The trial of Higgins Homes PLC and four individuals over the death of Michaela Boor began at the Old Bailey in October 2026. Boor, 29, died after bricks fell from a crane and struck her as she walked past a construction site in Bow, east London, on 27 March 2018. The accused deny the charges; the latest report reviewed said proceedings were continuing, and no verdict is reported.
What happened in Bow
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) says Boor was walking on the pavement past a construction site at the corner of Burdett Road on 27 March 2018 when she was struck by falling bricks and died. Contemporary reports of the trial describe the bricks as a pallet being transported by a tower crane. Construction Enquirer reported the load weighed two tonnes; that figure is attributed to the publication, not the CPS.
Construction Enquirer’s report on the trial and Sky News’ court report describe the case opening at the Old Bailey on 5 October 2026.
Who is charged, and with what?
On 12 May 2025, the CPS announced that it had authorised charges after reviewing evidence from the Metropolitan Police and the Health and Safety Executive. The charges are allegations, not findings of guilt.
