The maker names uses including interior and barrel saunas, spas or bathrooms, dressing rooms, rustic gates, cabinets, backyard showers, and cabins. Those are seller-stated applications, not verified fit or performance for every setting. See the maker’s listing.
A second listing from the same maker describes a two-piece cedar privacy set, approximately 5.25 × 2 × 1 inches, with hidden mounting screws and rounded edges. It is unfinished; the seller notes that wood grain and tone can vary between pieces. Confirm the actual item’s dimensions and mounting details if matching an existing door matters.

Measure the door and confirm the mounting plan
Listing dimensions are starting points, not a guarantee of fit. Before buying or making a latch, compare the actual latch and door rather than relying on a product title or a general use label.
- Measure the mounting area: Check door thickness, available flat surface, edge clearance, and room for the latch to turn or slide.
- Check the movement: For a rotating latch, confirm that the arm can clear the frame and reach its stop. For a sliding bar, confirm the bolt’s reach and the positions of the guides and catch.
- Confirm the hardware: Ask whether screws, washers, plugs, guides, and catches are included, and what fasteners suit the door material.
- Ask about the actual piece: Handmade grain and color vary; request current measurements or photos if precise appearance or fit is important.
- Clarify the setting: Confirm the maker’s care and finish instructions, especially for an unfinished latch exposed to weather.
Privacy is not the same as security
One CraftCNCWoodshop listing states, “This is a privacy latch, not a security lock,” and says the product is not intended for heavy-duty use. That limitation applies to that cited latch; it should not be read as a performance statement about every wooden latch. If a door needs security, use hardware designed and rated for that purpose rather than treating a decorative or privacy catch as a lock.

Use it as a project starting point, then check the complete plan against your door’s dimensions, mounting surface, and required movement. A DIY latch can be tailored to the door, but its suitability depends on the design and construction.
