The original Lymow One is a wire-free robotic mower built around tracked treads, rotary mulching blades and RTK-supported navigation. Its published specifications make it an intriguing option for large, sloped lawns, but they are not a guarantee of performance on every surface. “Wire-free” also does not mean setup-free: the mower depends on an RTK reference station, and its manual describes sharply limited operation without RTK.

What the Lymow One is—and what “wire-free” means

The original Lymow One is a physical robotic mower that cuts grass with rotary mulching blades and navigates using RTK plus VSLAM, AI vision and five ultrasonic sensors, according to Lymow’s user manual. It does not require a buried perimeter wire to define the mowing boundary. Instead, RTK positioning helps it navigate mapped areas, with a reference station as part of the setup.

That distinction matters: wire-free is not the same as infrastructure-free. The manual says that without RTK, the mowing area is limited to about 100–150 square metres and operation to up to ten minutes. Plan for an RTK station and a suitable installation location rather than assuming the mower can simply be placed on the lawn and left to work.

Specifications: capacity, slope and runtime

The figures below are specifications in the original One manual, not independent performance measurements. The manual’s publication date is not established in the copy reviewed.

Specification Lymow One How to interpret it
Cutting width 16 inches (400 mm) Published cutting width.
Cutting height 1.2–4 inches (30–100 mm) Adjustable range stated in the manual.
Maximum daily coverage 7,000 m² (1.73 acres) Daily capacity; not a claim about the maximum total lawn size.
Maximum coverage per charge 2,300 m² (0.57 acres) Separate from daily coverage; actual results can vary.
Maximum runtime Three hours Manual specification; actual runtime depends on use and conditions.
RTK coverage radius Up to 1 km (3,200 ft) Manufacturer specification, not a guarantee of reception at every site.
Maximum stated slope 45° (100% incline) Published capability; surface, moisture and terrain affect traction.
Obstacle-climbing height 50 mm (2 in) Manual specification.
Water resistance IPX6 Rating stated in the manual.
Weight 35.2 kg (77.6 lb) Relevant when handling or moving the mower.
Battery life 2,000 charge cycles Manual figure identified as laboratory-based; actual life varies with use and environment.

Keep the area figures separate when judging fit. The stated 7,000 m² is maximum daily coverage; 2,300 m² is maximum coverage per charge. Neither figure should be treated as a promise that a particular lawn will be finished in one session, and daily capacity is not the same as the largest lawn the mower can support.

Does it suit steep, uneven or difficult ground?

Tracked treads are central to the Lymow One’s all-terrain design. Tracks provide a different approach from a conventional wheeled mower, while the manual’s stated maximum incline is 45° (100% incline). That number is a manufacturer specification, not proof that the mower will maintain traction on every slope. Wet grass, loose soil, ruts and uneven transitions can change what is practical on an individual property.

For a construction-minded yard assessment, look beyond the steepest point. Note changes in grade, soft or disturbed ground, narrow passages, drainage areas and obstacles near the mowing route. The manual’s 50 mm obstacle-climbing figure gives a reference point, but it does not establish how the mower handles every obstacle shape or approach angle. A site with varied terrain calls for realistic expectations and careful mapping, not reliance on a single incline number.

How should you think about its cutting performance?

The rotary mulching system is designed to cut and mulch grass, and the 16-inch width is intended to cover ground efficiently. Still, mulching performance depends on grass height and density as well as the mower’s operating conditions. A robotic mower is generally best evaluated as part of a mowing routine, rather than assumed to clear overgrown grass like a conventional mower in one pass.

A hands-on review by Catherine Hiles for Tom’s Guide, published May 27, 2026, covered the related Lymow One Plus—not the original One. After two weeks on an approximately 6,800-square-foot Ohio backyard, Hiles reported that it respected mapped boundaries and no-go zones, but flattened some of the thickest, longest grass and dandelions before cutting them cleanly. One session took 104 minutes and used 124% of the battery, requiring a recharge stop; the lawn looked evenly striped afterward. The reviewer said it reduced mowing frequency but did not fully replace her riding mower. This is one person’s test of a different generation in one yard, not a controlled study or a result that can be assumed for every One installation.

What does setup involve?

The practical requirements are a dock with access to mains power and a position for the RTK reference station. In the Tom’s Guide One Plus test, the station connected to the dock by cable, and the reviewer tried different placements before finding a suitable arrangement. Mapping the lawn and creating no-go zones took about 20–30 minutes in that installation. Those are One Plus review observations, so they offer a useful indication of the setup considerations—not a guaranteed setup time for the original One.

  • Check that the dock can be placed near mains power.
  • Identify a suitable location for the RTK station and its connection to the dock.
  • Consider whether the chosen locations can support reliable navigation across the areas you want mowed.
  • Allow time to map the lawn and define no-go zones.

Original Lymow One versus Lymow One Plus

The original One and the One Plus are distinct generations. The original One’s specifications above come from its manual. The current official Lymow product page describes the One Plus, including dual rotary blades, tracked treads, RTK plus VSLAM, AI vision, ultrasonic obstacle sensing and control of up to 80 zones. Those are manufacturer descriptions; they should not be treated as independently verified outcomes or retroactively assigned to the original One.

When accessed on October 5, 2026, the One Plus page displayed US sale prices of $2,499 for the 5A configuration and $2,799 for the 10A configuration. The page stated daily coverage of up to 1.1 acres and 1.73 acres respectively. These are point-in-time One Plus details, not prices or configuration specifications for the original One.

Who is the Lymow One a fit for?

The original One is most relevant to an owner considering a robotic mower for a large or sloped lawn who wants to avoid a buried perimeter wire and is willing to plan for RTK-supported navigation. Its tracked chassis and stated incline capability are reasons to investigate it for challenging ground, but neither substitutes for assessing the actual terrain and surface conditions.

It may be a less straightforward fit if you expect zero-installation setup, need dependable mowing through long or dense growth without preparation, or want a proven one-session solution for a large property. The manual’s area figures describe different measures, and the only independent hands-on evidence here concerns the One Plus in one Ohio yard. Before choosing any generation, also verify local availability, service, warranty terms and model-specific replacement parts; the evidence cited here does not establish those details for the original One.

Maintenance and parts considerations

The original One manual identifies rotary blades, and the One Plus product page lists blade sets. That does not confirm that the listed One Plus blades fit the original One. Confirm compatibility with a model-specific parts listing or the manufacturer before buying replacement blades. The manual’s 2,000-cycle battery-life figure is laboratory-based and carries the manufacturer’s warning that actual life varies with use and environment; it should not be read as a guaranteed service life.
