular entrance or parking area can become out of date. A Galleria notice dated September 2026 said five stages of car-park works near the Westpac and NAB entrance at Collier Road and Dewar Street were scheduled to start on September 9, 2026. It said parking would remain available across the centre, advised visitors to allow extra time and follow on-site signs, and noted the parking map would be updated.
