Main Street is scheduled to close between Oakland Street and Westernview Drive from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 7, October 8 and October 13, 2026. The Town of Wilbraham Department of Public Works directs drivers to follow signed detours via Oakland Street, Garden Lane and Westernview Drive. This is the schedule posted in the town’s October 6 notice; check the latest town DPW notices in case it changes.
When and where is Main Street closed?
The town’s October 6, 2026 notice schedules a daytime closure on Main Street between Oakland Street and Westernview Drive on these dates:
- Wednesday, October 7, 2026, 7 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Thursday, October 8, 2026, 7 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Tuesday, October 13, 2026, 7 a.m.–5 p.m.

What detour should drivers follow?
The DPW notice directs drivers: “Follow detour signs down Oakland St, Garden Ln and Westernview Dr.” Follow the signs in the work area. The town’s notice does not provide a detour distance, travel-time estimate or additional turn-by-turn directions.

What construction is behind the closure?
The closure is part of a wider Eversource natural-gas system upgrade. A town construction alert dated August 26, 2026, lists Main Street, Westernview Drive, Oakland Street, Wilbraham Road, Kelly Lane and Echo Valley Drive among the work areas. That alert said work began August 31 and was expected to continue through December 2026, with final paving planned for spring 2027; those dates are forecasts, not confirmation that the project has finished.
The August alert gives general work hours of Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.–4 p.m., with occasional Saturday or night work possible. Those general hours are separate from the October 6 notice’s specific Main Street closure window of 7 a.m.–5 p.m.

Access and project questions
The town’s August alert says driveways and properties will remain accessible during construction. It does not guarantee access to a particular driveway during a specific operation. Eversource will contact customers directly if their gas service line needs replacement.
For project questions, the town lists Eversource at 855-645-2427, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Follow posted work-zone signs and check the town’s current notices before setting out.
