Metro Police investigated a reported threat at the future Hard Rock Hotel & Casino construction site on the Las Vegas Strip on Oct. 5, 2026. Police confirmed that a note had been written inside a porta-potty but did not confirm its wording. At the time of reporting, police said there was no active or known danger.
What police confirmed
Metro described the incident as “a vague threat of violence at a construction site” in the 3400 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Oct. 5 report. FOX5 reported that police confirmed a note was written inside a porta-potty, but did not confirm what it said. The note’s exact wording and author have not been established in the reports.
Police said there was “no active or known danger at this time,” as reported by FOX5’s initial account and the Review-Journal. That was a contemporaneous assessment, not a final finding about the investigation.
What Hard Rock said about the site
Hard Rock confirmed that construction stopped for the day out of caution. Its statement, reproduced by FOX5, said: “Hard Rock and our Development partners hold nothing more important than the safety of our team members. Out of caution, construction has ceased for the day while we address a safety concern. The property is secure, and we expect to resume operations tomorrow.”

A Vegas Report story published Oct. 6 said work resumed as scheduled, but that update was not independently confirmed in official company or police material in the reporting available here. The company’s confirmed statement was that it expected work to resume the following day.
What remains unconfirmed about the threat
FOX5 also reported an employee’s wife’s account of what she had heard from her husband. She said she initially received a text describing an active shooter and later said her husband clarified that there had been a threat. She relayed two possible accounts: a threatening message written in the porta-potty, or one worker threatening another worker.

- NO WIFI NEEDED — WORKS ANYWHERE WITH CELL SIGNAL — Connects over LTE cellular, not your home network, so it works at a remote gate, barn, or cabin with zero WiFi setup or dropped connections.
- 360° PAN, TILT & ZOOM FROM YOUR PHONE — Remotely rotate the camera to check any angle of your property on demand, instead of installing multiple fixed cameras to cover the same ground.
- SOLAR + RECHARGEABLE BATTERY — RUNS OFF-GRID — Solar charging keeps the built-in battery topped off, so the DEFEND 360 runs continuously anywhere, with no wall outlet required.
- 4K PHOTOS, 1080P VIDEO, INSTANT MOTION ALERTS — Get real-time notifications and imagery the moment motion is detected, sent straight to your phone.
- WEATHER-RESISTANT, BUILT TO STAY OUTSIDE — Handles rain, heat, cold, and years of exposure without missing a trigger.
Those are accounts relayed by a witness, not police-confirmed versions of events. The reports do not establish that a shooting occurred, what the note said, who wrote it, or how the threat was made. Metro’s investigation was ongoing in the Oct. 5 coverage.
