Meet Dyson’s New Lineup: V8 Cyclone, V16 Piston Animal and HushJet Purifier Compact

Dyson’s 2025 lineup spans everyday cordless vacuuming, flagship pet and carpet cleaning, wet hard-floor washing and compact-room air purification. Here is how the products differ and who should buy each.

Dyson’s September 4, 2025 Berlin launch introduced three products aimed at three different household problems—not one unified vacuum family. The V8 Cyclone is the accessible everyday cordless vacuum; the V16 Piston Animal is the high-performance vacuum; and the HushJet Purifier Compact HJ10 is a small-room air purifier.

For US shoppers, the practical choice depends on the problem to solve: routine dust and crumbs, demanding pet and carpet cleaning, wet hard-floor care, or airborne particles in a bedroom or office.

Prices and availability below were checked August 16, 2026. Dyson’s pricing and stock can vary by color, bundle, retailer and page state, so confirm the exact configuration before buying.

Dyson lineup at a glance

Product Category Published claims or specifications Observed US price Best suited to Main caution
V8 Cyclone Cordless stick vacuum 150 Air Watts; up to 60 minutes $399.99 Daily cleaning, apartments and stairs Maximum runtime depends on mode and attachment
V16 Piston Animal Cordless stick vacuum 315 Air Watts; up to 70 minutes $849.99 Pets, long hair, carpets and larger homes Premium price; stock and bundles vary
V16 Piston Animal Submarine Wet-and-dry floor cleaner 315 Air Watts; up to 70 minutes $1,099.99 Vacuuming plus sealed hard-floor washing Wet-head cleaning and drying add maintenance
HushJet Purifier Compact HJ10 Air purifier Up to 203 square feet; 99.97% particle-capture claim $349.99 Bedrooms, offices and nurseries Not a vacuum or whole-home purifier

The launch was broader than these three products. Dyson also announced the PencilVac, Spot+Scrub AI robot vacuum, Clean+Wash Hygiene and updates to fan and heater products in its Berlin announcement. This article focuses on the three products most likely to be confused with one another.

Dyson V8 Cyclone: the lower-cost everyday option

The V8 Cyclone is a modernized successor to Dyson’s original V8 format, which launched in 2016. Dyson says the updated model delivers 150 Air Watts of fade-free suction—30% more power than the previous V8—along with up to 60 minutes of runtime.

Its updated features include:

  • An enhanced seven-cell battery
  • A swappable battery
  • Triggerless operation
  • Three power modes
  • Dyson’s Root Cyclone separation system
  • A Motorbar cleaner head positioned for anti-tangle cleaning

Triggerless controls are a meaningful usability change for anyone who dislikes holding a trigger throughout a cleaning session. The removable battery can also make longer sessions more practical, although an additional battery is not necessarily included in every package.

Who should choose the V8 Cyclone?

The V8 Cyclone makes the most sense for an apartment or small-to-medium home, a second floor, stairs, quick messes and routine maintenance. It is the least expensive of the three vacuum-related configurations in this lineup and avoids much of the complexity of the flagship V16.

It is less compelling for a large, carpet-heavy home with substantial pet shedding if it is expected to replace a corded upright or canister vacuum. The “up to 60 minutes” figure is a maximum manufacturer claim, not a guaranteed cleaning time in the highest-power mode. Runtime changes with power setting, cleaner head, floor type, battery condition and usage.

Dyson’s launch material discussed self-emptying docking for the new V8 Cyclone, but buyers should check the exact US bundle rather than assume a self-emptying dock is included with the $399.99 configuration.

Dyson V16 Piston Animal: the performance-focused vacuum

The V16 Piston Animal is designed for buyers who want Dyson’s newest high-end cordless vacuum technology. Dyson says its 900-watt Hyperdymium motor produces up to 315 Air Watts of suction and up to 70 minutes of runtime. Dyson also describes it as its most powerful anti-tangle cordless vacuum.

Its main differentiators are the floor head, hair-handling design and dust-bin system:

Rank #2
Dyson V11 Origin Cordless Vacuum, 185AW, 3 Power Modes, Up to 60 Minutes,² Deep Cleans Hard Floors and Carpets, Detangles pet Hair, Converts to Handheld
  • Dyson V11 Cordless Vacuum, Wand, Docking Station, Charger, Mini Soft Dusting Brush, Crevice Tool, Hair Screw Tool, Motorbar Cleaner Head, Lithium Ion Battery (1)
  • Versatile and cordless for whole-home deep cleaning.
  • 60% more power.¹ Up to 60 minutes of run time.²
  • Three power modes. Auto mode for everyday cleaning tasks—the optimal balance of power and run time to preserve the lifespan of your battery. Eco mode for maximum run time. Boost mode for intensive spot cleaning.
  • LCD screen shows power modes, maintenance alerts, and remaining run time to the second.
  • All Floor Cones Sense cleaner head: In Auto mode, Dyson says it automatically adapts suction and brush-bar speed to the floor type.
  • Conical brush bars: Two conical brush bars are designed to move long hair into the bin instead of allowing it to wrap around a cylindrical brush. Dyson’s stated testing covers hair up to 25 inches.
  • Illumination: The cleaner head helps reveal fine dust on hard floors.
  • CleanCompaktor bin: A compression mechanism is intended to compact debris, with Dyson claiming capacity of up to 30 days of dust and debris under its test conditions.
  • Dynamic Cyclones: Dyson says additional cyclones are engaged in Boost mode.

These features address common frustrations in pet and long-hair households. However, “anti-tangle” does not mean that every hair wrap disappears in every home. Debris size, hair type, floor conditions and blockages still affect performance. Likewise, Air Watts are useful published specifications but not a complete measure of cleaning ability. The 315 AW and 150 AW figures should not be treated as proof that the V16 cleans proportionally better than the V8 or every competing vacuum.

What the CleanCompaktor bin means in practice

Compressing debris may reduce how often the bin needs emptying, particularly in a moderately messy home. “Up to 30 days” is not a universal ownership interval: pets, household size, construction dust, renovation debris, flooring and cleaning frequency can fill a bin much sooner.

The mechanism also adds moving parts. It is not the same as a sealed self-emptying system, and it does not remove the need to follow Dyson’s instructions for cleaning, blockages and maintenance.

The dry V16 configuration was listed at $849.99 on the Dyson US page checked, with a prior displayed price of $979.99. Some page states also showed an out-of-stock notification, so availability should be verified at the exact product page before purchase.

V16 Piston Animal Submarine: what the wet head adds

The V16 Piston Animal Submarine is a distinct wet-and-dry configuration, not an accessory that should be assumed to come with every V16. Its Submarine 2.0 head uses a motorized microfiber roller, controlled hydration and separate wet-cleaning functionality for spills and stains on hard floors. Dyson listed this configuration at $1,099.99 and showed it in stock on the page checked.

The Submarine version is worth considering when a household wants one Dyson platform for dry vacuuming and hard-floor washing. Users switch cleaner heads: the wet roller is primarily for sealed hard floors, while the standard floor head handles carpets and dry vacuuming.

That flexibility comes with trade-offs. Water handling, roller cleaning, tank care and drying add work after use. The system does not guarantee a replacement for every mop or floor-care tool. Stubborn stains, grout, delicate surfaces and flooring with specific manufacturer restrictions remain special cases. Buyers should also verify whether the desired package includes an extra battery, Floor Dok dock and the tools they need.

  • 2 Advanced cleaner heads and 4 attachments to clean up high, down low, and everywhere in between. Plus wall dock and charger.

HushJet Purifier Compact HJ10: a separate air-care product

The HushJet Purifier Compact solves a different problem entirely. It is intended for smaller rooms such as bedrooms, home offices, nurseries and personal living spaces—not for collecting floor debris.

Dyson’s design uses a star-shaped HushJet nozzle intended to reduce turbulence and operating noise. Dyson states that the purifier is designed for rooms up to 203 square feet and captures 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns under its stated test conditions. Dyson also says the filter is engineered to maintain performance over five years.

Those claims should be read precisely. Particle capture is not the same as guaranteed removal of every odor, gas, virus or pollutant. Room size, ceiling height, doors, placement, airflow, pollution load and operating mode can affect real-world air-cleaning speed. A five-year performance statement is not the same as “never replace the filter”; follow the product’s maintenance and replacement guidance.

The White/Silver configuration was listed at $349.99 and in stock when checked. Another Dyson listing showed $299.99 on sale but out of stock. The difference may reflect color, configuration, inventory or cached page states.

Which Dyson should you buy?

Choose the V8 Cyclone if:

  • You mainly need crumbs, dust, stairs and surface debris handled quickly.
  • You live in an apartment or smaller home.
  • You want a lower entry price and a simpler cordless format.
  • You value a removable battery more than maximum suction or advanced sensing.

Choose the V16 Piston Animal if:

  • You have shedding pets or long human hair.
  • Your home includes carpets and mixed flooring.
  • You want floor sensing, illumination, stronger published suction and a compressed bin.
  • The vacuum will serve as your primary whole-home cleaner and the premium price is acceptable.

Choose the V16 Submarine if:

  • You frequently deal with spills or sticky messes on sealed hard floors.
  • You want dry vacuuming and wet floor washing in one platform.
  • You accept the higher price and extra wet-cleaning maintenance.

Choose HushJet if:

  • Your priority is airborne dust or allergens in a small room.
  • You want a compact purifier for a bedroom, nursery or office.
  • Quiet placement matters more than whole-home coverage.

Consider buying none of them if:

  • You need a budget vacuum and do not value Dyson’s design or ecosystem.
  • Your large home calls for uninterrupted runtime from a corded upright or canister.
  • You expect the Submarine to replace every type of mop.
  • You need to purify an open-plan area larger than the stated HushJet coverage.
  • Current stock, delivery time or included accessories do not meet your needs.

Announcement date versus buying availability

Dyson announced the lineup on September 4, 2025, while the US buying story developed during 2026. The observed August 16, 2026 snapshot showed the V8 Cyclone at $399.99 and in stock, the dry V16 at $849.99 with inconsistent stock messaging, the V16 Submarine at $1,099.99 and in stock, and the White/Silver HushJet at $349.99 and in stock.

These are dated observed prices, not permanent MSRP. Dyson’s US pages can show different results by color, bundle and inventory state. Check the precise configuration for dock type, additional battery, Submarine head, cleaning tools, filters, warranty and return terms. Dyson’s US site advertises free shipping on orders over $50, a 30-day return policy and a conditional price-match promise; those terms should also be confirmed before ordering at Dyson’s US shopping site.

What remains unproven

The available product material establishes Dyson’s specifications and claims, not independent head-to-head performance. A responsible comparison should therefore attribute claims about suction, runtime, anti-tangle performance, noise, purification and floor adaptation to Dyson.

There is no basis here to say the V16 eliminates all hair tangles, that either vacuum delivers its maximum runtime in Boost, that the HushJet removes every pollutant, or that the Submarine replaces all mopping. The strongest buying decision is problem-based: pay for the V16’s extra capabilities only when pets, carpets, hair, dust capacity or wet hard-floor cleaning make them valuable.
