Neo 2 is Avidbots’ autonomous commercial floor scrubber, designed for large facilities with hard floors—not homes. It combines floor cleaning with facility mapping, autonomous path planning and fleet reporting, according to the manufacturer. Published performance figures are vendor specifications, and the stated maximum cleaning rate is explicitly theoretical.
What is Neo 2?
Avidbots announced Neo 2 on September 1, 2020, describing it as a next-generation autonomous commercial robot floor scrubber. It is intended for large hard-floor environments such as airports, hospitals, malls, manufacturing sites, retail spaces, schools, transit hubs and warehouses. It is facility equipment, not a household robot vacuum. Avidbots’ launch announcement and its Neo product page outline the commercial use case.
The core application is scrubbing floors. Avidbots also documents an optional high-touch surface disinfection add-on; it is separate from the standard floor-scrubbing function. IEEE Spectrum, in an article sponsored by Avidbots, reported that the company launched the add-on in September 2021 and described Neo operating with it at Rochester Institute of Technology. That account and the vendor materials establish the offering, not independent evidence of disinfection efficacy. IEEE Spectrum’s sponsored article provides that context.
How Neo 2’s autonomy and monitoring are described
Avidbots says its Autonomy software uses onboard sensor data to understand the facility, localize the machine, plan a route and adapt cleaning plans to environmental changes. At deployment, the company describes mapping the site and creating a customized cleaning plan. These are manufacturer descriptions rather than an independent technical audit. Operationally, a facility buyer should ask how mapping, route changes and exceptions will be handled in the specific building.
Command Center and facility reporting
Avidbots describes its web-based Command Center as a tool for monitoring fleets and reviewing operational status, maps, productivity measures and cleaning reports. A buyer evaluating it should check which metrics and reports are available for the proposed configuration and how they fit existing facilities workflows. Avidbots’ facilities brochure describes the autonomy and reporting features.
#1 Best Overall
- Fully Autonomous Floor Cleaning – Intelligent robotic operation navigates and cleans automatically, reducing hands-on labor and allowing staff to focus on other cleaning tasks.
- Scrubs Hard Floors & Vacuums Carpet – Multi-surface cleaning system provides automatic scrubbing and dirty-water recovery on hard floors while also vacuuming carpeted areas.
- Automatic Docking, Refill & Drainage – Docking station can connect directly to a clean-water supply and drain, allowing the robot to automatically refill with clean water and discharge recovered dirty water.
- Hands-Off Cleaning Cycles – The robot can return to its docking station, drain dirty water, refill with clean water, and prepare for its next cleaning task with minimal operator involvement.
- Scheduled Automatic Cleaning – Create cleaning schedules so the robot can automatically perform assigned cleaning tasks at designated times without requiring an operator to start each cycle.
Sensor-count discrepancy
Published sources do not agree on Neo 2’s sensor count: Avidbots’ launch page, brochure and the IEEE Spectrum overview say 10, while a PR Newswire reproduction of the launch release says 14. Without confirmation of the hardware revision, neither number should be treated as definitive. Ask Avidbots to confirm the sensor configuration for the unit being quoted.
What performance figures are published?
The brochure publishes these figures. They are vendor specifications, not independently verified results in a particular facility:

| Figure | What it means | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 3,900 m² (42,000 ft²) per hour | Stated area-cleaning rate | Avidbots labels this a “Calculated maximum theoretical value”; it is not a promised site result. |
| Up to six hours | Operation without recharging | Vendor specification; actual runtime may depend on configuration and operating conditions. |
| Up to 1.35 m (4.43 ft) per second | Stated maximum speed | This is a speed figure, not a demonstrated cleaning rate. |
All three values come from the Avidbots brochure, which has no publication date shown in the extracted document. In a facility assessment, measured coverage can differ from the theoretical maximum because the site layout, obstacles, operating pattern and cleaning requirements matter. Request a demonstration or site-specific plan before using brochure figures to estimate staffing or schedules.

How to assess Neo 2 for a facility
Neo 2 may merit an evaluation where recurring floor scrubbing covers a large hard-floor area. It should be compared with manual or other automated equipment against the building’s actual work—not assumed to deliver a universal productivity or return-on-investment advantage. The reviewed sources do not provide independently verified head-to-head costs or cleaning outcomes.

How to arrange an evaluation
Avidbots directs commercial prospects toward a facility demonstration. The company’s Neo 2 product page describes demos, but the cited materials do not establish current pricing or purchasing terms. Ask the vendor to assess the intended site and confirm the exact configuration, operating assumptions, service coverage and quote. Avidbots’ Neo page is the product contact point. Its current Neo 2W page also mentions virtual and live demos, but Neo 2W is the warehouse-oriented variant and should not be assumed to match a Neo 2 configuration: Neo 2W information.
